3 Door Latch problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/12/2006

Cannot open the right door on my 2005 regular cab Chevrolet Colorado from the outside. The only way to open the right door is to first open the driver's door, than lay across the front seat, reach around the baby car seat and manually push open the door lock! in case of an emergency where the driver's door cannot be opened in an accident, frozen lock, etc. There would be no way for emergency crews to open the right door!.

4 Door Latch problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

I bought a Colorado in July of 2006 and really love the truck, but I have had a problem with the rear door not latching on the passenger side of the truck and also the seals around both sides of the doors on the truck. I have taken the truck to todd wenzel in hudsonville, mi at least 4 different times and once to kool Chevrolet in grand rapids and they have never been able to fix the problem. This is my first gm vehicle I have bought brand new and probably my last because of the customer service I have received from the dealer ship in hudsonville and with the vpac. I have been trying to get this problem fixed since I have bought the truck and no one wants to help me. They never return calls or emails. When I go there they tell me there is nothing they can do about it and basically I have to live with it. I have been even in contact with one of your national vpac and he could not get my problem resolved with the dealer ship fixing the problem. The only next step is to claim the lemon law here in michigan, which I really do not want to do. I like everything else about this truck, but if the problem is not resolved I am going to be forced into claiming this lemon law. If someone could please help me get this problem resolved ASAP that would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

5 Door Latch problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 01/23/2006

I recently purchased a new 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup. It did not come with power locks and has no key lock on the passenger door. The only way to unlock the vehicle was on the driver's side. This means I have to take my child out into the street to put them in the truck or leave them standing on the sidewalk while I run around to unlock their door. This makes no sense. Please ask GMC to recall these vehicles and install key locks to lock and unlock the passenger doors.

: the contact stated the only way to unlock the passenger side door of the vehicle is to crawl in on the driver's side. There is not a lock cylinder on the vehicle and it is not equipped with keyless entry. This was not explained when the vehicle was purchased. The manufacture determined there was not a kit available to put a lock on the door. Updated 03/09/06.

7 Door Latch problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/05/2005

Upon delivery of my vehicle, when I got home I noticed that there was no keyhole on the passenger side of my truck. I do not have keyless entry. I consider this a safety issue for a number of reasons (e. G. , a possible assailant near the driver side door), not to mention having to wait until the person who parked six inches off my driver door moved, because I couldn't get in the passenger side. What really irks me, though (along with the NY attorney general's office), is the fact that gm shows a picture of the passenger side of my truck, a 2005 chevy Colorado, on the first page of their brochure, right through the middle of 2006, with a keyhole in the passenger door handle. When I contacted them, they said they were not responsible for mid-year equipment changes that differ from the brochure. However, I found that there were no 2005 models produced with passenger side keyholes. The attorney general's office says that is misrepresentation. I have not yet pursued that avenue. Thanks for your attention.

The handle was set into the door. When the handle was lifted to exit the door, the door lock button was barely grazed which engaged the door locks. The owner had several spare keys made but was concerned if involved in a panic situation. The door lock buttons were too close to door handle. The owner was informed that there were other Chevrolet models with same design. The door locked up over 20 times, 7 times from the inside and the remainder as the consumer opened the door. The passenger door had no outside entry and or no key entry.

11 Door Latch problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 09/07/2004

Gm is making all their vehicles with manual locks inaccessible from the outside on the passenger side. Dealers are not telling consumers about this. If, as I did, you purchase a two door vehicle with manual locks, you must climb through the driver side to unlock the passenger side. This poses a great safety risk for women and children. The infant must be set down unattended (perhaps on hot pavement) while the mother climbs through to open the passenger door to place the infant in its child seat. The same can be said of a toddler who may wander into traffic during this activity. Also police routinely tell women that if the vehicle is next to a suspect van in a parking lot, that they should enter on the passenger side. This is no longer possible. This also applies is someone just parks too close, you will not have access to your vehicle until the other vehicle is moved. I feel that these are viable safety concerns and the dealers (when questioned) state that they didn't realize you can't get in on the passenger side with a key. Their only solution is to pay for electronic locks and the key fobs to operate them to the tune of nearly $800 for a 2-door vehicle.

14 Door Latch problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/28/2004

Vehicle did not have an outside key door lock on passenger's side. Consumer was unable to enter the vehicle from the outside passenger door. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The consumer went to put child in the vehicle and noticed the power locks did not work and could not open the passenger door from the outside. The consumer had to open the passenger side door from the inside by reaching over and unlocking the door. The consumer took the truck to the dealer and was quoted a price of $350. 00 to install power locks. The consumer feels she should not have to pay since she preferred manual locks in the first place.
