Sometimes (intermittently), when I push the start button to start the car, it just makes a "click" sound, the car does not start and the steering wheel will lock and all other functions of the car will be disabled. "check colum lock" will be displayed on the screen. I have to take a battery cable off to reset the software before I can once again start and drive the car.
When taking the car out of park, the shifter is stuck, you have to turn the car back off and then on to get it to release sometime it take 2-3 times repeating for it to disengage. Also, the battery drains if it started every week. This car only has 36,000 miles is not drive but on nice days.
Vehicle will not shift out of park.
2005 Corvette, auto transmission shifter stuck and can not get out of park - problem can happen anywhere w/o any warning: in traffic, parking, dangerous problem.
Twice today my 2005 Corvette temporarily locked its front left brake followed by giving me an "service active handleing" message. First time on the freeway after hitting a bump and 2nd going about 40mph. Both times driving straight. After turning car off and on the message was gone. This is a serious issue and the dealers seem to deny any common issue with this although iv seen thousands of posts on the matter from other owners.
Intermittently, the car will not shift out of park. It's an automatic transmission. There are hundreds (thousands?) of people reporting the same issue on Corvette forums. Vehicle is stationary. Many people report paying over $700 to replace the ignition lock solenoid switch. Appears to be a faulty design in the part to have this many people reporting the same issue.
Took the car in for a chatter noise at idle and when stationary. I'm told that the torque tube needs to be replaced, the car only has 27,000 miles and it seems that this is a very dangerous thing to have happen if it fails why you are driving it and it causes major damage to the rest of the drive train. It is a major part of the drive train and an obvious defect with the Corvettes as noted in the forums. A recall is in order and chevorlet needs to step up to the plate and repair these to make this car safer before some one is seriously injured. The repair is very expensive at around 3,000. A repair that should never need to be done on a low mileage car.
I have a 2005 Corvette and when getting on it my back wheel feels like its going to lock up I read something about this and has something to do with my propelling steering wheel and almost put me in a wall and I heard this is going on a lot.
Transmission control on shifter shorted causing vehicle to get stuck in park position. This happens when the vehicle is stationary. This has happened to quite a few 2005 Corvettes but Chevrolet has not acknowledged that it is a recall item.
This incident happened 4 or more times. However, this last time, I was traveling at 75 miles per hour on the i95. The traction control system light came on and then the car engine died on me as has happened on a number of other occasions. I was in the left lane on the highway. Lucky for me there were no vehicles behind or to the right of me so I was able to coast to a dead stop on the safe side of the road shoulder (right). The car normally would start again after this system failure. This time it did not and I had to have it towed to the nearest garage which was a Ford dealership. This could have been very serious had it not been for light traffic. I have had the vehicle service a number of times at gm dealerships for the engine light being on. The issue is still unresolved. I no longer have confidence in the vehicle as to its drivability and safety.
Automatic gear shift broke, 2005 Corvette with 26,000 miles on it I've told it's a $700 dollar repair at my gm dealership. I've read its an unannounced defective part. Please advise.
I purchased my 2005 Corvette c6 convertible used last year. The service active handling light and message comes up often when I drive the car. The code goes away if I turn the car on and off. If I hit a bump in the road the service active handling comes on again. I have not noticed any handling issues. I read the Corvette forum and a thread sent me to this site. Is there a recall that gm should have fixed on my Corvette? if yes, will the recall hold up considering the age of the vehicle? please advise how I should proceed. Car experiences intermittent gear selector stuck in park.
My 2005 c6 was stuck in park, faulty solenoid it will not engage dog ear to allow you shift out of park, leaves you stranded, dealer wants $800 to replace entire shifter since the solenoid is riveted to. There are many c6 owners dealing with same issue. Thank you, andrew klein.
Vehicle will not shift from park to drive. Vehicle shift lever will not allow movement from park. Vehicle is unable to move. Repeating the following procedure, repeatedly, will eventually allow shift lever to move from the park position to drive: exit / re-enter vehicle, wait 10 seconds, place foot on brake pedal, press ignition switch, move shift lever, repeatedly until shift lever moves or place vehicle in "accessory" mode and attempt to move shift lever. All steps may be need repeated attempts. No force, beyond typical use or pressure to move shift lever, is applied. Problem is present in any type of weather, time of day. Surface is flat and level. Vehicle not parked on incline surface. Vehicle is not abused, raced, or driven in high-performance manner. Vehicle is not driven on a daily basis.
2005 Chevrolet Corvette - automatic transmission frequently sticks in the park position. Turning the ignition off and back on will eventually clear the situation but may have to be done several times to get the shifter to come out of park. These malfunctions are well documented in on-line forums relating to Corvettes. In many cases, a costly repair is only a temporary fix as the new components (shifter assembly) eventually fail as well. Come on gm step up and take care of these issues as they have the potential of putting the safety of operators at risk.
Vehicle will not shift out of park, intermittently, but consistently. Numerous fixes have been attempted, several dealerships notified, but they seem to think it is normal. Using "alternative methods" to shift from park to drive do not seem appropriate or safe.
Unable to get the automatic tranny shifter out of park sometimes.
Turn signal indicator began flashing rapidly to indicate the turn signal was not working properly. The front turn signal was not working. The turn signal bulb melted the internal socket so the internal harness system needs to be replaced. Chevrolet needs to issue a recall to change the specifications used for the turn signal light bulb so they do not melt and ruin the system.
Heads up display keeps falling from its set position. I have almost been in many rear end collision trying to reset my heads up display. Now I don't even use the heads up display since it is such a piece of junk. I belong to Corvette forum and have herd from dozens of Corvette owners who are having the exact same problem. These heads up displays should be recalled due to poor design, poor materials during manufacturing and cheap manufacturing. The problem is the mirror assembly is being hinged from two plastic pins on each end of the assembly. Based of the size and wait of the mirror these pins should be made from some kind of metal material. This issue is being exacerbated by the stiff ride of the Corvette as you drive the mirror is being bounced around and is wearing down the pins holding the mirror.
My 2005 Corvette has an automatic transmission. At times after I start the car, the shifter gets stuck in park. It has happened when the engine is cold in the morning and also in evening after driving for a while. It feels like it is locked into park.
Ac inop speed only one setting. Dealer pulled dash and replace bad mode valve actuator and controller. 10 months later 08/11 same issue ac only one speed and causing moisture to appear on front windshield. Dealer remove dash and replaced 2 actuators and valve. 7 months later 03/12 same issue again dealer pulled dash and replaced mode valve and actuators again. 4 months later 07/12 same issue only one speed and no auto speed . Pulled dash again and replaced the entire hvac case saying it was warped. 3 months later 10/12 same issue pulled dash and mode valve and actuators and valves. . 06/13 same issue going into dealer service again. Al this and have only driven car for 10,000 miles. So far everything has been covered by warranties and always get a loaner but I want to drive my Corvette.
My car started having intermittent low beam outages as I was driving. When I say intermittent, I mean not every time I was driving would the low beams go off. But when they did go off, they stayed off until the next day. Luckily my side lights and high beams continued to work. However, within the last three months, they go out probably 99% of the time. I recently googled this problem and saw where I'm not the only one having this problem with the 2005 Corvette.
