Steering Column problems of the 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2003

The steering wheel is hard to turn when driving around turns. Received recall notice. Dealer said not urgent. Shortly after she crashed her vehicle because of the defective steering.

2 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2002

While driving smoke was coming out of the steering column. Ph.

3 Steering Column problem

While driving pins came out of tilt mechanism of steering wheel, causing steering wheel to drop down. Contact dealer, and dealer stated never heard of this.

4 Steering Column problem

Consumer states while traveling and making a left turn steering wheel would not turn left, causing vehicle tto ravel to the right and run into a tree.
