The car died again as we were driving home but started on the fourth try. I parked the car and tried to guess what may be wrong. I replaced the fuel filter and had the fuel pump replaced (twice) finally had to take it to a mechanic and paid $766. 98 and several hours to diagnose a faulty ignition switch. 10 Ignition Switch problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Classic

Failure Date: 07/08/2010

My 2004 chevy Classic's passlock theft system has malfunctioned three times in less than a month. Fortunately I noticed the theft system light blinking and followed the instructions to get it started again. Afterwards I did research on the web about this and discovered that it is something common that is happening a lot after the mileage reaches about 65,000 of more miles. It seems the fix is replacing a faulty ignition switch. Why doesn't Chevrolet recall these?.

11 Ignition Switch problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Classic

Failure Date: 01/08/2010

Theft system activated and the vehicle cut off while driving causing a serious safety concern, this has happened numerous times, gm recalled this vehicle under recall number 14350, all the dealership did was apply small two small key rings, this did nothing to alleviate the problem, when I called gm to complain that the ignition switch is the problem and they should be replaced at no cost to the owner, they said that there is no recall for this problem even though this appears to be the exact fix for this problem, I paid my mechanic to replace the ignition switch, I would like to be reimbursed by gm. Thank you.
