Key got stuck in ignition ,now wont start car , now airbag light is on.
No start issue. Battery and alternator good. Wont start after it's been driven for about 1 hour. When you turn car off it won't start until it cools down. I have not been able to go anywhere because it won't start when I come out of store st shop again. New starter put in and won't start. They are going to keep looking.
Keep smelling fuel vapors on the rear left side of the vehicle. Checked the fuel filter and it seems to be working despite my gas mileage getting worse and worse. I've been burning a full tank of gas going less than 250 miles when I should get near 400 miles a tank.
Ignition switch was said to be the issue with my car and there was a recall for years 2005-2010 . Ignition switch safety issue. Starter motor is good. Battery is good. Alternator is good. Will not crank or start.
The vehicle overheated and shutdown while traversing rt 287 near boonton at speeds around 65. I coasted off an exit and came to a stop at park Ave and wootton st. While I was waiting for my vehicle to cool down so I could either fix/continue driving, it had become apparent that the engine compartment had started to combust. Noticeable by the sound of the fire. That left me rushing to empty out the vehicle of belongings in the middle of the road before the vehicle completely engulfed into flames. Note that prior to the engine overheating absolutely no warning lights nor indicators had turned on. When vehicle overheated the temperature light turned on and that was all until the vehicle was actually on fire and had shut itself off.
After driving car approximately 4 miles on county roads, at 25-35mph. I arrive at my destination, stop, shift into park, and reach to turn key off. I am unable to move key from the run position, and/or remove the key. So my car is sitting there running and I am unable to turn off the engine. After nearly 10 minutes trying to turn the key back to off while jiggling the key and the steering wheel, and shifting the gear shift down and back to park several times, I am unable to regain control of the ignition switch and key. I resort to pulling a fuse underhood to kill the engine.
These comments apply to many sedans! roof is too low! vision is obstructed . Can't look up. Can't see traffic lights change when stopped in front of them! roof supports, especially in the front make dangerous blind spots. Aside from this , I am only 6 feet tall. Yes I am now in my 60s. Most sedans are too low to the ground. I can't get in or out! especially if I have to park beside a curb. I can't get out! and just a note: airbags save lives but I hate bucket seats and consoles with cup holders. So many distractions now! I wish I could still have bench seats. Thanks.
Unable to remove key from ignition. After placing the car in park and shutting it off. You can not remove the key from the ignition. You are unable to turn the ignition to the position to remove it. This has happened repeatly.
The air bag light keeps saying needs maintenance and the motor has no compression.

The key is stuck in my 2009 chevy Cobalt car,I can not pay $300 to get it fixed,I'm a widow on limited income, what can I do? the car needs to be recalled,it's a lemon,no good, hope u can help me,thanks.
While I was starting the car my air bag lights started blinking on and off. While traveling on city streets the air bags was also blinking on and off.
The key gets stuck in the ignition and you have to wiggle and jiggle the key and the shifter to get it to come out. Drove the vehicle a short distance approx 15 miles, parked and key would not come out. Spent approx 15 minutes trying to get key out, finally after much wiggling and jiggling it came out.
The key gets stuck in ignition when parking car and turning vehicle off pulling key out gets stuck have to wiggle it out got hit on driverside front end no airbags came out the time I got hit driver side. It was because I tried to stop and vehicle kept accelerating wouldn't stop.
Tire monitor sensor defective.
Driving on a highway going 65 mph and the check engine light came on along with the traction light. The display says engine power reduced, service traction. I was nearly rear ended when this happen because my car automatically slowed down to 10 mph and stalled out and was barely able to get it over to the shoulder. I keep going to different mechanics and everyone says its something else and I have already sank over $1500 into this and yet it is still happening with no end in sight!!.
When the car is at a stable speed, typically between 30-45 mph, and the rpms around 1500, the car with jerk forward and the rpms will jump and drop repeatedly until you either accelerate, or let off the gas. This is a reoccurring issue that occurs during almost all commutes with this vehicle.
My 2009 chevy Cobalt is part of the recall affecting the ignition system, I have waited for months for the part to become available and finally received a notice stating the local dealership had the part. I contacted them to set up a date to drop it off only to be informed that they did not have the part. According to gm's ceo the parts would all be available by the end of October. I feel like I am getting a huge run around from gm in getting this vehicle repaired and need some help getting this finally handled.
I have recieveda recall on my car that I did get fixed and after the fact my car key was locked in the ignition twice after this service was completed. . I really don't want a chevy any longer. . Have had to may problems.
While driving the brake lights stay on,and when put on brake they don't come on. Happened last year and had brake light switch put in then in a week it did it again and another switch put in, and now it's doing it again. And I shouldn't have to put another switch on it already. I'm fed up with this, this is very dangerous. I need gm to fix this problem because I can't afford to. It cost me over 400. 00 and I don't have another 400. 00 to put it back in the garage. Please help ,before some thing happens and I hope not my life. And had to go 7 more times to pep boys and did fix the problem. It some how fixed it's self , but like I said the problem is back.
Between approx 45 and 60 mph vehicle sounds as if driving over rumble strips. Will stop vibrating intermittently above 60 mph. Vibration is felt from front passenger side. The steering wheel does not sway. No trouble shifting. Between 3 mechanics have been given 3 different answers: loose body part vibrating in wind, suspension, transmission. Had balance and alignment checked with no issues. Contacted gm dealer to check recalls and other known issues, none found. No previous symptons, vehicle drove normally until 6/18. Do not currently drive vehicle out of fear of something breaking or falling apart. Am still trying to get diagnosed.
I was going up a hill to go to work to pick up my paycheck that day. I pushed on the gas petal I was only going 10 or 15 mph when the car completely shut off. It lost all power and I freaked out; because it happened so fast that it scared me half to death. Thank god there was no one behind me. I put the car in park and put my foot on the brake and I had to restart the car. Then I put it back into drive and drove up the hill. I was so scared and frightened that it scared half to death. I am still scared and freaked out to drive the car. Everytime I drive it I am so nervous. I just want the ignition switch fixed. I just want it fixed. The car dealer in own told me they do not have the part to fix it yet. They told me I have to drive it and it won't be ready for another month or so. That does not help the situation at all. It only adds to the misery of it all.
I was driving and had to pull to the side of the road because the lights kept on going from dim to bright and the automatic lights kept on switching up and down real fast and the car just lost its powersteering there is a strong smell of gas coming from the car and when I put gas in it it takes a few minutes to actually crank back up. Im afraid while driving fast the eletric problems will cause serious harm. There was a recent recall on this model and all the problems I stated and I need them fixed.
I called the dealer we purchased our 2009 Cobalt from back in 5/5/14 trying to fix the recall problems. Twice a month I called back up until today and the answer they gave me was they are still waiting on parts. They transferred me to the voice mail of a person at the dealership who was handling all the recalls. I called back in the after noon the same day and got the same voice mail. I then deciced to call 800/204-0261 number given to me on correspondence from gm if I had been waiting more than 30 days for a response. The girl at this number called the same dealership to see if she could get an answer. It was the same answer. They are still waiting on parts. The ceo of gm mary barra sent a letter stating that replacement parts orders were going to be completed by oct. 2014. It is the second week of oct. And we are still unable to schedule a repair appt. To fix the two recalls for our Cobalt. In addition, no one (dealership or gm employees) can tell us when the parts will even be in. Just because gm has recognized, and admitted publically, that these faulty parts can, and have caused death, does not justify the delay in repairing the vehicles. Get me a repair date before anything happens. We, and so many others have been plenty patient .
I feel that for a recall that has caused several deaths, gm should be getting the replacement parts in quicker. It took them over a month to even notify me of the recall, and when I called my dealership to schedule the appointment they said it would be another 1-2 months before they could get the part in. It has now been nearly a month and it's not there yet. I don't feel comfortable driving a car that I know could possibly cause my death. It took them all these years to even admit to the problem, let alone all this additional time to get the parts in and the recalls completed. From what I understand, it's a minor part and doesn't take that long to fix them. I'm not very happy right now. I have an appointment for an oil change next Wednesday, June 11th, and would really like to have this recall taken care of at the same time to ease my concerns. I have to wonder how many more will be killed before these recalls are actually completed.
My wife tried to start the car on 4/30/14. Put the key in the ignition and try to turn the key to start the car the key wouldn't turn. It was locked up. The steering wheel wouldn't turn, the engine wouldn't run. Eventually if she comes back after approx. One hour and try again the key will turn in the ignition and the car will start. This happens couple of time a year since we bought the car brand new from the dealer. We contacted the dealer service department; they told us that they do not know of any such problem with this chevy model.
I am just trying to find out when parts will be available. I went to my dealer, bob hook Chevrolet, on April 22, 2014 and they ordered parts for my third and fourth recall. I have also received recall notices from gm. What in the world is taking so long to get these parts? are they waiting for an accident to happen?.
Driving vehicle on highway when engine check light comes on and "reduced engine power" message appears on status bar of dashboard. Repaired at dealership by replacing throttle control body. Occurred twice more over next 3 days, repaired at different dealership saying first throttle control body was defective. Occurred again 2 days later, dealership replaced crankshaft position sensor. Occurred again 1 day later. Need to take in for more service. Basic internet research shows that this is common problem on Chevrolet Cobalts.
I shut my 2009 chevy Cobalt off after I returned home. Upon re-entry, the key would not turn. The car was clearly in park, and the steering wheel was unlocked. Locksmith is coming to replace the ignition key, in the hopes it will fix. I just wanted to report this since the 2005-2007 models of my car are being recalled for the exact same reasons (per gm's number for this recall is 13454). It did not disengage while driving, except for once a week or so ago when I hit a speedbump and had to restart the vehicle, which did work after several attempts.
I have been waiting several months for parts to repair my 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt ignition switch. Meanwhile, I am driving an unsafe vehicle which has been unsafe for years unto my knowledge. I feel as though general motors should compensate owners who have to continue to drive these unsafe vehicles and wait extremely long unsafe time periods for recall repairs to be made. Knowing for 10 years about the ignition switch problem and doing nothing is simply crazy and unjust.
I was traveling at about 25 - 30 mph when with out warning my 2009 chevy colbolt began to spin in the most violent spin I have ever been in a vehicle. The brakes were not stopping me the rear of the car then slid around and slammed my car into a post or chain link fence hitting it hard. The front passenger door was creased down the whole side, the front quarter panel was all ripped up and the front passenger headlight was completely smashed and broken. When the car finally stopped my hand was twisted in the steering wheel while the car was spinning and the force of the car hitting sprained my back. No air bags were set off and I was brought to the er by ambulance. I have begun to have problems with my ignition since this accident. My key gets stuck in the accs position and I can not move it either way. I have to wait until the car sits for a while sometimes hours before it will unlock. Very scared to drive in this car now.
Ignition cylinder broke with the key in the ignition. Unable to turn off vehicle or remove key from ignition cylinder. This ignition cylinder was replaced once already under warranty at around 20,000 miles and has now failed again. The previous failure was the exact same problem.
Power door locks are defective. My Cobalt locks go up and down by themselves the switches or fob will work. By doing some research online hundreds of people seem to have this problem. It is defectove and general motors should issue a recall about this.
I was trying to turn my car on and I kept hearing a clicking noise. The car would not start no matter how many times I tried to restart it. I waited another five minutes it started and as I went to put the car in reverse it shut off again. I put the gear back into parking and then tried to restart the car, everytime it turned on it would shut off as I put the gear into reverse. So as I turned the car on again I went forwards to turn outward from the parking stall around the cement block but then the car shut off again and I hit the cement block which left a dent on the right side of my car. When driving to work it shut off in the middle of the road on my way to work. I pushed the gas pedal and nothing happened and then it just shut off. I took the car in to get serviced by the dealership, I paid for a vehicle inspection. The next day I went to school and my car would not start I was stuck in a parking stall again. I called the dealership and they said to bring the car in, I told them it was not running and it needed to be towed by them because I had just taken it in. They towed it and kept the car. The next day I called and they had not gotten to it. Then the third day I called and they still did not get to my car. Finally on the fourth day I explained to them that I had a rental and was paying out of pocket. They then told me it had to do with the clutch and that I had to replace it. So I did, I have the receipts. A few days later, it happened again. I tried replacing the battery. It happened again, I went back to the dealership and they said it was faulty wiring all along and that the wires leading to the power of the car were loose and rubbing against the ignition causing the car to turn off and they said they fixed it. Months later the car shut off again. I spent a lot and have all receipts and exact dates, I have since stopped driving car.
As I was merging onto the highway, my vehicle lost post without an apparent cause. I fortunately was able to steer the vehicle off to the side of the highway, where I removed my key and waited for around ten minutes. I was then able to start my vehicle. I approached a local dealer with the problem and they were unable to tell me a likely cause. It has occurred on several separate occasions in both similar and dissimilar environments since the initial incident, each time with out any precursor event or warning. It is truly frightening!.
