Strong fuel smell coming from the vehicle after fueling filling.
Vehicle is leaving a strong gas order inside and around the vehicle. This issue is currently awaiting to be inspected but for the meantime, it’s parked inside a garage where it completely fills the area with said odor. This is particularly unsafe due to our water heater also being located in this section of the house. Gas smell first appeared about a month ago and had consistently releasing these vapors. I’ve seen that gm has released a service bulletin for a short period of time but hasn’t officially recalled the fuel issue (faulty fuel system).
Strong smell of fuel after driven with more than 1/2 tank of fuel.
Fuel leaks from drivers side fuel tank. I see fuel tracks down side of tank, so conclude fuel is leaking from top of tank or from fuel pump. Fuel components are plastic, and now 17 years old, so they are probably cracked from age. I have strong smell of fuel in my garage, and puddle of fuel under drivers side tank. This is a safety hazard and must be fixed. I am aware of a number of other c6 Corvette owners with identical problems. Gm must fix!.
Car is now leaking fuel from driver's side gas tank. This is a known problem with gm and I do not understand how this is not a safety recall as the exhaust is inches away from the tank. The problem has been documented online by many owners. Is nhsta waiting for someone to die in a fire before forcing gm to recall these cars. This is ridiculous. My car has only 41k miles. This should not be allowed by such a large american corporation.
I recently purchased the car. I am noticing a strong smell of fuel from the rear driver's side. It is random. No leak on my garage floor. Reading forums and it has been an issue with other Corvettes. Concerned as it could be a safety issue.
Strong gas fumes from the driver's side rear quarter panel. So strong that I need to keep my garage door partially open.
I'm noticing a gas smell inside my car and near the rear wheel well. I notice this smell when the car is stationary.
Gas smell in car and garage after filling car up. Didn't notice smell until car filled with gas. Also noticed small gas spot near passenger side back tire.

Smell fuel after filllup.
Every time I put fuel in the car there is a strong gas smell by the car that lingers for a long time.
3 days ago I filled up my c6 at the gas station and ever since then it has been I very strong smell of gas and it has yet to go away even when the car has not been driven it still smells like gas.
Smell of gas fumes in gararage after sitting overnight. No visible gas leaks.
There is an overpowering smell of gasoline coming from the left rear of the car. Gasoline smell from the trunk and cabin.
Strong fuel smell.
Smell of gas coming from the car, noticed "wet" surfaces under the car at the rear. Can smell gas when getting in the car, have noticed this for a few months but I don't drive the vehicle much.
With fuel at 3/4 or full, after going over pot holes or speed bumps etc. I get a raw gas smell that engufs the whole inside of the car,and lasts 5 to ten mins. This has been going on for about the last 6 months. Just came off 6500 mile road trip. Happened about eevery other day.
2006 Corvette convertible. Has a strong gas smell after filling up. I understand this is a common problem, but Chevrolet will not acknowledge it. The gas can drip down on the hot exhaust system, and start a fire, burning down our house, or out on the road with us in it! please help us get this deadly problem resolved, with little expense heaped upon us. Fuel leak bad smell when left I garage 2006 corvett.
Strong gas smell when parked in garage especially after running. Lasts for days.
After driving my car for a sufficient length of time to get the engine hot (normal driving) and then park it in the garage, a very strong smell of fuel vapor is emitted from the rear area of the car which fills the garage and permeates the house. The odor also invades the car's interior cabin. This dangerous condition was reported to the watson Chevrolet dealership in tucson, August, 2015, mileage 67289. After lengthy inspection and communication with gm, certain components were replaced - an expensive repair. The car operated satisfactorily and I observed no more fuel vapors until March 4, 2016, mileage 71448. Following a trip of 40 miles, normal city driving, I parked the car in the garage and the same very strong fuel vapors filled the garage. Once again, the house was permeated with the odor, which we found necessary to purge, and to remove the car from the garage until the vapor dissipated. I consider this to be a dangerous safety hazard. I've also noted from various Corvette forums that many other c6 Corvettes have experienced this condition and it maybe a common problem. I believe cars like mine should be recalled for an appropriate fix before an explosion or other unfortunate event occurs. It won't be an accident!.
Gas vapors rise from the rear wheels following a fill up. Does not happen if you only fill it half way. Fumes are really bad when vehicle is in the garage. Nothing dripped on the ground.
On August 13, 2015, my 2006 Corvette would not shift out of reverse. The car was stuck in that reverse gear and the shift lever was not enabling the selection of another gear. The shifter mechanism on this automatic equipped vehicle was operational, but the linkage to the transmission was no longer engaged. The car was being pulled into the garage when this happened, so fortunately I was not in a busy intersection, in a parking lot, or in some other location where I, or someone else, might have been in harm's way due to a vehicle that I could no longer control. Since the car could not be put in neutral or park, I had to turn off the vehicle with it in reverse and use the parking brake to keep the car from moving. Since the shifter mechanism could still move, the switch activating the "ok to start" would have allowed the car to start when put in the park or neutral positions - while the transmission was still stuck in reverse; a real safety issue. The cause of the problem was a 50 cent bushing that attaches to the shift lever. This bushing allows the ball end connector of the shifter to engage a shifter cable that actuates the linkage to the transmission. So when that bushing breaks, you can no longer shift the car. This has happened to many, many people owning the generations of c5 (1997-2004) and c6 (2005-2013) Corvettes. . Read more...
