I got the car a few years ago only drove it for 5 months found out about the recall. I had to pay for the car to go nassau bahamas. They never ship it for me . They paid the ignition repairs never gave me a rental car. Then I called back a few months about a warranty say 60,000 miles or 5 year they tell another recall for the same thing. So I started checking come to find all kinda law suit on that type model. They want the car off the road. I asked them to pay out the car. Can't get a response. They open but the bahamas office closed from covid-19. Still have to wait on a response.

I was driving down the interstate, when my warning light came on, and said "engn pwr reduced" it immediately slowed from 70 mph, to 10 mph and wouldn't rev past 2000 rpm's. The source cannot be found as to why it happened and almost cost me my life on the interstate.

The vehicle will periodically jerk/hiccup at random while driving. On January 8, 2015 while traveling on the expressway, the vehicle began to randomly sputter/jerk/hiccup. The vehicle did not loose power, or was there any indication from dash board icons of any malfunction. There was not any visble warnings signs to alert a faulty system. This has occurred previously, while traveling throughout the city at speeds of 25-45 mph. During the most recent incident, traveling speeds varied from 50-70 mph on the expressway. This particular instance I was driving a 60 mile trip and this jerking occured 7-10 times. The first time this occured was probably 1. 5 years ago. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic after the first instance, without anything being detected or a diagnosis. The issue is progressively worsening. It is beginning to happen more frequently. Last week, of the 4 days of travel on the expressway, the jerking occured 3 of those days. Initially, I felt, this was associated to the cold and weather/termperature, but this has also occured in warmer months. This is a definate safety issue, as it relates to myself, and others traveling in my vacinity.

I was driving when all of a sudden the screen flashed engine power reduced. I had to pull into a parking lot to keep from being hit. Now my car won't start all all. Had to have it towed home.
On June 18, 2014 while driving 45 miles per hour I suddenly lost power steering in the vehicle and the engine kept cutting out like it was going to shut off. I pulled into a store parking lot and the shifter would not work properly when trying to get it into park. Power steering light, engine light and several other lights appeared on my dashboard. . I called the dealership on June 18, 2014 to notify them of my power steering going out and the other issues described above. They told me parts were still not available. I did receive a call back that they did in fact have the part and to bring in the vehicle on June 19, 2014. My husband drove the vehicle 35 miles to the dealership with no power steering, the engine wanted to die every time he came to a stop and acted erratically the whole drive there. According to the invoice received the dealership mileage on my vehicle was 114, 340 and they performed recall 10023 v220 removed and replaced power steering motor with motor kit 1 19257875 motor kit. On June 20, 2014 the car was driven 320 miles. On June 21, 2014 I I had no power steering. On June 23, 2014 I had to have a wrecker service tow my vehicle back to the dealership. . On July 18, 2014 I picked up my vehicle. According to the invoice received the dealer performed recall 13454 (f-cylinder kit ), performed recall 14113 (removed and replace ignition cylinder and programmed 2 new keys per recall 14113). The mileage they say was on my vehicle on this invoice dated 7/18/14 was 114, 292. Don't know how my mileage went backwards??? on July 28, 2014 driving to work at 4:30 am going 60 mph my power steering light comes on, the engine is cutting out, the dashboard lights up, the speedometer needle is flickering uncontrollably and I have no where to pull over. This is the 3rd time power steering problem due to gm recall. Help!!!.
I know my car is involved with the gm recall for the ignition, as I called the Chevrolet 1-800 number. Yet I have still not received a recall letter. Which concerns me very much. How do I get a letter? and when will I get this letter. Why is gm not moving faster with this recall and trying to get the cars fixed, when it is so dangerous to drive the car, but we have no choice too.

Driving 45 on a state road and my car just powered down. No previous issues.
The ignition on the car is loose and just through the weight of the key chain and by hitting a bump, the key can shift out of the "on" position, causing the car to turn off. This has happened on several occasions, typically on the highway - the car will completely shut off. Fortunately, each time my wife was able to coast to the side of the road and restart the car. The dealership said that this is a common problem in this model year. The dangers of this condition are obvious.
After stopping at a light, I proceeded into the intersection and the car just turned off, locking the steering and would not restart. I coasted over the lanes of traffic and attempted to restart the car three times. Eventually I was able to restart it.
Vehicle was parked inside garage, filling tires with air. A cigarette lighter powered air compressor was being used to fill tires. Was only in use for a few minutes, when air compressor stopped. The fuse for the cigarette lighter was blown. This was a common problem with the car. On several occasions the fuse for the cigarette lighter would be blown for no apparent reason. I have only used it in the past to use my obd ii scanner, being that the obd diagnostic port is powered by the same fuse as the cigarette lighter. Besides using the obd scanner, no other things have been used via the cigarette lighter. Regardless the fuse would be blown. After the fuse was blown with the air compressor, I unplugged it from the cigarette lighter, only to see smoke coming from under the hood. The fuse melted in the fuse block. From there, the window wipers began operating, as well as the windshield wiper fluid being shot out from the nozzles. Smoke began pouring from the inside of the car, from under the dash. I quickly ran to the trunk where the battery is located, and disconnected the battery as soon as I could. Garage was filled with smoke, with the ominous burnt electronic smell.

On 01//24/2012 I was driving my 2005 Cobalt on the lodge freeway in michigan my car just turn off for no reason while I was driving at 55 mph ,yes I was injured and lost control of my car .
I was driving to work one morning in December at approximately 55mph. All of a sudden my tacometer went from about 2 to 0 and I was coasting to a stop. I made it to the side of the road where the car then just turned off. 55mph and my car just turned off!!! when I would try to restart it would start, but then turn off again when I would put it in gear. The car had approximately 170,000 miles, but anytime I would stop at a stop light it would die. I took it to my mechanic who was unable to diagnose anything wrong. I contacted Chevrolet, but they said that there wasn't a recall to be issued. I was always afraid to come to a complete stop because of the car turning off. I was also in the parking lot at work and was coming around the corner to pull into a parking space, the car died again! mind you this was the same day that I was going 55mph down the road and the car died. It took 11 tries to get the car to stay on so that I could get it to a parking place. Once I had it in a parking place and stopped, it died again. A recall needs to be issued before someone gets killed in an accident you peace of crap car people.
The power steering message was on and the car ran like a dog and shifted roughly and traction control light was luminated and had no power is similar to all other accounts on this year and model? I need to know if gm is going to fix it and if it happens again am I going to loose control of the car? I understand it has a recall on it but considering the miles I have on it are they going to honor the recall? I don't have money to fix it so I don't know what to do if it happens again? I never seen or had anything like this before and I have always had gm products form Oldsmobile, pontiac and mostly chevys I need reliable transporting on my job please tell me gm make this right by me [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. The locks on the door started going up and down and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact stopped and turned the vehicle off. After the vehicle was started, the failure was resolved. The failure recurred six times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the vehicle had too many fault codes to be diagnosed properly. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, did not offer any assistance. The VIN was unavailable. The current and failure mileage was 136,000.
I was traveling home with one other passenger in the car with me at 35 mph, the car turned off, the steering wheel locked up. I was scared and didn't know what to do. I shifted the car from drive into neutral and then restarted it, then slipped it back into drive. . . I've never been more scared then when I had absolute no control over my car. Im just lucky I didn't panic. This has happened twice to me. I now don't feel safe driving my Cobalt and very disappointed this problem has been fixed. To me I don't feel safe driving myself or my family in that car.
Complete power failure at random while traveling at 50 mph.
My 2005 chevy Cobalt cuts off on me whenever I am on hills, going through curves, stopping at red lights or stop sign and sometime when I am simply driving down the street. If I am in rush hour traffic it cuts off on the highway as well. Once or twice a week my power steering will go completely out while I am driving. I just read in the newspaper that if you only have the one key that it will not cut off but that's not true either. My car cuts off weather I use mu key on the key ring or the key that I have that is not on the key chain. Not knowing what was causing the car to cut off all of the time, I have changed the battery, ignition switch, and the throttle something or another. I have invested a lot of money into this car trying to figure out what the problem is. I am at my wits end t this point and was just about to give up when I read the article in today's (03/09/2014) paper. Maybe I can get some kind of help with this issue now.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that the vehicle would completely loose power sporadically, while driving at various speeds. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but denied any assistance with repair to the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 90,000. Updated 05/10/lj.
After starting the Cobalt or even if I am driving down the interstate at 70 mph, the t/c lights, brake lights, power steering lights all light up on the dash. The speedometer and rpm gauges start going crazy. The radio will also go in and out. Usually on the interstate, the car will continue to drive, which is very scary. But if I am in town or slowing down to stop, the car will cut off. Then after I crank it again and start to move, the transmission changes gears really rough and feels like it is going to fall out. The only thing I have found to fix this (after weeks at different dealerships) is to turn the car off and flip the key on and off several(20 plus) times.
Engine stops while driving - cannot steer nor brake so controlling the car to a safe stop is very dangerous occured 3 times over the last 3 months without any warning. Luckily the car restarts after a couple of minutes.
