1 Suspension problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/18/2025

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle at the local carson city,nv Chevrolet dealer on 5/18/2025 my passenger started to hear a muffled “thumping noise” from the right front foot well? I am a disabled veteran usaf pilot with hearing loss and did not immediately hear it. The car had 29,129 miles on it when purchased and was a “certified vehicle” with some remaining original warranty as well as an extended warranty given its great condition(I was told!) after a few hundred miles of driving the sound became much louder and very noticeable when even on rough roads I discovered when removing the “frunk” trim to investigate a weak battery up front that an aluminum upper suspension right front shock mount was only being retained by a single bolt of the four designed to secure it! two had sheared the aluminum mount off and one bolt had broken off and was missing! the car has been in possession of the dealer since I had it towed in 6/27/2025 I have had no response from the dealer as to the cause. Other than to indicate that it had been a rental car company acquisition no other external body/suspension/tire/fender damage was visible the dealer has confirmed the failure and has to my knowledge not repaired it although they did indicate that gm engineers were advised?.

3 Suspension problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/12/2023

I purchased my 2005 Corvette c6 from a used car dealership on 4/30/2023. The car was fine for the first week. The second week I began getting a lot of error codes specifically: service active handling system service traction control service abs shocks inoperative service fuel system. At times it would go into limp mode. I would find a safe place to pull off. I would shut the car off and it would not restart. I would check the relays under the hood and the passenger floorboard. Eventually it would restart and drive again until the next time. I have replaced the following components: battery cables with factory replacement new battery, twice new high output alternator and a new belt. These items solved the many codes. Now I get service traction system, and the traction control shuts off. When this happened last, I got a p0101 maf sensor error. Replaced the maf sensor 8/13. Has not happened as of yesterday. I have checked all of the grounds, added a new ground system called the big three. I should not have to put all this work into a well documented issue not only in the c6 but other models.

4 Suspension problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 01/11/2023

The body control module has failed and there are no replacement parts available except used parts. The bcm is hard coded with the VIN. If you use a bcm from another car, certain safety systems are deactivated such as the air bags. The bcm is central to the electronic architecture so all other systems are at risk. The unit can be responsible for the car not starting, the headlights not working, the power windows and door locks failing, or in my case the active suspension not functioning. Since bcm's are widely used, this is a looming major safety issue for the nation because gm quit making new ones, no one else makes these parts, no one can repair the units. I know a number of c6 Corvette owners are using used parts which deactivates the air bags and the security system.

5 Suspension problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 12/28/2021

The computer isn't allowing me to check off the other issues. The brakes were the other thing that couldn't be checked off. The vehicle went off the road and the brakes locked and now the vehicle is totaled. Had I been notified about these recalls this would not have happened.

6 Suspension problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 12/31/2020

The abs tcs system on my 2000 Corvette has malfunctioned. I've been told that this can't be repaired. After researching this seems to be a chronic problem on this vehicle. My Corvette only has 49000 miles on it and this is a serious safety issue involving control of the vehicle during an emergency braking condition, especially on wet roads.

7 Suspension problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 10/09/2020

On the evening of October 9, 2020, the air bag on my 2017 Corvette z06 unexpectly deployed without any warning in my face blocking my view while driving downhill around 45 miles per hour and without me striking any object on the two-lane highway. I believe the right front wheel was defective and broke puncturing the right front tire that caused the right front suspension and frame rails to strike the road surface and break the right front suspension in two that caused me to lose control of the steering and strike the hillside along the two-lane road causing over $38,854. 00 worth of damage to my Corvette that grew to $44,000. 00. My Corvette had never been previously involved in any accidents whatsoever. There is a class action law suit proceeding through the courts now against general motors related to Corvette wheels cracking and causing damage to Corvette owners tires and cars in varying degrees. Esis who represents general motors, investigated my defects claim and after general motors received and reviewed my documentation and photos about the unexpected air bag deployment, suspected wheel and suspension defects they stated that no defects exist. I have attached photos and have the right front cracked wheel, punctured tire and broken suspension components in storage for examination to assist in determining the cause of the suspected defects as stated. The unexpected air bag deployment, cracked wheel and suspension failure caused me to strike the hillside and could also have caused me to collide and strike oncoming motorists causing property damage, personal injury and possible death to me and other motorists. .

10 Suspension problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 10/22/2019

My 2016 Corvette with 13000 + miles has been in the shop with the service rear axle light on despite several attempts to fix it. After several trips to the service department they have been unsuccessful. This past week, I was notified by (service supervisor) that they have exhausted all efforts in the attempt to fix my car. I now have to wait for an engineer to be dispatched physically to look into this issue . According to service supervisor , this can take several weeks. I have looked at the internet and have found several Corvette owners having/ experiencing the same problem. Is gm looking into this ? does gm know what the problem is so they can share it here locally ? why cant my local dealership fix my problem despite working with gm engineers? what are my options? this light seems to come on on first starts or after being off for hours.

18 Suspension problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

I was driving north on interstate 95 in miami, florida, I changed lanes and could no longer control steering, car seem to go the way it wanted to. It steered to left to the right back to the left across 3 lanes of traffic and I ended up going southbound in the northbound lanes. With the help of god I was able to put the car in park, start it up again, back up, turn it around and head the right way, which was northbound, considering the traffic on I-95 I should have been hit by numerous cars during that time, but with god's help it didn't happen. I noticed on dashboard that it stated to service active handling. I decided to do some research and there have been numerous complaints related to this same incident and some recalls also. My life could have taken during this incident. I had just purchased 2 new front tires and 2 rear shocks for my car before this happened only 6 days before, car has always been kept in good running condition.

19 Suspension problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/15/2014

At low speeds when you have the wheels turned in either direction all the way the tires seem to hop happens really bad in reverse.

20 Suspension problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 04/26/2014

There are already a few reports on the skipping and hopping at low speeds when the wheels are locked all the way left or right while turning. I experienced this on delievery and have owned the car for 9 months. Since the cold weather has arrived the issue has gotten even more severe, like the front end is going to fall off. Chevrolet will not admit to this problem/issue but it is a generally know issue related to the "ackerman" effect. Motortrend identified it and resorted to saying the 2014 Corvette is no parking lot car. Chevrolet still has no comment. Had I known about this I personally would not have bought the vehicle. In my opinion Chevrolet has a fiduciary responsibility to make the buyer aware. Also, if you see some of the blogs on Corvettes it is also acknowledged there. I have been to the dealer about it and they are clueless. They gave me an explanation that didn't hold water to me and they even drove the car and duplicated the movement. I have now asked for a face to face with the factory rep.

21 Suspension problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 08/30/2013

Car purchased in michigan 01/21/2013. While on vacation from michigan to montana to California back to michigan via route 66 I encountered a rear interior excessive overheating problem. Exterior temperature upper 80's to upper 90's the temperature of the carpet and arm rest storage area would exceed 120 deg. Lift up a suitcase or put arm on console storage area would burn your arm or hand. If you lifted the suitcase and touched the bottom or arm on armrest would burn you hand or arm. Heat inside storage area exceeded est. Of 130 deg and burned spots in cell phone screen and computer in suitcase melted hard drive and ruined computer. The ac on interior heat was approx 75 degs, I have a privacy curtain covering the rear storage area thus making it much cooler than one without it. Anything touching carpet in rear, inside arm rest or putting your arm on the rest would burn it. You could not touch under suitcase or have skin touching the rest would be very uncomfortable. Excessive heat coming from under vehicle into the tunnel where transmission and exhaust are located damaged those items. There is not sufficient insulation under carpet or under vehicle tunnel causes excessive overheating. There needs to have more insulation under carpet or under vehicle in the tunnel. All other surfaces in car were not effected. Under floor mats was barely warm to the touch.

Both rear axles have broke. One was found by a dealership's repair shop when they were looking at something else. 30 Suspension problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/15/2009

The problem started as a highly intermittent warning that the abs, traction control, and active handling suspension system needed to be serviced. It would usually go off by shutting the car off and restarting it. Couldn't locate the problem. This year when I took the car out it reset once and then stayed on. Diagnosed it, generated dtc error code c1214, indicating a bad power relay inside the abs unit. The car now has just over 40,000 miles. To answer an obvious question, yes the problem did occur a few times while driving but it occurred primarily when starting the car. Searching the internet it seems that this is a common problem across a large range of gm vehicles using this specific abs system made by delphi. It requires replacement f the abs unit to repair.
