I was one block from home and my car stalled it wouldn't start back up. I found my self at the intersection. The mechanic said it is a bad fuel pump. The car only has 60,000 miles. This happened about this time last year . Also last year my gauge to my engine temperature went out of control. I can't tell the engine temp. Anymore.

At times, during the past several months this vehicle has been hard to start. Had the fuel pump and ignition switch replaced, but did not seem to solve the problem. Recently, the car stalled out while driving and took 15 minutes to finally re-start. I have read online where this has been a problem for other owners of chevy Cavaliers- hard to start and stalls out sometimes. Not sure what is causing the problem, because the check engine light does not come on and there is no code to diagnosis/read.

My 1987 chevy cavaliar shut off in the middle of driving multiple times. The first time I heard clicking in the cluster and the theft system light turns on and my fuel pump shuts down. I have been in very critical places while this situation takes place. The theft system has shut my vehichle off on the highway, in the intersection ect. . I have tryed to reset this system numerous times. I have come to the knowledge that this is a serious problem with many chevy cavaliars and other gm models. This should be a recall and should be fixed. I, a loyal gm customer, should not have to drive a unpredictable vehichle that has security problems that are due to the original making of the system. I have no money to pay for this and am stuck with this problem. It is very unsafe.

I've owned two different 2003 chevy Cavaliers and in both cars the fuel pump went out after a year of owning the vehicles. I went through two fuel pumps in my first Cavalier and I bought another Cavalier after the first was wrecked and my second cavi lost its pump now. I know of cars with 3 times the amount of miles on it without having a single fuel pump problem.
The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. He contact attempted to accelerate from a traffic light but the vehicle would not respond. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing who advised that the fuel pump would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.
Coasting down hill on a dirt road, got to the bottom and engine had died. Rolled to a stop and would not restart. Towed to a mechanic, replaced fuel pump. This happened twice more and each time the fuel pump was bad. The last fuel pump only lasted 3 months and like the two previous pumps, it was brand new!! this is 3 bad fuel pumps in a year and my wallet can't afford to keep this up. Why is there not a recall on this?.
Furl pump failure. On March 2nd 2011 I had a fuel pump fail as I was driving home from work almost causing an accident. After research I discovered this is a very common occurrence for this vehicle which is a 2004 chevy Cavalier. This could result in a very dangerous situation for Cavalier owners such as myself. Is there anything at all that is being done to look into this problem?.
I have a 2003 chevy Cavalier stalls : changed the fuel pump , pressure solenoid switch ,torque converter clutch solenoid . Tired of this and no one doing anything about it still stalls and all everyone can do is guess at what it is I hate my Cavalier the last three years I had problems with the catalytic converter got that fixed after three converters help.
Was driving on interstate at top speed when car died. Got to side of road and had it towed. Had to have fuel pump replaced. A year later the new fuel pump went out. A year later that pump went out. Two weeks later, the fourth fuel pump went out and it is in the shop again. Car is not safe as this happens suddenly and without warning and leaves you with no control in the middle of traffic moving at top speed.
My daughters 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier suddenly died on the interstate with no warning. It had to be towed to the repair shop. The fuel pump is bad. It only has 63,000 miles on it. The repair cost me $600. I'm finding out that this is a well known problem for this model and year. I've never in my lifetime owning numerous cars had a fuel pump fail. This was a dangerous situation. My daughter was almost hit by a semi when her car died. This needs to be a factory recall .
In response to previous investigation NHTSA action number pe07033 I was driving my 2003 chevy Cavalier on 95 south bound, when the trac off light came on and the vehicle jerked and stalled a little bit. I attempted to continue driving, however noticed the vehicle stalling even more. I was in an extremely dangerous place in highway traffic, and knew I had to pull off the road immediately. My car shut off as I was pulling to the right shoulder of the highway and I was almost hit by vehicles going 60-70 mph. I was able to coast to the shoulder of the road - in a position where I was not even able to exit my vehicle from the driver side. I had the vehicle towed to my mechanic, who informed me that the fuel pump and fuel filter need to be replaced. This is going to cost me approximately $417. I have researched this problem on the web and find it to be extremely common. To say that this isn't a big problem with this type of vehicle is unfair.
I have a 2003 chevy Cavalier and the fuel pump has went out . . . . . Car only has 65,000 miles on it. When I investigated the problem online I see alot of people with the same problem. I also noticed yall have investigated some complaints about this also . . . The case was closed due to not enough people complaining! I really think this is a defect and needs to be recalled. . . . It is costing us 600-1000 dollars to fix! please open the investigation again!.
I have a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier and the fuel pump went out. I was on the freeway going about 60 mph and the car sputtered and died.

Went to start car to go to store and it would not start. Luckily it was at home when it decided to stop working. Towed to garage and they said it was the fuel pump. The garage replaced the fuel pump and it fixed the no start issue. I had no idea that this was the process to start a recall investigation or I would have said long ago. There has been lots of recalls lately on gm and this same Cavalier decided not to start twice after the fuel pump, once in 2011 was the timing chain then again December 2012 that I still have to diagnose which led me to research recalls. Each time the car stopped working luckily it was in my driveway each and every time. The timing chain there was some warning, it would sometimes buck, other times it was fussy on starting and it would stall at stop lights. I will report a new issue if I can find out the 3rd unknown 2012 issue.
Fuel pump failure - replacement learned of replacement wiring harness - recommended by general motors due to possibility of fuel tank catching fire due to a defective connector replacement was not a harness but a connector that had to be spliced into existing cable which was around 30 or so inches long dealership says splice connector is only alternative to replacing the entire cable which would run over $500 and would have to cut and splice that together as well as new one would have the defective connector as well ** my complaint on this - this is a factory defect or so the dealership says and is aware of the problem which indicated that the harness needs replacement due to fact that using existing connector installed by the manufacturer could cause a fire in the fuel tank - which I would think this is a safety issue that should have had a recall to it. ** also replacing a connector by splicing is pretty much pointless on such a short cable to begin with and if a diy was to do this the connection may not be solid and tight therefore a heat build up could occur and a fire could result as well.
My 2003 chevy Cavalier, fuel pump stopped working with no warning on a very busy highway. I did get off the road, but I understand that alot of others have had the same problem . This car I have owned from day one, and not even having warning that the car is just going to stop running, is very bad. Also, I had only 86,000 mile on the car , have taken very good care of it, & feel that this pump is a defect in the chevy product. Since so many others have had this happen to them, with even lower mileage on there cars. This is a very costly repair & very unsafe to have a car stop dead on a busy highway.
Fuel pump went out. I researched this problem and it seems to be a big problem with this year car.
Fuel pump went out like 99. 9% of all the other Cavaliers gm has made.
2000 Cavalier fuel pump went out Chevrolet ---this seems to be a very common problem with a very expensive solution 280 for a new one plus the aggravation of trying to take apart and replace the hoses why don't they just recall these cars 200-2004 at least to replace the weak junky fuel pumps with better ones.

I own a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier with 65000 miles and the fuel pump just failed leaving me stranded on the side of the road. There was no warning and no indication that a problem was coming, the car just stopped. Now I am told that I must pay $1000 to have a new fuel pump installed. The new part is the same as the old oem part. I have been reading that 2003 Cavalier's have been having the same problem for years and that Chevrolet has had no recall for an obviously defective part form the factory. This is ridiculous! I feel that some sort of compensation should be made to the hundreds of gm customers that have had this kind of problem. This is not a part of the gm bailout! this is a problem that must be resolved at the manufacturer level. . . .
I was driving back from work to the place I was staying at the time and when I was about 5 miles away, my car (2003 chevy Cavalier) died in the middle of me driving. I was luckily able to pull over to the side of the road in time just before it completely conked out. This was the first occurrence. The chevy was towed to the nearest shop where I didn't find out until the next morning that it was the fuel pump that had died. The repair had cost $775. 06.
Operating 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier on highway traveling approximately 65 mph when engine quit/stalled. Glided to side of highway. Engine would not restart. Dealership said it was a problem with the fuel pump. Fortunately an accident was avoided although this was a very dangerous situation.
1) 2003 chevy Cavalier 80,000 miles would not start 2) car did not start and had to be towed into an auto shop 3) a new fuel pump was ordered adn replaced, now car is running.
While driving home from work, my car was running fine and then just died without any type of warning. I had the car towed for $100 and was told that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. I replaced the fuel pump on may 21st and now less then 6 months later, the exact same thing happens again! I have the car looked at and once again, the fuel pump needs to be replaced. I have found that this is an extremely common problem. When I got on your website and found that the possible recall had been closed, I wanted to scream! how many times am I going to have to replace the fuel pump before chevy decides to do something about it? I'm a single mom and can't afford to due this every 6 months! after my experience with my chevy Cavalier, I will never buy chevy again! I do not understand how this issue can just be closed when there are so many people with the same problem. Search the internet! the fuel pumps in 2003 chevy Cavaliers go out repeatedly! it also appears that this seems to occur after 50,000 mile mark. At this point in time, I just want to fix the car so I can get rid of it. I find it completely insane that there is no recall on this matter. I find it completely insane that chevy is required to fix their problem! no matter how well I take care of my car, this will continue to happen because there is a defect in the fuel pump!!.
2003 Chevrolet Cavalier 2 door coupe fuel pump stopped working.
I have a 2003 chevy Cavalier and my fuel pump failed at 51,200 miles. It was extremely sudden. I had to have it replaced for a total of $460. 46usd. I've had the car for a little over a year now and I have driven the car respectfully. This needs to be addressed and recalled ASAP.
On a 4 hour road trip my car stopped accelerating as I was driving down interstate 77. Therefore, I pulled off the road and came to a complete stop. I tried to restart the car after a few minutes had passed. However, it would not. After sitting on the side of the interstate for approximately 3 hours waiting for my boyfriend to drive 2 hours out of his way to come and get me and for the tow truck to tow me somewhere. . . We found a small shop that was approximately 5 miles away. They checked it out and said the fuel pump had gone out on it. They replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. Parts cost 315. 00 dollars, labor was 100. 00, and misc. Charges and tax fees brought the grand total to 450. 00 dollars. Oh and don't for the tow and the gas that my boyfriend wasted driving down to pick me up and driving me down 2 days later to pick up my car. Old parts are not available!.
2003 chevy Cavalier fuel pump keeps quitting .
I own a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, and earlier this morning, the vehicle failed to crank after I was able to roll it into a parking spot. After some trouble shooting, I was able to narrow it down to the fuel pump was not coming on when the iginition was turned on. I caught a ride back to my house and began doing a little research and noticed this was a common trait for the 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. That is fuel pump failure around 60,000+ miles. My Cavalier has just a little over 64,000 miles on it. My car's failure was perfectly described in the many forums I read over. That's when I decided to check for any other recalls on this year car. I noticed that the NHTSA #pe07033 and the engineering analysis #ea07-015 pertained directly to my personal experience with this problem.

Fuel pump went out while driving causing vehicle to stall while on roadway and had to be pushed to a safe location. There was no previous warning that fuel pump was failing. Due to several other occurrences I've found online, this is a common problem with this particular make/model/year of vehicle.
My boyfriend was driving our car. I was in the passenger seat. We had been driving on the interstate for about a mile. Then the car stalled. My friend realized something was wrong when he hit the gas pedal and there was no response, so he placed it in neutral, steered and signaled until he got us and the car safely off the road. After, the car was towed into the dealers shop the mechanics said it was the fuel pump that had failed to work. Therefore, a new fuel pump was installed in the car.
