1 Turn Signal problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 08/08/2017

About two years ago the left turn signal quit working. I have to turn it on and when I have made my turn I have to flip it off myself or it does not go off. I believe this fails to comply with federal motor vehicle safety standard number 108, lamps, reflective devises and associated equipment. If the turn-signals do not automatically deactivate, the driver may fail to turn them off manually. An erroneous active turn-signal may mislead pedestrians and other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Of course this happens when the car is in motion. I do not know the cause of the safety risk. I glance through the safety issue recalls and saw that a 2019 gm automobile was recalled with this issue stating the fmvss safety standard; therefore, I am submitting this same issue. The NHTSA campaign number: 19v117000. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

2 Turn Signal problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 10/02/2015

In the fall of 2015 I noticed that there was no turn signal sound indicating the turn signal was in use. At the same time I also noticed that all of the warning indicator sounds were also not working (set belt, door open with key in, low tire pressure, ect) none of the warning sounds are now working. It seems that the left front speaker is used for the transmitting of the warning sounds thus there is no sound from the left speaker. None the less I feel that with the warning sounds not working this is a safety issue.

8 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

The audio indicator for the turn signals, chime for safety belts, door ajar (all warning chimes) stopped working. The left front speaker stopped working for the radio as well. (I've looked this up on the internet, and supposedly all audio indicators come through the speaker. ) this appears to be a problem with many Cobalts, over a long time (I've seen it mentioned for many model years). It is always the same, the left front speaker stops working (none of the others) and the audio warning equipment stops functioning.

9 Turn Signal problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

At first my headlight bulbs just kept blowing and I had to keep replacing them. Eventually, one side went out and would only come back on after the bulb shield was adjusted. The bulb shields eventually stopped holding the device together and my headlights completely quit working all together. I also noticed a melted liquid running down from the bulbs themselves inside the shields. It was apparent that the wiring had melted. I took it to Chevrolet dealer in my city and was told that the entire wiring system melted and had to be replaced including the wire that hooks the system to the battery inside the engine. Turn signals are not even working at this point. I was told that I had to replace both head lamps instead of just the one affected one because if I didnt it would just burn out again. I was estimated $700 for the repair which was way too much for my pockets. I have already submitted this same vehicle for the power steering issues which I paid for and then was reimbursed 9 months later after the recall finally went through and the fuel pump issues that had a recall as well. I recently had to replace a fuel injector as well. I know that the 2005 model had a recall on head lights and I am sure that my vehicle has been affected by the same defective parts. I have been without headlights for 4 months now.

10 Turn Signal problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 07/12/2008

The headlights would hold moisture in the inside then the bulbs would mildew and go outduring the 2nd year and 3rd year of ownership. I have had to replace both headlight structures within a years time. Now the right turn signal goes in and out. The bulb has melted in the socket. All parts replaced since not under warranty now.

11 Turn Signal problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 01/31/2007

My power steering in my 2005 chevy Cobalt sedan goes out every so often for no apparent reason it has been taken back to a dealer once or twice for this problem. They have told me that I have to pay over 2 grand to get it fixed. With the recall out I don't know if mine is covered or not I can provide the VIN and other info. Problem started right after I bought the car and that summer had no steering what so ever. It has been a major issue for two years now it happens mainly when the car is driven over 80 degrees. And also one of the bulbs in the high mount third break light does not work anymore after being replaced more than once to see if it was a problem with the bulb. Front headlights have had to be replaced 5 times since buying the vehicle and I have gone threw more turn signal bulbs to count.

12 Turn Signal problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 06/30/2006

When making right turns, the turn signal indicator will cancel sometimes and not cancel sometimes. It does not seem to matter how far the steering wheel is turned. It has done this since it was new. The left turn signal seems to be fine. As this is a "company car", I have been instructed not to take it in to get it fixed until there is an official recall.
