Traveling approximately 45 mph on a main road and brakes automatically engaged causing vehicle to abruptly stop. This due to faulty automatic emergency braking system that has allegedly already been repaired with a software update. My child and I were in the vehicle and had another vehicle been directly behind us or even oncoming we would have likely been involved in a collision. There was no warning that came on other than the red flashing lights and beeping that engaged the same time as the automatic braking. I will likely have to go to seek medical care for soreness in my neck and back from the jarring of my body from the abrupt stop. Waiting to hear if daughter is feeling any pain as well, as mine onset through the day after the incident.
Recall was performed on truck about a year ago for the pedestrian collision automatic braking. Today the truck locked up the brakes in traffic and there wasn’t a pedestrian in sight. I believe the recall didnt truly fix the issue, as it has given false alerts before without applying the brakes.
Radiator inlet hose leaked which caused low coolant. Check light alerted. Replace the hose. Parts are on backorder. Also had a recall on the emergency brake assist. I took this in for the recall however the alert assist still goes off.
Chevrolet Colorado slows down for no reason.
Forward collision braking activated for no reason and will hard brake. Has done it in the middle of an empty parking lot as well as when driving 65 mph down the highway, twice. No major injuries happened either time other then sore necks and seatbelt marks. On 2 incidents only the driver was in the vehicle, the other incident consisted of the driver, front seat passenger and 2 children in the back seat. The vehicle has been inspected by dealership. The vehicle now has brake and router problems, which the dealership has said is from hard braking. The vehicle has a bad vibration when applying the brakes.
Was driving approx 30 mph down road when alert/light flashing for crash detection. At the same the brakes slammed on causing the wheel to pull to the right and pulling the wheel from my hands. This sudden stop was abrupt enough to leave seatbelt mark on shoulder. There was no car in front or behind me in my lane of travel. There were no people on either side of the road walking. I have had the light go off a few times with the bell but no sudden braking until an update was run last night. Which according to the chevy recall was for ecm issue. Recall software update n242452130. I called the dealer , spoke the service manager mike and told him what happened. He tells me him and his wife bought a 2024 chevy equinox that did the exact same thing. Ok, how is that supposed to make me feel better? the braking was violent and if it happened in city traffic I have no question in my mind that would have been a [xxx] crash. Every single time there is an update push there is a problem. This has been the worst. After looking up the VIN does not show part of the original recall from your agency. The collision avoidance system quit working. The warning light was displayed on the instrument cluster but no other warnings were sounded. After taking it to the dealer for repairs, they got the light to go out by downloading another software version, but it did not fix the problem. It only removed the light. The truck still would not give a warning when approaching another vehicle too fast or get too close at certain speeds. The dealer has kept it so far a total of 12 days and have yet to fix the problem.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, grieco Chevrolet of delray beach (2605 s federal hwy, delray beach, FL 33483) where it was diagnosed and determined that the front collision wiring system, the electronic control unit, and the evaporative emissions control system needed to be replaced. In January of 2024, my husband was driving our 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. He was pulling onto our street driving approimately 5 mph. The vehicle suddenly stopped for no apparent reason. At this time, we did not file a complaint because it was a minor incident and no one was hurt. We brought the vehicle into the Chevrolet dealership for a safety recall for the front cameras . On [xxx] I was driving at 830am on a highway in the fast lane. No other vehicles were near me in my direction. No one was in front of me, besides me or behind me. I was driving approximately 57mph on a very clear and calm morning. My 2023 Chevrolet Colorado came to an abrupt stop for no reason at all. No lights flashed on my dashboard, the vehicle did not shake, warning me that I was shifting lanes (because I was not), nothing came on at all. I was given zero warning that the vehicle was abruptly stopping. I have severe whiplash and have been undergoing treatment for this trauma. No police report was filed because there was no damage done to the vehicle. I immediately called, reported and turned the vehicle into the local Chevrolet dealership here in reno, nevada. Gm's third party did a full investigative report, pulled the black box from the vehicle on December 15th, 2024 and just today, 70 days after the claim, gm informed us that they want to buy the vehicle back. Gm is claiming "what happened is consistent with the unwanted or undesired automatic emergency braking system failing. " this is the only communication we have had with gm thus far. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

3 different issues 1. Automatic emergency braking: was driving and truck slammed brakes twice at 55 mph to 15mph there was no cars or people anywhere around truck when it happened. The jolt was so bad my neck and my wrist hurt for 3 to 4 days, if there was it would have caused an accident. Took truck in twice once to for recall and 2nd for the brakes slamming. Chevy said they couldnt make it happen again so they cant fix it. I explained it didnt happen for over 11,000 miles so how I just have to wait until it happens again. The light and sound still goes off randomly but brakes haven't slammed yet. Very dangerous this really puts mine and others at risk. 2. Windows don't always go down part has been on order may still waiting Aug 11, 2024 3. Recently truck won't start battery dead. Going to take in tomorrow. I reached out to gm due to chevy dealer said they are the only ones that can fix issue. That didn't work either. I still have a brand new deg effective truck. Don't know what else to do. Lawyer says to take it in 2 more times then they can start a case. All I want is it fixed specially when I bought it new.
Got a letter that my vehicle had a recall on adas system. Took it in to get fixed. A week later was driving home from work on a straight away and trucks brakes slammed from 50 to 15 then let up. The impact was like someone hitting me from behind. Strained my neck and wrist. Because I was in shock it happened so looked around and there was only one truck 2 lanes on side of road. When the brake released I started driving again. 3 min later it then happened again. I was scared it would happen again so I drove home real slow. We took it back in to get fixed on 04 30 2024 at t he chevy service in hemet. Roger used a sensor reader showing brakes locked up twice. They said they checked it and because there was no issues showing. They didn't fix it. Roger said they drove it 10 miles and nothing happened I explained I have driven it 11000 miles and nothing happened until last week. How can they send me away without fixing a very dangerous issue. As of today 4302024 it can still happen. I was lucky there was no cars behind me that day it would be a different story. Now I have to call gm to try and get them to tell hemet chevy to fix it so no one gets killed or hurt next time it happens. What ever happened to fixing the issue?.
While driving with no other vehicles surrounding us, the pick up truck all of a sudden activated the breaks.
Driving along a two lane country road when out of know were the truck lock up the brakes, there was know traffic in front or rear, lucky for use. The only thing was a park car about 200 ft off the road with no one in it. I have since taken the dealer who spent 5 hours looking at the system only two come back and tell me it working as designed. He told me to be careful as it is very sensitive. Boy ain't that great, the thing that's supposed help you to avoid crash got cause a crash.
When driving through an intersection, the vehicle incorrectly applied the automatic emergency braking system. There was no risk of crash, however the application of the hard braking in the intersection put me at risk of a rear collision. I do see that the new recall is supposed to address this issue.
The automatic emergency braking system failed me today. The truck is available for inspection. I was driving at about 45 mph, when a car pulled out from a driveway infront of me when it probably should have waited, but there was still time for me to brake safely. I started to apply the brakes and the truck slammed on the brakes, no red lights on the dash flashing, no warning beep. I pulled my foot off the brake because I wasn't sure what was happening but, the truck slammed the brakes to a full stop. . Instant stop! if there had been a car behind me, I would most certainly have been rear ended. The seat belt locked up, my body was thrashed forward twice because of the quick slow down and the stop. I'm sore, scared and not sure what to do. This isn't something that can be recreated without putting someone else in danger. This is not a safety feature, it's an accident waiting to happen!.
Vehicle panic braked for absolutely no reason at all. I was rounding an ascending curve, there were no vehicles within sight in front of me. Fortunately there were none directly behind me either.
Twice in the first 6000 miles this vehicle has suddenly activated the forward collision avoidance system with emergency breaking although no cars were around. Fortunately a vehicle wasn’t behind me otherwise there may have been a collision. I took the vehicle in for service with this complaint and the dealership simply said they could not reproduce the issue during a test drive. Obviously this wasn’t helpful.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking system activated erroneously, and the vehicle decelerated to 10 mph before the feature released. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 5,500.
While driving the vehicle on three occasions the automatic emergency braking system activated for no apparent reason. The unexpected activation caused the vehicle to brake very hard and the possibility of a rear collision from a following vehicle could have been catastrophic. There were no symptoms or warning indications prior to the incidents. I have deactivated the aeb system until the dealer can correct the problem. I just learned of the problem on 2/22/24, so have not had an opportunity to have the problem corrected.
Vehicle at random moments will automatically make the vehicle brake to a complete stop. Very dangerous thing to happen and has happened about 5 times and one time my vehicle was side swiped as the vehicle maneuvered away from and hit my rear right side to avoid my braking on the freeway.
Unknown. Driving down the hiway the comes to sudden stop when the forward collision is on when nobody is in front of me. Almost got rear ended by a transport truck.
I had read on a forum for the 2023 Colorado that this had happened to people but I didn’t think it would happen to me. I was driving along a road with no other vehicles and no obstacles in front of me going 40 miles an hour, and the front collision avoidance system kicked in and the truck brakes locked in. The truck went from 40 miles an hour to a complete stop almost instantly,. I was very fortunate that the roads were not icy and there was nobody behind me because that could’ve been very dangerous. Something needs to be done. There are multiple issues with this new model that general motors doesn’t seem to be taking action on.
Twice the truck has randomly activated the front collision emergency braking system. One time was going around a turn and it activated, put the steering wheel straight and I almost tboned another car. Another time I was going straight nothing in front of me and it activated almost causing me to be rear ended.
Within 24 hours or purchasing this brand new truck (5 miles on it) sensor issues began and slowly escalated from a service door latch system error to auto braking engagement for absolutely no reason at 35-40 mph and side mirror warning sensors turning and staying on causing all windows not to move. There have been other issues as well however those are the most alarming as they directly effect the safety of the driver and passengers and the inappropriate auto braking engagement could cause injury or death to the trucks occupants as well as drivers around them. This problem is discussed widely on chevy Colorado forums as many owners are experiencing with the 2023! the truck has been in the dealership with attempts to repair 4 times, the third attempt took a month and within 2 hours of pickup it started again. 4th attempt, 20 mins after pickup auto collision system was going off as usual. Now I have errors on the dash to service the driver assist system and the side warning mirror lights no longer work. Someone is going to get killed. There are forum conversations where people are driving on the highway going 80 and the brakes engaged for no reason. Gm is well aware of all of the issues with my vehicle as I have been in communication as well as the dealership. The dealership told me another person bought a similar truck and had / has the same problem. Gm refuses to purchase this truck back even though they know this is unsafe and want me to continue to try to have it fixed. I have a ton of documents to support this but when I click to upload nothing happens to allow files to be attached. I'm more than happy to share them, they include repair orders, conversation with the dealer and gm, screen shots of errors etc. One document includes a text message from the dealer stating there is a bunch (I know it to be 2 pages) of history of lost communication code errors that would have occurred at the manufacturer yet they released it for sale anyway.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle experienced phantom braking with an audible alert and an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact was able to safely drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 1,100.
The pre collision safety feature is very glitchy. The warning comes on all the time, and no I’m not falling to close. But what scared me was I was driving home from work sunny conditions mild traffic. Typical city road 35mph. First the warning went off then right after it slammed on the brakes. The closest car in front of me was about 6 car length when it hit the breakers. I know the pearson behind me was not happy with me. Luckily there was no accident. I seen on facebook that this is not an insulated problem. I hope more people make a report because this is definitely a safety issue.
