1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2026

In and out of the shop for the last 3. 5 years (warranty is expired now) with multiple engin codes (cel). Most having to do with the fuel delivery systems. Most common p026d, and p1089. It has been in the shop at least 6 or more times. Gm won't stand by their product. Since the warranty ended I've put mor than $4,000 in to repairs for this and now I'm told it will cost me anouther $6000 to $7000 to repair. I bout this truck used with 60,000 miles on it and paid cash $50,000 to the dealer the originally sold it to the previous owner. I just want them to fix the issue once and for all. To date they have just thrown parts at it but it never fixes the problem. They have changed the map sensor, the fuel rail and pressure regulator, the injectors, and they've re-wired part of the wiring harness. None of this has solved the issues.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2024

I purchased my 2019 chevy Colorado z71 new in Feb 2019 from a dealership. About two years ago I began having shifting issues from 1st to 2nd gear, it would shudder and seem almost stuck, this would only occur infrequently. Right after I hit 100,000 miles (about a year ago) I have had nothing but issues with the 8 speed transmission, my vehicle is unable to shift from 1st to 2nd without having the shudder occur, it feels like the whole truck is shaking and loses power at acceleration. I took it in for their recommended "service bulletin" which was something that I had to locate myself because gm has not once communicated about there being any kind of shudder issue and they performed a simple flush of the transmission, not the service bulletin recommendation of three flushes and a different fluid. My truck is now in the shop because I am unable to drive it due to this ongoing issue that gm fails to recognize and so far have spent $1,000 attempting to rectify this issue and being told that in order for them to actually perform the service bulletin, it will be another $225 to diagnose the problem, around $500-$700 to perform the service bulletin, and then if that "does not fix the problem", I will have to spend another $900 on a torque converter because that "could" be the issue, the dealership "doesn't know". Then the third fix would be to replace the transmission ($5500-$8500) this has been a known issue since manufacturing and gm is failing to provide adequate assistance to fix a known problem with their 8 speed transmissions. I no longer feel safe to operate my chevy Colorado in fear that it could cause serious injury to myself and others due to gm not being able to provide a safe fix to their ongoing issue.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

The bolts that secure the high pressure fuel pump to the engine head broke apart causing the vehicle to lose power and leak gasoline.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2024

The high pressure fuel pump detached from engine and snapped off flange and bolt in the head of engine . The part is available for inspection and was removed by dealership. Vehicle was being driven at highway speed at time of failure. Narrowly avoided an accident as truck lost power and went into limp mode. There was no prior warning leading up to failure.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2024

While driving the vehicle lost power, would not go over 15 mph. There was a loud rattling noise from the engine. Check engine light came on. Loss of power and speed prevented me from keeping up with traffic. Had vehicle towed to Chevrolet dealership was told high pressure fuel pump mounting bolts had broken and fuel pump was loose. Dealer replace fuel pump and one fuel pipe (part #12627128). I paid full price repair ($ 1,775. 21) and contacted Chevrolet to see if they would offer any assistance I was under the power-train mileage but over on time. They offered and I accepted 50% of the repair cost but no towing. After some research I discovered there was a recall (18v358000) for an erlier model for a similar problem . The recall was for the fuel pump separating from the base which could damage the fuel line and create a fire hazard. In my case the entire pump came loose which leads to the same result as the pump separating from the mounting plate.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

This truck has roughly 41000 miles on it. As I was driving home from work on [xxx], I heard a faint noise and then my truck just lost power and died on the freeway. There were no engine warning lights on and did not want to restart and stay running. After a few times of starting and dying the message on the dash said keep driving engine is in regen. This is a diesel truck and the newer ones have a regeneration that is done with def. I was unable to get it off onto the exit, but did get it off the roadway. The vehicle was towed into the shop on February 3rd, 2024. The shop had to order parts and said that it was just a faulty part. I received the truck back on March 14th. I drove it home from the shop and to work for two days putting roughly 100 miles on the truck. On my way home on [xxx] , the truck died again with no warning at all. Same symptoms, just no power and no warning. The truck was towed back to the shop where it still sits today. The problem is there is an issue with this thing dying without any warning at all. The dealer and Chevrolet techs have been unsuccessful in finding the problem. It has been almost 6 months in the shop with literally no idea of what is wrong. I feel this is a serious safety issue that could leave people or families stranded without any warning or idea of how to repair. I feel this should be investigated and brought to someone's attention. I have contacted Chevrolet, but unfortunately they have left everything up to the dealership. The dealer is auburn Chevrolet in auburn, wa. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
