1 Cruise Control problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

I have owned a 2010 chevy Cobalt since 2012. Shortly after purchasing, the check engine light turned on. The power locks erratically lock and unlock. The windows will become jammed and suddenly will not roll back up. Cruise control will randomly stop working. I had issues with the transmission which cost me over $3,000 to fix. Then, there was the ignition switch recall which the dealer fixed at no cost. But now I am having problems with the power steering. I have to turn my ignition off and on for the power steering warning message to turn off but then it turns back on a few minutes later. I am aware that there was a recall for the power steering but yet the dealer refuses to address this issue with my car because they say that recall was performed by a previous owner. The NHTSA website states bulletin 14115 regarding power steering recall began July 17, 2014. Mind you I have owned this car since 2012 and have not had the power steering recall issues fixed. N140115 also states that it includes "2010 chevy Cobalt and vehicles repaired in recall 10v-073 that received repairs prior to may 31, 2010. " therefore, they should be held accountable and fix this problem with my vehicle or provide me with a car that is safe. The first time my power steering went out I was on a freeway on ramp when my steering wheel locked up. I could have died! this is a life threatening issue and I sincerely believe this is a lemon car.

2 Cruise Control problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 05/29/2016

1. Cruise control engages on it's own and lunges forward, even in traffic at 10 mph speed. 2. Seat belt on drivers seat, while stationary, doesn't release easily and takes about 30-45 seconds at times to release. 3. While on the road driving, the car displayed all the information on the dash, such as; tire pressure, oil life, mileage, etc. , then the car's speed reduces and it flashes words "power steering" and then the car died in traffic and I was almost hit from behind before I could get the car off the road. I had to call a tow truck and be taken to chevy dealer and they found nothing wrong. This has happened again today, 5/29/2016 and I had to leave my car in store parking lot for four hours and then it started, drove 5 miles home and went out again right before I pulled into driveway. 4. While driving on the freeway, I engaged the brakes and they barely stopped me and brakes pads are good on car.

5 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 11/04/2014

While driving at highway speeds using cruise control the vehicle suddenly decelerated. This abrupt slowing almost caused an accident because I along with the other drivers behind me had no warning of such a sudden reduction of speed. A "reduced engine power" light came on, the vehicle would not accelerate to a safe highway speed, and it no longer exhibited the power necessary to climb a hill. If this had happened on a freeway or on a mountain pass it could have been extremely dangerous or deadly. The dealership diagnosed a faulty throttle body which was subsequently replaced. This however didn't rectify the situation and the condition still randomly happens. We no longer feel safe driving this vehicle.

The first time I called on starr for assistance. They found nothing wrong? it stopped both times after about 8 min of driving. It was scarry. When I park the car the dial hands on the dash the tac. And the speed dial jump like a shortage in it. Not long after I bought the car, the power steering failed with me and the car shut off several times. I took it to vidalia GA for repair. 11 Cruise Control problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 11/04/2012

After having taken my car into the Chevrolet dealer for a power steering failure the car acted up again. They replaced the power steering motor however after about 1 hour of driving the cruise control disengaged and the power steering message came on the display. The gauges started going crazy and the check engine light would flash on and off as well as the parking brake light. At lower speeds there was a clicking sound from under the automatic transmission box and the car jerked when changing gears. This is extremely dangerous as driving on the free way at those speeds can lead to fatalities. I am extremely thankful nothing happened. General motors needs to get this right as clearly replacing the power steering motor is not the solution to the problem!.

14 Cruise Control problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 05/14/2007

I was traveling home from work yesterday when a came upon a slow vehicle going at 55 mph. I was going at 65 mph. I turned off the cruise control when I came upon the slow vehicle and some oncoming traffic went by. When it was clear I started accelerating to pass the slow vehicle. As I was accelerating the gas pedal completely fell and stuck to the floor and rpms shot up to 4 , range from 0 to 8. The car accelerated to 70 mph then 80 mph, and then 90 mph. As the car was continuing to accelerate I tried braking but the car was still accelerating while it was braking at the same time. I was getting closer and closer to a car ahead of me. I was getting real close when I put the gear into neutral and I tried braking , but it was hard to press the brake pedal. The car finally slowed down and I managed to pull over to the side of the road. When I was pulled to the side of the road the car engine was still racing and the rpms were still at 4. I put the gear in park) and turned off the engine. I tried restarting the car, but initially it wouldn't start. I waited a few minutes and the car started. This malfunction almost caused me to hit another vehicle from behind at 90 mph! I drove home at 50-55 mph, afraid to go faster than 55 mph. I took the car to the dealership/repair shop where I purchased the car, and they told me it was only the floor mat that got caught on the gas pedal. After, I pulled off the road after the incident I checked the floor mat, but it was no where near the gas pedal, and why would the gas pedal fall into the floor if the floor mat was in the way? I am afraid to drive the car , and am now renting a car to commute to and from work. I called other auto repair shops, and they indicated that I should not bring the car in until it happened again. This incident almost caused a serious accident! so now I am just suppose to drive it until another incident similar to my experience happened again?!.
