Temperature heater flap door, causes truck to go from normal temperature to red hot with boiling coolant in reservoir. Have spent thousands and thousands of dollars , on mechanics and parts! replaced water pump , thermostat, lots of cooling and heater parts and components . No luck and still no good running car , missing work and spending money we don’t have I read online about other trucks my same year and model having a recall on a temperature door. Causing it to overheat and a lot of people have had the same issue as I’m having. I looked up my truck. It doesn’t have it listed on the recall list but I’m sure that it’s the same issue.
Unknown other than I requested vernon Chevrolet in CT repair my recall on January 2, 2023 but have yet to hear back.
Truck will have issues with misfires or rough idle. Technician advised that the truck has excessive intake valve carbon which is a known issue for 2015 - 2016 Colorado and stated their is a bulletin for this know issue. However, this is not a recall even if they know this is something known that happens.
Engine control module-po442 leak detected and po496 evaporated emission system flow during non-purge. Also, inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module -1. B1425-03 control module power circuit. When we fill the gas tank it takes multiple times to start and stalls while driving, almost causing accidents. We have diagnostic report by firestone, advanced auto. First believed gas cap problem when started 2020-2021?problem has become more constant to point of us not being comfortable driving far for fear of accident or getting stuck somewhere.
Beginning in 2018, perhaps earlier, I noticed that often when I would press the accelerator all the way, the engine would (and still does) make a sound (I’ve since learned, through many dealership interactions and internet searches, that the sound is referred as pinging or knocking from pre-detonation), and it seemed that the car’s computer would (and still does) electronically back off the throttle, and the rpm’s reduced in terms of speed of acceleration (sometimes the rpm’s even decreased as opposed to merely increasing less rapidly). This has placed myself and passengers of the car in danger by causing the car to go through intersections significantly slower than I (as well as my mother who also occasionally drives the car) would naturally anticipate, as this slow crossing through the intersection has led to many close-calls when intersecting traffic (when they have the right-of-way) almost crash into the broad side of the truck. It used to occur I would put in any fuel with an octane rating lower than 91, but now it even happens with 91 octane fuel. The problem has been reproduced by two Chevrolet dealerships. I have taken it in many times to have them repair/replace/service parts that I thought might be causing the problem. The shop foreman at one location replicated it and said he had no idea what the cause could be. The service dept. Was then in back-and-forth contact with engineers at gm over the next couple of days, and the engineers eventually suggested an oil system flush thing (which ended up not helping). It’s had oil filter changes, fuel induction service, and basically everything short of replacing the injectors or pistons. Neither the vehicle nor its components have been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. No warning lamps or messages have ever displayed in relation to the problem. My CO-worker’s husband has a 2018 GMC canyon with a v6, and says the exact same thing happens with his car.
While driving on the highway, my vehicle show battery light and then hi temp due to a loose belt, after stopping on the shoulder of the highway, I inspected the engine compartment and found out that the air condition compressor bracket broke, I tow the vehicle back home and try to repair the broken part but I found out that Chevrolet has discontinue this part, no Chevrolet dealer, no third party and/or any auto part sales the broken part. I called Chevrolet and they told me to call dealer but I had no luck. My 2015 Colorado truck is parked on my driveway for the last 2 months. Chevrolet dealer can't help me since they say that Chevrolet discontinue the part. So, what can I do? how Chevrolet can help me with this query?.
My 2015 Chevrolet Colorado with a v6 engine has corroded oil cooler lines. I have scheduled a repair appointment with my local Chevrolet dealer. I believe this is a common problem with this vehicle. There are many incidents of similar problems with these corroded oil cooler lines. Also, my mechanic has seen this problem on many other Colorado trucks with v6 engines.
I was on the interstate going about 75mph when a car ahead of me was going slower so I tried to press my brakes to slow down when I applied the brakes my brake pedal would not move causing me to have to use my emergency brake to slow down. No warning light were on my dash then all of a sudden a message came up on my dash saying service brake system and engine oil low stop engine once I was able to completely stop the truck safely I notice I had no oil in my engine so the issue something to do with my brake system and my engine oil had I not known how to use my emergency brake it could have resulted in injuries or even could have been fatal. There should be some kind of recall especially since you have no warning when it happens.
2015 Chevrolet Colorado, z71 trim, v6 gasoline engine the ignition key is at times stuck in the ignition with no reliable way for removal. The switch will turn far enough to shut down the engine, however the cylinder will not turn far enough back to allow for removal of the key. There are several problems related to this exact issue online, meaning this is not a "one off" type of problem. There is also a gm service bulletin covering this issue. Bulletin pi1429 multiple times we have had to leave the key in the ignition as it could not be removed. The local dealer was unhelpful when contacted. They were unsure of the problem, unsure if it would be covered under warranty, the estimated cost, or even able to find the bulletin after I gave them the number.
Sometimes the temperature rises without reason.
My truck is acting crazy with multiple warnings in dash display, first one is stability track warning, steering warnings and the speed, temperature and revolution gauges start going up and down while the warnings are in the display. Also the have tw warning that I don't know what means.
Hesitates during acceleration. I have reviewed numerous complaints online with similar complaints. When accelerating from a stopped position the engine hesitates around 2000 rpm. It hesitates to a point where it is a safety issue. How many complaints have to be received before nhsta acts? it has been like this since I have owned it. Took it to the dealer - initially they said there was a computer patch. Still hesitating.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and would not immediately accelerate. In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated and the odor of fuel was present inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (Chevrolet of wasilla, 3700 e. Parks hwy, wasilla, ak), but the cause of the failures were unable to be determined. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 45,000.
When going just 5 minutes up the road and stopped at a traffic light, the engine stutters, then shuts off. There are no warning lights that come on when this happens. In just one week, it has happened twice. I have reported the engine stuttering before and the mechanics could not find anything wrong with it. I drive an hour to work each day and this is very unsafe. I drive through heavy traffic each day and I am afraid I will get into an accident if this continues to do this. I have owned this vehicle for only 10 months. This is very sad. I thought it was the oil or "bad gasoline".
Hesitation when acelarating bad almost got in wreck took to chevy dealer they know about it would not do anything about it only has 9050 miles on it. In motion.
The contact owned a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving approximately 55 mph, another driver alerted the contact that smoke was emitting from the engine compartment of the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000. The VIN was not available.
Had dent repaired on drivers fender, picked up truck from dealer, drove 4 miles home to put in garage. Next morning at 5:30 am discovered truck fire in garage due to electrical wiring harnesses. Extensive damage to garage and garage floor. Extensive damage to truck's electrical and engine area. Dealer told me it is a gm problem. Now dealing with gm legal dept. But this could be a major problem with all 2015/2016 trucks, no warning what so ever prior to incident. Vehicle is a 2015 Colorado not 1 year old with 8300 miles.
The contact owned a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle independently lost power and an unknown warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact noticed a burning odor inside the vehicle and the rear of the vehicle caught on fire. The emergency brake had to be applied to stop the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Vehicle bucks and hesitates when pressing gas pedal riding in 6th gear at speeds up to 50mph. If you give it gas it gets worse and finally after 5 secs it will down shift 2 or 3 gears and go way to fast. I have taken it to dealer twice and they said transmition was still in learning mode and should clear up. Well its at 15,000 miles and still has problem. If I put it tow mode it does not happen. . . Shift point calibration is needed badly on this truck.
Colorado has a great deal of hesitation at low speed when acceleration is applied. Vehicle lurches, shrugs, spark knocks, has delayed throttle response. . . . Seems to "chug" until a heavy throttle is applied, then the vehicle "jumps" to a gear/rpm. Very dangerous when trying to accelerate normally and "get out of the way" of other traffic or just climb a slight incline. Chevrolet dealership says this is "normal". This may be normal for Chevrolet, but it certainly is not acceptable for the consumer that wants a responsive throttle when acceleration is required. . . . . . This has been an on-going issue with the truck since it was purchased new in April 2015.
I wanted to reach out to you on Chevrolet’s claim that their engine achieves 305 horsepower. While it may be true that their engine achieves this figure it does so at a stated 6800 rpm. The 6800 figure is important to note because the trucks’ red line indicating potential dangerous operating conditions start at 6500 rpm. So in essence in order for an owner to achieve 305 hp they would have to be operating their truck in a potentially dangerous manner. Even in the 2015 Colorado owner’s manual it indicates the danger of operating above the redline… “do not operate the engine with the rpm’s in the warning area. ” gm is stating that someone can achieve maximum hp only by operating the vehicle in a dangerous manner. . . . Really?! I believe it will only be fair for Chevrolet to re-evaluate their maximum horsepower prior to their engine hitting the redline.
Sluggish engine after slowing down and then trying to increase speed, engine jumps and hesitates for a few seconds then if you stomp on the gas pedal it downshifts and takes off after reving to about 5,000 rpms. This usually happens when slowing down to about 20-30 mph then starting to increase speed. It is truly embarrassing owning this $37,0000 truck. Dealership and gm customer service stated that the engine needs to learn how I drive and adapt. Really? the engine is remaining in too high of a gear and not downshifting and supplying the engine power that is required in traffic. This problem has existed since I purchased the vehicle 11/1/14, I've ignored the problem hoping it would go away but here I am.
