Just purchased a 2002 chevy Cavalier for our daughter and have been trying to find out if any of the 5 recalls were performed on this vehicle or not. The NHTSA recall page isn't working at this time and the chevy local dealership isn't willing to help. Can someone please provide some assistance??.

I was on my way to my dentist appointment, suddenly a hissing noise came from the car. All of the dashboard lights came on and I knew I was in trouble. I was on a busy intersection in the city. I had to act in a split second and steer quickly off of the nearest side ride. The steering wheel was locking up. I had just enough power to get safely off of the street in time and to keep from getting hit from behind. I was in motion on a city street. The car was trouble from day one. I believe it was a flooded out car sold to the unsuspectithat unsuspecting person was me. I got suckered out of over $2400. I have paid for at least 2 new cars with the money I have spent on this lemon. By the way the shady owner don't feel responsible at all for scamming my money out of me.

Please call about these problems with these cars, 888-327-4236 is how I think anything will get done, just called today 02-20-15. Gas gauge went out 02-07-15 ( millage 40000) and is hitting against my temp gauge so I don't know how hit my car is getting. I replaced my temp gauge back in 01-07-12 millage(29111) cause it was hitting against my speedometer<--- this was not replaced but I dont think till this day it shows the right speed. Air bags did not work back in 2006 crash no fault of the car then, someone hit me, so dont even know if they will. Called gm about that in 2012 and told me there was nothing that could be done. Forgot to tell kimmy about this problem today. Good luck getting these problems fixed. I have to drive my kids and family around only car I have so I hope something is fixed before we get hurt. And I hope for the ones that fixed these repairs get there money back if they find it to be a issue. .

2004 Cavalier, 2. 2l dohc, 5-speed manual transmission. While driving at 60 mph vehicle felt as if cruise control was engaged. Rpms would not fall off as fast as usual when foot taken off gas, and when I depressed the clutch (which was just replaced last week due to another known issue that chevy refuses to recall) rpms went above 4,000. Tapped gas pedal thinking maybe it was stuck and it only revved higher and did not come down on its own. Rpms continued to climb as I came to a stop, around 6,000 by the time I pulled over. Shut the car off and immediately back on, no problems for the rest of the trip home (another 8 miles). I cannot risk my car revving at 6,000 rpms in stop and go traffic which I'm in every weekday and I can't shut it off and turn it back on to fix the problem, so I have to find out what causes it and fix it ASAP. Thanks for another spendy repair, chevy.

All of the trouble lights come on including the service light with a wrench. Then, all of the gauges drop to nothing; you don't know how fast you're traveling, what your fuel capacity is, the temperature gauge drops to nothing along with the tachometer dropping to nothing. In the odometer and "error" message replaces the odometer reading. The gauges will intermittently go off and on or all of them will drop of with no reading. The other evening, I was coming home on a winding back country road and all of my lights went out. I have to limit my driving to daytime driving and only use the running lights as it appears to only aggravate the problem when I use my headlights. Today, everything above happened along with some news things. The vehicle was shut off, the key was removed from the ignition and the running lights remained on as did the warning alarm as though the key were left in the ignition. I left the car only after I pulled the left and right fuse from the panel. When I returned to the car, I inserted the fuses and started the vehicle but was unable to shift the car into gear as the car would not let me depress the button on the shifter to do so. I have to now shut the car off and pull the ignition fuse and then reinsert it to get the car in gear. What the heck?.
I just bought a 2005 Cavalier from a private party and a couple days after I had it I noticed that my speedometer said I was going 110 mph while I was on freeway my heart dropped I immediately let off the accelerator to reduce speed. I began to observe that others were passing me so I got off on the next exit. When I came to a complete stop the speedometer read 55 mph. I turned the car off and restarted it hoping that would fix the problem but it didn't. Since then my gas gauge and temp gauge has been reading improperly. I tried to turn off the car and restart it a few times to try to get it back to normal but seems to make it worse. What cab I do to fix this since its a very common problem and chevy won't fix it even though it could cause an accident. I'm a parent and I am supposed to put trust in this car and company to keep my children safe?!?! please recall and fix this problem. Thank you.
Was at a stop light and car just konked out and would not start again. I tried and tried but to no avail. Had to push it into a gas station about 100 yards, not easy as a 50 year old female (no one stopped to help me, just sped by). I have seen hundreds of complaints on-line that this has been an habitual problem with this make and model. It only has 71,000 miles on it and I just purchased the first part of 2012???? what is up? this many problems should have involved a recall!.

So when my gas gauges get down below the half line the check gauges light comes up and I know for sure that my car isn't yet empty. What do I do?.
Car would not start. Later car would stall out, not getting fuel. Car has same engine as my former 05 cobalt. I believe problem is in ignition wires, always had lights on in interior after starting engine. Now car must be sold for parts.
2003 chevy Cavalier 2dr/standard. Two months and counting my car stalls on stop light. Occasionally, shakes when I start, after putting gas in, it won't start right away (it takes five mins or less). . . Chk engine light is on. . . Yes, oil change regularly, tuned-up done, new battery, new idle valve, it has been checked, but my car still stalls and I can smell burned oil when I'm warming my car and give some rev. . . Please need help my car is important. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter and by the way I don't have money to buy expensive parts if the manufacturer messed this model. . . Help please .
Vehicle died in the middle of an busy intersection would turn over however would not start.
2003 Chevrolet Cavalier LS sport. Car keeps stalling on me when I come to a stop at a stop sign, signal light, or traffic. Have to continue giving gas while hold the brake in order for the car to keep running.
I have a z24 and my car stalls out and turns off while driving I have contacted a chevy dealer who stated that the Cavalier's do, but my type of vehicle(z24) isnt affected. Explained it is and they should see about this. And I would have to pay to get this fixed. Also, when researching this information on the internet I have found many other customers who have had the same problem as I with my type of vehicle. Why would 1 type of car of the same year have the problem and not all of them? it has the same components just designed a little different.

No events leading up to failure . The gas gauge stopped working in my 96 chevy Cavalier and now my 99 chevy Cavalier and I've run out of gas on several occasions thankfully not in the middle of traffic or on the highway. I've heard that they know about this problem that it is some kind of sensor problem and it exists throughout a number of gm cars . Nothing has been done to correct the problem.
Car was being driven on highway, accelerated beyond driver's control, with brakes applied driver put car in neutral, guided car off road and shut off engine. Mechanic where car was towed explained that the air filter cover had broken and a piece from air filter cover was sucked into air duct to throttle body causing throttle to be stuck open. Car is bifuel cng. Is this is a factor in air filter cover cracking? is there parts tracking for replacement of air filter covers and is it known how many of those went to bifuel cars. Why is air filter cover cracking? or is there a fix to prevent pieces from lodging in throttle? dt.
Gas gauge varies by an 1/8 to 1/4 at random.
