2003 chevy 1500hd truck, this truck is equipped with 4 wheel steering. The truck began to steer incorrectly. It was taken to gm dealer. Work was done to fix problem only to find out later that the rear wheels were now turned to the left making the truck go down the roadsome what sideways about 6 to10 inches. . This means the front end in your lane and the back end in someone else's. This could not be stopped by turning the system offa safety feature. Gm would not fix or admit it had a problem, so I had the truck repaired again at my cost. This a safety hazard and should be fix immediately before some one die.

Steering clunks on turns. Dealer replaced intermediate steering shaft under warranty per TSB. Problem resurfaced on 09/29/2006 at 44,045 miles. Dealer repaired under extended warranty . Problem showed up again on 06/17/2007 at 54, 451 miles. Dealer wanted $280 for the job. Have not repaired. The problem is now worse at 84,618 miles. Problem # 2 stop light sockets heat up and loose contact to the bulb. Dealer wants around $75 for each of the two sockets required. Problem #3 received notice from gmac stating there may be an instrument cluster problem. Don't come to the dealer unless you are experiencing the problem. Gm extended the warranty to 7 years or 70,000 miles. Naturally, my gauges failed at 79,000 and 7 years and 10 months. Dealer wants over $400 for parts alone. Updated 07/05/11.
Vehicle has problems with steering control during short or long right hand turns. The wheel skips or moves on its own to the right causing driver to over correct the wheel.

Steering wheel position sensor failure can cause the vehicle to oversteer and become very unpredictable during turning left or right.
When turning steering wheel, wheel slips. Dealer replaced evo sensor.
Vehicle veers suddenly right or left during turns. Owner relpaced evo sensor and corrected the problem. Upon inspection of failed unit, owner found that the grease from steering shaft had leaked down into this sensor, causing unit to fail. I know of 2 other owners of trucks with this system that have this identicle issue.

Vehicle pulls to the left while in or while entering a curve, consumer states it feels as if someone is grabbing steering wheel, dealer suggested the problem was the evo sensor, however at the time they could not get vehicle to duplicate problem, therefore not being able to find the problem.
Speed sensor causing directional control of vehicle to operate erratically at any given speed.
Was driving vehicle & would make turn around on corner or curb and vehicle would suddenly oversteer by itself. Later ,it would straighten up on its own. Did not lose control of vehicle. Problem would be intermittent. Taken vehicle to dealer & was informed by mechanic of no recalls.
Intermittently vehicle experiences uncontrollable steering movement. Dealer has been notified.
Steering is defective. When driving at 40- 50 mph steering wheel jerks and hesitates, and turns to the left.
Steering wheel would on any unexpected time, suddenly and abruptly, pull to the left or right when going into a curve in the road. Consumer took vehicle to the dealership, and the mechanic told him that they replaced the power steering pressure sensor, and he needs to have it done again.

Vehicle steering continually experiencing control problems, replacement of coil,gear box and steering wheel position sensor did not rectify steering problems.
When making a left or right turn the steering wheel locks and the brakes activate, and the pedal goes down about 2 inches from the top before the pedal will come back and the steering returns. Vehicle is being checked by dealer. Vehicle has not been repaird. Dealer is unable to find the problem.

When making right hand turns only the steering wheel shifts, causing an overturn. Wheel moves 1 to 2 inches when this happens. Dealer has replaced the steering wheel position sensor once, the problem has occurred again.
The design of speed sensitive steering caused sudden over steering during turns or lane changed. Yh.
Vehicle experiences problems with steering control continually, loss of steering ability when passing or in large sweeping curve.
Steering effort will become excessive with out warning. When put in an emergency stopping condition was unable to turn steering to the right. This condition has only happened once. But the effort to turn the steering wheel will become excessive when turning the steering wheel and appling the brakes when moving at a slow rate of speed. Very noticable when pulling into or out of parking spots. Dealer has be unable to repair.
When making a right turn vehicle loses steering control, and steering wheel must be turned left to right to regain control. Vehicle is currently at dealership. Problem intermittent.
Steering sensor cracked, causing loss of steering control.
The dealership made 3 attempts to correct the loose steering in the vehicle.
Steering becomes erratic at speeds over 35 mph, vehicle will turn suddenly without warning. Steering position sensor was replaced at about 30,000 miles, problem still persists.
Ea 99011; cruise control was set at 75 mph when a deer jumped out of the median, consumer swerved to miss deer, but steering wheel oversteered, and vehicle slid into a ditch and rolled over.
