Fuel gauge intermittent short in wiring at sending unit. Received recall notice about possible short causing explosion hazard. Contacted [xxx] chev. In hoover, al. And was told I was over mileage limit for recall. Does that mean it won't explode after 75,000 miles? I paid $916. 00 for repairs. This sucks. The fuel gauge on my 2000 silverado does not work. Evidently, there is a problem with the sensor in the tank reacting to the additives in the gasoline. This braks the sensor down and causes the fuel filter to clog and to make the pump work harder and fail. I know of 5 or 6 people in my circle of friends and CO-workers who have experienced this problem. I appreciate any help, like I said I know of quite few people with this problem who would love to take gm down on this. Please contact me with any info, thanks again, bob.
