The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado crew-cab. The contact stated that when the battery died and a new battery was installed, the automatic key fob entry became inoperable. In addition, the driver's side window would become inoperable and could not be opened or closed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact that the driver's side door control switch needed to be replaced. The switch was not replaced and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised the contact that there were no recalls and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 77,000.
Soon after new vehicle purchase in 1/04, cruise control periodically became inoperative. I do know if the brake lights were also inoperative. Dealer could not duplicate the malfunction and did not diagnose a problem. This problem occurred approximately 5 times over the next 2. 5 years. Recently, the cruise control became inoperative again, as well as the rear brake lights. I took the vehicle to the dealer and informed them that a recall had been issued, though I had not received a recall notice from gm. I presented the dealer with a printout of the NHTSA recall information. Dealer stated that there was no recall for my vehicle, and since my warranty had expired, I would have to pay for repairs. Repair consisted of replacement of the brake light switch. The total cost of the repair was $175. 04. I'm not sure if this has any connection, but the vehicle was inspected just prior to expiration of the warranty. One week later, and after expiration of the warranty, the battery died and required replacement.
