Vehichle will not start when padlock dash indicator is blinking, if you wait 10-15 minutes padlock dash indicator will stay steady and vehichle will start. This has happened off and on going on 6-8 years now. You never know when the vehicle will do this, when I took it to the dealership it was working fine and they dealer would not look at it. A lot of other people have had the same problem according to some of the online forums I have visited. The ignition switch is bad but gm won't aknowledge the problem exists. Bought the vehicle new and it has happened on and off again for 6-8 years.

2 Ignition Switch problem

3 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2014

No crank, no start condition caused by defective ignition switch housing (pass lock sensor failure) that can leave owner stranded. This is widespread among gm and chevholet Colorado vehicles. Gm needs to redesign ignition switch housing and pass lock sensor to prevent failure and issue a recall. There is no recall notice or any indication that replacing the original ignition switch housing defective parts with identical, new parts does not guarantee the problem will not unexpectedly occur again. Part numbers replaced as indicated on repair order for this vehicle: 15795321 ignition housing; 26028106 bolt; 12377900 lubricant.

4 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that when the vehicle was shut off it would become difficult to restart. The contact was able to get the vehicle restarted after waiting twenty minutes. The dealer diagnosed the failure to be a failed ignition switch. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. Ne.

5 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2009

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the pass lock security system feature intermittently activated and that there was some sort of an electrical malfunction. The contact was not able to access the vehicle several times due to the failure happening with no warning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who replaced the ignition switch twice and the failure recurred. The contact attempted to access the vehicle and was not able to due to the security system activating upon trying to access the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to another authorized dealer who also diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure several times. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
