1 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2012

My 2005 Chevrolet Colorado will activate the abs system during braking on warm dry pavement and the vehicle will not stop. During these events the abs failure warning light was not illuminated. The brakes have failed at 4 mph and at 25 mph. Other times, the abs failure warning light is illuminated and the brakes work fine. No consistency and will not repeat for mechanic.

2 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2012

I have had numerous braking problems sine the third year of ownership. Abs light and stopping problems to many to mention! was told by dealership after $500. 00 that calipers were frozen from rust! also I have been getting abs failures also. Please have gm make this dangerous situation right. Does someone need to die before action is taken?.

3 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2011

Intermittent abs failure. Causes brakes to apply unevenly and sometimes without warning. Problem comes and goes.

4 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

I have a z71 crew cab 4x4 model. The abs system engages at low speed on dry pavement with zero wheel slippage. This is usually followed by the abs failure light illuminating. The system resets when the vehicle is turned off and the problem recurs the next day in an endless cycle. There are numerous complaints of exactly the same problem on several web forums. Abs brakes have been around a long time and other manufacturers do not have the recurring problems that have been experienced with this vehicle. The time is long past to make make chevy do a recall.

5 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

2005 chevy Colorado brake locks up on front driver side leading to hard left pull on vehicle trajectory and severe over heating and smoke emitting from wheel well. I have been forced numerous times to pull over to allow the wheel to cool down so it doesn't start a fire. Usually after a cool down the brake system responds for a while. I have had the Chevrolet dealer repair the brakes and was charged for the service. Chevrolet doesn't consider this a warranty issue and will do nothing about it even though there have been many complaints about their brake systems on the Colorado. I have owned the vehicle since 2005 and have had continual problems with the brake system and the abs failure warning lights and audible alerts. I recently had the brakes inspected and cleaned and new pads installed by monroe and was informed that this is common problem with this type of Chevrolet abs braking systems.
