1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2026

While driving my family home on a hot 90+ degree day. My 2016 chevy Colorado suddenly has a power loss engine died and I went from 75 to parked in less than 30 seconds. Luckily I was able to pull off the freeway to the median. We were almost hit by two vehicles pulling a trailer and the other pulling a RV. I had to have someone pick my kids up due to the hazards of being stranded on the side of the freeway. We had to have the truck towed. The code we got was for a fuel pump control module. We replaced and had it programed. This did not fix the issue. After further diagnostics from a auto mechanic shop, which we had to pay out of pocket. We learned it was a lifter failure. I have see numerous forums and people sighting "lifter failure" in chevy vehicles. Where most of us owners have to cover all cost out of pocket. Yet still "no recall" for this issue that seems to be worth a recall. Next issue the speed sensor which we have replaced it 3 times now in less than 2 years.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2025

On October 3, 2025 the driver of the 2016 chevy Colorado we own, left our house and drove . 5 miles where he stopped for a red light. The light turned green and he accelerated to make a left turn. At that time, the gas gauge dropped to "e", the truck engine turned off, and gas emptied from the gas tank. The driver managed to coast the truck onto the curb and out of traffic. The gas smell was overpowering. This could have ended badly in many ways. Had he been driving on interstate, he would have been trapped, and any spark could have ignited the truck. Even the tow truck driver knew there was a gas leak without even examining the truck. The truck was towed to our house until arrangements were made tor the repair. The truck was towed again to the chevy dealership (total tow charges $344. 85 invoices not available at this time). The repair shop found both the fuel pump and fuel feed cracked allowing gas to spew out. The VIN number was searched for the NHTSA recall number 18v-358 and the chevy recall number 18188 and was not found. There were no warnings of the impending failure and no one was injured due to the failure. The vehicle repair was completed on October 15, 2025. Removed parts are available for inspection. We contend that the problem is related to the recall for the fuel pump in above recall numbers.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2025

Fpcm code p069e. Engine stalls when slowing down. Local dealer says to check wires around water pump area if rubbing and unsecured.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2022

Yes I am filing a complaint due to my high-pressure fuel pump line and also the fuel pump. The fuel pump works but it is very dry rotted on the top therefore resulting in a lot of cracks and pressure loss. I have a 2016 chevy Colorado four-door. When I go to look up recalls there is recalls on the 2016 to 2018 chevy Colorado’s due to this exact problem. But when I call dell earnhardt Chevrolet in tallahassee florida they state that it does not include my VIN number. I think it’s kind of funny that my truck is having this exact issue but not this phone number please obviously the recall needs to be expanded to include my VIN numbers. Anyway it goes I have a 2016 chevy Colorado that I paid cash money for and there is no way should my fuel pump be dry rotted and cracked like it is and the fuel pump is still in working condition. What led me to this diagnosis was I was driving down the highway when multiple times my vehicle jaunted to a halt. I was able to crank it back up and go a few more miles before it would happen again. At this point I took it to my mechanic to put it on a code reader and it was reading fuel pump modular. I cut a hole in the bed of my truck and was able to save fuel spraying everywhere for my high-pressure fuel pump line. I ordered this line from dale earnhardt Chevrolet for $62. When we get there and put the line on the fuel pump it is the fuel pump nipple and the top of the fuel pump is extremely dry rotted and cracked. There is no way should the fuel pump be dry rotted and crack on a six year old vehicle. Like I said the light never came on till after a few times of shouting me to a halt and this is my complaint.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2021

After fueling, the vehicle cranks but does not start. After sitting for approximately 10 minutes, the engine will start but idles roughly for a few more minutes. Also after long highway drives, the engine will run roughly and occasionally stall when the vehicle is stopped. Vehicle was brought to dealer who diagnosed as a faulty purge solenoid. This is a known problem in 2015 models as detailed in gm special coverage adjustment letter #18029. This 2016 model year is not included.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2021

I smell gas intermittently. Very strong while driving on highway and city streets.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2021

The (emissions) evap valve issue seen in 2017-2020 models that have an active recall put, is happening with my current model (2016), yet no recall has been sent forward for 2016s.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2019

The check engine light came on it popped up engine power reduced wouldn't go over 35 miles and hr on the interstate is not a good thing. I pulled over turned car off. Turned key back on started it was fine. A couple weeks later pulling out in traffic check engine. Light. Comes on and loses power again almost get hit. Go to parts. Store to plug machine for diagnosis. First it said unknown. So we do it again pa201 00 code. Computer said co2 sensor. I was told a TSB bulletin came in for this software update but nobody wants to talk about it they just want to fix it then charge. U for it. But. I think it should be covered software issues shouldn't be absorbed at customers exspense. My truck is a turbo diesel its hard to find parts for it at part store and diagnostic machine just getting in oil filters. Anyway in response of software it should be covered by someone else besides me. Before it loses power and vet's me killed or I. A wreck need issue resolved.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

The vehicle was on a street stopped at a stoplight with the left turn signal on and in drive. The vehicle radio and electrical system powered off and reset without known cause and the vehicle engine and electrical system shut down. The vehicle was restarted by placing the vehicle in park and using the key to start normally.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2017

2016 chevy Colorado with less then 10,000 miles. At low rpms on any incline truck will buck, sputter, and hesitate rather than automatically shift into lower gear. In city traffic, after slowing to make a turn then accelerating, truck will buck and sputter and drive train will make a hammer sound after engaging . I took it to dealer who said he could not duplicate problem, although this is a known problem.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2017

Vehicle has erratic downshifting and upshifting of the automatic transmission causes abrupt changes in acceleration and deceleration that sets up sequences that force the driver to continually press down on, or let up, on the break and or accelerator to attempt to blend in with stop-and-go traffic. Only getting 15-16. 5 mpg city driving.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2016

This vehicle's erratic downshifting and upshifting of the automatic transmission causes abrupt changes in acceleration and deceleration that sets up sequences that force the driver to continually press down on, or let up, on the break and or accelerator to attempt to blend in with stop-and-go traffic. In very heavy traffic, present when entering or leaving large cities, the onset and continuance of this vehicle's performance worsens resulting in driver fatigue and extreme stress, brought on by the ever present necessity to be extra watchful and to maneuver to avoid hitting the vehicle in front, or being rear-ended. When driving through mountainous terrain at today's interstate speeds, there is recurring "bumping" that sets up when ascending long grades. It creates the feeling that either the transmission is attempting to downshift but then changes its mind, or the engine's rpm are about to increase but don't. This adds to fear of imminent failure and being left stranded. This behavior was present from the very first time the vehicle was driven. It's getting worse. This driver believes the unsafe operating performance of this vehicle as described above, is exacerbated by the combination of the small, 4 cylinder engine coupled to the 6 speed transmission, that requires the engine to rapidly downshift or upshift to provide the needed performance required in today's driving environments. Further, it is evident the software controlling the transmission's operating behavior was neither fully developed nor tested throughout its anticipated full operating range and as such creates a vehicle that is dangerous to operate on public roads attempts to have these issues addressed with the dealer resulted in being told. . . " nothing can be done. . . The problems you are encountering are being are being experienced by many customers. Chevrolet is not providing any solutions".

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2016

Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, when the forcefully began to decelerate it's speed. The contact stated check engine warning light was illuminated and regeneration in progress message was on display. The contact was able to drive at 20 mph to his destination. The vehicle was taken to local dealer ron westphal Chevrolet ( 1425 ogden Ave, aurora, IL 60503;(630) 598-1029), where it was diagnosed with needing diesel plug filter to be cleaned. The vehicle had been repaired, but the contact stated he had experience the failure again on 1/13/2018. The vehicle was taken back to dealer and was had the diesel plug filter to be cleaned for a second time and restarted the software of the general computer system. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 13,565. Dp.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2016

When merging onto I-70 freeway from on-ramp, I applied throttle to move into the traffic flow. Engine "stumbled" as if in a dead spot. Truck did not accelerate and appeared to be lugging badly. Transmission was in too high a gear and seemed to be searching for correct gear. During this time oncoming traffic was forced to brake and there was a near miss of having a rear-end collision. All I could do was watch in the rear view mirror as traffic converged on me. This "dead throttle / wrong gear" issue has happened repeatedly on surface streets but luckily on surface streets I was not in such a critical situation. This is a problem that has been reported repeatedly and at many places on the internet. When will NHTSA force gm to address this issue? hopefully you will act before this results in serious injury or fatalities (if it already has not). Please act!.
