Tank Assembly problems of the 2000 Chevrolet C/k Pickups

The fuel gauge on my 2000 silverado does not work. Evidently, there is a problem with the sensor in the tank reacting to the additives in the gasoline. This braks the sensor down and causes the fuel filter to clog and to make the pump work harder and fail. I know of 5 or 6 people in my circle of friends and CO-workers who have experienced this problem. I appreciate any help, like I said I know of quite few people with this problem who would love to take gm down on this. Please contact me with any info, thanks again, bob. Damage resulting = huge cost, over $700. 00 at a gm dealer. Possible engine failure as fuel filter clogs and fule pump fails.
