The vehicle anti theft light keeps coming on. When this occurs the vehicle jerks in drive, hard to stop, wheel will lose power steering in drive, and all needles will move. The rpm, mph, and gas needle continues to fluctuate. The gas needle will indicate low fuel when fuel is present. I can never know what speed I'm doing. The vehicle flashes power steering digitally. The car will shut off in mid drive! taken to many mechanics including dave gill Chevrolet and no one fully diagnosed the issue!.

This has happened twice, my car wont start and the anti theft on the dash comes on but there's nothing on to kill the battery. Also sometimes while driving my service air bag light comes on but goes off right after. Last thing is my power locks would go crazy just locking and unlocking either when the car was off or in motion.
4/14/17 vehicle svc-ignition recall 14113 lock cylinder & key 13454 ignition switch the vehicle was performing well prior to the recall service but now it appeared that the ignition was "stiff' to operate following the repair & the key seemed to periodically hang up when inserted. There was a random hesitation when making a u turn-as if the car briefly stalled out- no power, upon turning the wheel. Eve of 4/21/17, after being driven & parked on a city street for about an hr, the vehicle would not start although there was full battery power. The vehicle was secured & left to sit. Morn of 4/22/17 svc ctr was notified. Vehicle still wouldn't start, but, upon insertion of the key & initial crank, the car began experiencing sudden random clicks of the ignition switch, door locks engaging, dashboard panel flashing. Upon removing the key & reinserting it, the key appeared to have deprogrammed & the anti theft light was activated. The key was removed & the car secured. Later, attempt to engage the ignition using the second new key & was unsuccessful-the key would not turn to off position but locked in acc mode position. Later, the vehicle was towed per dealer auth. The tow truck operator noted that the car battery appeared to have drained by their arrival, the key would not disengage from the ignition & the car would not come out of park. 4/24/17 service found codes p0604 & p0606 control module ram failure + internal controller failure- dealer courtesy performed reprogramming, theft relearn & crank variation learn. The vehicle appeared to be operating normal after reprogramming & was set for customer pickup. The dealer svc ctr recommends replacement of the ecm if it reoccurs. There appears to be other vehicle owners that have experienced this ecm failure after having recall svc. Contacted chevy cust assist ctr & initiated a case record. Case pending.
Im driving and all the gauges go wacko swinging back and forth, anti theft light comes on check engine light abs light low fuel light traction light. It reads service traction power steering low fuel every light you can think of comes on and the car even jerks when changing into gear. At times the steering even has locked up on me, thank god at those times I was on a residential street and not freeway. At times it wont even start all the lights are just going basurk. Then theres days where its normal like it never even happened. Im afraid its going to lock up on me on the freeway and im going to have a serious accident!! the 2 recalls that my vechicle had have already been replaced but there is still issues!! this car needs to be completely recalled, I researched the issue im having and found out many many other people are having the same issue. Some people have even died!!! others major accidents, what more has to happen for this vehicle to be recalled? how many more people have to loose their lives?? this is a serious issue that needs to be taken care of ASAP!!! and when this issue occurs with the lights and gauges going crazy it happens as im driving. I pray nothing happens to my 3 yr old daughter and I. This issue has been happening for about an year now off and on.
Had ignition switch replaced for recall about a yr ago. While driving on interstate car showed power steering in info line. Then odometer , speed, info numbers all stopped working. Pulled in gas station, car won't start, key won't come out of ignition. After a few mins, car started back up and now anti-theft light is on. Managed to drive tha car 100 mi. Back home but noise like lawnmower coming from front and felt like transmission stuck or slipping. Was terrified that car was gonna blow up or just stop and get hit by semi. The car has also just stopped a couple of times after having the ignition switch replaced. I had no problems with this until it was replaced. I did have the fuel leak happen and the electrical lights stop working and dim or get brighter with braking. This car is so dangerous to the drivers as well as public, it should not be in the road and consumers should not have to spend money they can't afford to fix a manufacturers screw-up.

Was out shopping came back to my car and it wouldn't crank and the anti-theft lock light was on. Had it towed to the dealership and I was told it was the ecm. Went to get an second opinion and I was told it was the fuse box, then days later I was told it was the bcm. Then hours later I was told it was the bcm and ecm. These cars are very faulty cars and have way too many issues. It jerks and crank when it want to. Then it started stalling a lot and then take off at a high speed out of nowhere. Im so tired of this vehicle and the Chevrolet dealership and gm giving me the run around.
The radio started displaying phone and did not work, I do not have the option to plug in a phone to my car. This happened off and on for a week then on 11/17/2014 I went to start the car and the car would not start, the gauges went crazy and the ignition locked and will not let me take the key out. The anti theft icon keeps coming on and I now have to tow it to the dealer to have it fixed. I have had nothing but problems with this cars electrical system and from reading the other complaints here it seems that gm should be investigating these electrical problems and expanding recalls for these issues.

I own a 2007 chevy Cobalt. In 2013 my car went crazy. Power steering stopped working and all the electric components were all over the place. Rpm's were going up and down, full tank of gas said it was empty, gear shifter was clicking, and the car was jerking like it wanted to stall. I called chevy and they told me there were 2 recalls, during the same time my garage smelled strong like gas. I had the problem fixed twice. Now in December 2016 the car is going haywire again. Power steering goes out, all electric components start flipping out and the anti theft system light comes on along with every other light on the dash. My 17 year old daughter now drives the car and it is completely unsafe considering she is unable to steer and all the electric components go out. This must be treated as a recall! I've seen thousands of the same complaints. This is extremely unsafe and can easily cause an accident. Gm needs to take responsibility for this! does someone have to die before a recall fixes the problem? I paid cash for my car and bought it in 2007 with 12 miles on it. This is unacceptable and there needs to be a lawsuit against gm!.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering seized and the vehicle stalled. The contact had to wait a few seconds to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. After diagnosis, the contact was advised that the anti theft module had failed and was later replaced. Immediately after the repair, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000. The current mileage was approximately 109,507. Updated 03/07/lj the consumer stated the power steering will shut off, the transmission will shift very roughly, the instrument cluster go on and off,and the car will die at various speeds. When this failure occurred the steering would lock up. Recently, 02/13/2013, the vehicle had no power steering then, it suddenly turned on nearly causing the vehicle to fly off the road. Updated 03/11/2013.
The 2005 chevy Cobalt, as well as possibly every other model year Cobalt has more problems than just the power steering motor failures. The speedometer no longer works in my vehicle, the low-fuel warning pops up no matter how much gas is in the car, the engine warning light illuminates, as well as the anti-theft light, battery light (the battery is brand new) and just about every light on the dashboard. Though this isn't a big problem, the radio locks itself and cannot be used until the car is turned off and turned back on. The car struggles to get out of first gear and has stalled repeatedly at red lights and on ramps to the highway. I have had the power steering recall repair done twice and when I took the car back to the dealership in may because the power steering warning had popped up again and the power steering stopped working, they said it was not the power steering and they sent me home in my stalling, jumping car with no power steering. Speaking to a chevy customer service representative, they told me to go have the car diagnosed (they did run a scan at the dealership and came up with codes u2107, u2100 and u2105) and that I should be responsible for the cost. I asked why they didn't suggest this at the dealership, and was never given an answer other than a repeated I should be held responsible and it's probably a bad ecm or bcm. The car is out of warranty and chevy offered 50% of the repair cost, but how is this a problem that I caused and should be responsible for at all? this car is incredibly unsafe to drive and I have read a number of similar complaints for this vehicle online. Gm must be held responsible for their faulty vehicles. The power steering recall did not take care of everyone's problems and the customers should not be held responsible for the manufacturer's failure. ## VIN failed ## Chevrolet Cobalt 2005 ##.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated the vehicle would shift abnormally hard and would often jump when driving at various speeds. In addition, the vehicle would sporadically attempt to stall. The contact stated that various warning lights would illuminate on the instrument panel when the failure occurred. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer twice and each time the dealer stated that they could not duplicate the failure. The contact also stated that the automatic key fob could not be used to lock the doors because the anti-theft alarm could not be disarmed. As a result, the contact had to manually lock and unlock the doors at all times. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 71,000. Kmj.
I was driving my Cobalt all of a sudden the rpm's red lined and I had no power. I had to coast into a nearby parking lot. I waited about 30 min, started it back up and it seemed fine. Then I started to have trouble getting my key out of the ignition. There were several times I had to leave my key in the ignition because it would not come out. The next problem came when I would hit the brakes. If someone in front of me suddenly stopped and I had to hit the brakes hard, the car would idle really rough and shut off. That has been a constant problem for the past 2 to 3 years. I called the local koons dealership, they told me these problems were common and that I needed a new bcm. So, I purchased a new bcm. The service department told me that the bcm was "plug and play". Basically, it was a few clips, a few bolts and that I could install it myself, so I did. It didn't solve the problem. I called back and the guy that answered the phone told me to unhook the battery and wait 15 minutes, then hook it back up. Not only did it not solve the problem, but by unhooking the battery the anti-theft locked my radio. When I called back the third time the service department told me I needed to bring the car in and have them reset it for 300$. Being as thought I just spent 300$ on the bcm I didnt have the money. I bought the Cobalt because it was a chevy and a small reliable car. I was also a college student so the price was right. Since the recall for the ignition switch has come out, I called the koons dealership and asked about a refund on the bcm because that obviously wasnt the problem. They told me I was out of luck and they werent going to help me. Now, I have a death trap, im out the money for the bcm, and I dont have money for a new car. Thanks for sticking it to your customers gm! I will never by another gm.
The brake caliper was rattling because it was broke I had a auto repair man replace part then all of a sudden it brakes again that was for the front and back it also has elected electrical problems the windows work when they want and the car mostly always stalls it has even stalled on me in the middle of traffic on hwy what it does is act real sluggish and the more you press on the gas the more it bogs out and pulls back instead of taking off as supposed to the turn signals in the front always blow everytime replaced there is also interior electrical problems such as the interior lighting works when it wants to and the doors lock and unlock themselves with will unset the anti theft system and allow for prowlers to take the car.
Alarm goes off,the power steering and engine light come on. The car starts to jerk violently and the power steering goes out! if you come to a stop the car stalls. It does not happen all the time , but so far three times for me. The first time it was at the garage nothing was reading out from the codes. They have the car again and so far it hasn't acted up for them. But it is kicking out codes this time. Thank goodness my husband was driving because I could not have turned the steering wheel. There could have been a terrible accident!!.
Power steering light warning light comes on check engine light comes on, security anti theft light comes on all gauges fail, speed, gas, tack the car will run rough and stall car will not shift multiple computer error codes dealer replaced a computer component didn't fix problem. The car is unsafe to drive when problems occur.
Electrical system seems to be defective. When first bought car, the fan for the heater would not work. Finally, dealership took parts out of a brand new vehicle, since there were no parts made yet due to it being brand new, and replaced it. But, it still makes a whining when it is on #1 setting. The cd player would lock up all the time and simply say "locked". According to user manual, we are advised to take it to dealership and they will fix that problem. Upon taking car to dealership for that problem, they said there was nothing wrong with it because of course, it did not do it for them. So, we stopped trying to even use the cd player. The locked status occurs frequently for no apparent reason. Like, when going over a real bumpy part of the road. All of a sudden the lock button appeared on the dashboard. I was afraid the car was going to turn off on me. Sometimes the word "lock" comes on in the radio display and so the clock won't display. I have no idea what is wrong or why it is displayed. The real scary part, though, is when the dashboard displays the "lock" icon. Because I fear that the vehicle will just stop running since I read that it does have an anti-theft function that will stop the supply of gas to the car and I wonder if/when this will begin malfunctioning. Will I be on the highway traveling at 65 mps? I mean, more people need to let chevy know that this is happening so that it can be fixed. Lately, the vehicle will not start. It just will not start when we put the key in the ignition. All other lights and things turn on, but the engine won't turn over. Why, we don't know. Dealer claims we must have it towed to them and not get it jumped so they can take a look at it to see what is wrong. Has happened three times so far. Still no resolution to this problem. Feel that the problems are a result of the same defect-the electrical system. Guy that came to jump my car said the Cobalts have had lots of problems.
