Vehicle stalled at highway speed. Found defective fuel pump. Upon removal of pump from fuel tank, found wiring on fuel pump sending unit burnt with insulation melted back approximately two inches from the switch. Had this event occurred with a tank close to empty it may have resulted in an explosion and fire.

The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet c 1500 pick-up truck. While driving 40 mph the fuel module assembly malfunctioned causing the fuel gauge to read inaccurate fuel levels. The contact stated that at times the fuel light comes on indicating that the vehicle was low on fuel. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer at this time but feels the vehicle was experiencing the same issue that's stated in the recall (05v155000) fuel system, gasoline:delivery:fuel pump for the 2001 Chevrolet suburban. The contact stated that the manufacturer should extend the recall for his year make and model vehicle. The failure mileage was 158,000.

Contact stated the fuel pump burned up, the wires inside the fuel pump had meltd. The fuel pump was being replaced by a local mechanic. Contact stated he contacted the gm manufacturer, and they did not offer any resolution.

Intermitent operation of fuel pump located in fuel tank. Removal of fuel level sending unit and fuel pump assembly revealed a burnt connector and melted wire insulation, resulting in poor continuity to fuel pump. Vehicle would crank but not always start. Vehicle would also stall while driving with no warning.
Tl-the electrical wires that goes into the fuel tank than makes the gas tank and the gas gauge work shorted out the fuel pump so that it won't work and the gas gaugae also. He had it repair in mo and after driving about a 100 miles the gas gauge would not work and he took ti to a dealer to get it serviced and they stated they will not fix it. What is the recourse if getting a reimbursement this is the third fuel pump he has put in the vehicle.
Vehcile kept stalling on highway. Electrical wiring in fuel pump caused pump to go bad. If ignited, it could have caused a fire. Fuel pump was replaced.
Defective fuel pump malfunctioned, causing vehicle to stall which could have caused a crash. Dealer replaced the fuel pump at consumer's cost. Please provide further information.
Reported to the dealer that the fuel pump was excessively noisy at 8957 miles. Notified that this was normal. At 46395 the fuel pump died. Dealer should have replaced when first reported.
Wires in fuel pump inside gas tank overheated to the point that plastic parts melted. We feel that this could be a major fire risk because the whole assembly is inside the tank.
Due to the defective design of the fuel pump which caused the wires to burn together and cause the fuel pump to be inoperative, resulting the vehicle to stall which almost had an accident. Mfr has a new ly design fuel pump. Dealer stated that it's a wrong part in the fuel pump which it was the orginal in the vehicle.
