1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2024

I bought my car used. I have replaced the brake pedal position sensor 3 times on my own and 1 time by anderson general tire. Sometimes when I go to brake, there is no brake and I have to push real hard with my foot and finally the car will brake. It feels as if my brakes go out and sometimes I have to pump the brake pedal. It happens also when I start my car after it's been sitting and I brake to shift into drive. My car says it doesn't have any recalls but I have been having this problem. My car has been serviced numerous times by Chevrolet immediately after buying it. I only had to stop taking it there because my warranty ran out and then they wouldn't cover the costs anymore. Codes that come up are p057d and u0140-brake pedal position sensor circuit high and brake pedal position sensor circuit high voltage and anti-lock brake system (although this does not show on the dash).

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2022

I drive daily taking 2 freeways. I stopped at the traffic light and the car felt like shaking. Stabilitrack warning and traction control warning light and messages appeared on the screen and also the check engine light turned on, and abs too. Break pedal was really hard to push and breaks were not working (I was not reducing speed at all) and it felt like the engine loose power and the car felt rough while driving. I was approaching to another traffic light and it was a red light so I prepared to decrease my speed and stop to wait for the green light. When I placed my foot and pressed the break pedal, it was hard. I was pushing it hard but the pedal did not respond, it was very hard and not moving at all and I was almost on the intersection, which always has heavy traffic with cars, 18 wheeler trucks and delivery trucks and more because its an industrial zone and amazon and ups are on this avenue along with other major companies. I could be involved and be responsible for a really bad crash if the light wouln't turn green on time. Fortunately it changed to the green light and I was in the very front. After this, I tried to go to the side if the road but there was a sidewalk and it was a no parking zone with no space/edge to park in case of emergency. I drove slowly with my emergency lights on and moved to the right lane until I found a space to stop. The car was shaking really bad, same lights on the dash were on and messages on the control panel did not change or disapear. The car was still moving when the engine suddenly stopped working while I was driving it. Music was playing and all lights worked so I knew it wasn't the battery. This situation was so scary that I was afraid to drive my car. I did not want to cause an accident resulting in injury to myself, others or any fatality. I've always taken my car to service and to be fixed in Chevrolet. My car shook a little since 2020 and chevy guys don't know the reason. Total is about $2800 to get it fixed.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2022

Last month the car started ti show me this errors stabili trak control and traction service control, I keep getting them driving on the highway, every road I drive, the steering wheal just becomes stiff and its hard to maneuver , the air condition turns off itself and the car has a big vibration , like there is an earthquake outside, I have been calling general motors to tell them about the problem but they are telling me there is nothing they can do. There are times when I get in the car trying to get to work and the car won't start, the car would show me the errors and would not clear for hours, it's a nightmare.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2016

The vehicle has no open recalls, and the recall addressing the brake pressure, (micro switch problem) has been completed. On occasions including this morning, when the vehicle sits overnight, there seems to be a loss of brake pressure, that is you can press the brake pedal all the way down with significant pressure, and the vehicle barely stops. I first noticed it backing out of the driveway, and coming to the first stop sign at the end of our side street. Once the vehicle has been running for a short period of time, and after at least one attempted stop, the pressure goes to normal. Now that I am aware of the potential of this happening, I noticed even with the car is stationary before backing out, the brake pressure is low. Researching the problem it seems like I am not the only one having this experience.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2016

I bought the 2011 Chevrolet cruz in 2014, I used the car primarily for work so throughout the first few years I didn't notice anything strange as it remained parked most the time. When I did start driving it as a primary vehicle the first issue I had was the clutch and gear system seemed to be touchy when the car was in park, resorting to me using the emergency brake every time I would park it. At the time it didn't seem to be a big issue as it became a habit. In 2016 shortly after this my oil consumption and turbo failed, and the vehicles exhaust started blowing blue smoke and the car lost all power. As this was a new car I took it to a mechanic and had vehicles turbo replaced. Just over a year later in 2018 the vehicle is exhibiting the exact same effects such as removing and replacing the eco,1. 4l engine, turbocharger, evacuate and replace air conditioning system, and transfer of the fuel and electrical assemblies and engine mounts. I'm almost certain this car is defective and needs to be recalled.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the electronic vacuum pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA recall campaign number 13v36000(service brakes). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 61,400. Jft.

Traveling behind passenger car; car in front applied brakes. I applied my brakes but car did not stop. Struck back of vehicle.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2014

I had noticed that my brakes were soft when stopping prior to this incident but had no success in determining the cause. Two times now, I was backing out of a parking spot and the car would not stop for at least 3-5 seconds after I applied complete pressure to the brakes. Fortunately, I had plenty of room behind me and there was no oncoming traffic either time. The brakes are still soft on stopping while in drive.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2014

2011 chevy Cruze after recall # 12213 for brake vacuum micro switch has been completed. The vehicle is displaying the exact same symptoms as before the recall work was done. Under cold start up conditions (car sitting overt night) the brake petal is difficult to depress so brakes do not stop car easily. This is intermittent. I have discovered if you places the car in neutral while this is happening the brakes start working correctly. Sounds like a design issue to me. The dealer wants to replace the part that the recalled micro switch goes into. This will include another switch. This part (#13457666) appears to be the valve that the micro switch opens and closes as needed to provide the needed vacuum. Again, this seems related to the original issue.

23 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2014

On April 30 2014, around 11:00 am the car was taken for service to a Chevrolet dealer for a wheel alignment, steering and suspention system inspection and air pressure condition check, the chevy Cruze was at the service dealer for aprox four hours, we then came home, around 5:30 we went to a shopping center to buy something and on the way back home, aprox six blocks from our home we stop on a stop sign on a curb/angle street divider by a small curb with trees, we then try to proceed and bare right but the car made some kind of a noise and went left going over small curb and hitting a tree, we where going going aprox 15 to 20 mph at the time of impact the police came and made a report, no summons where issue because the police officer look at the scene and comment that it looks like the car loss power/ control of the steering ,brakes and could not be control. The car was a total loss since it was damages in front/engine/air bags/etc. We know for facts that this 2011 Chevrolet Cruze have many recalls including steering shaft separations/brakes/steering problems. Etc.

Failure Date: 04/11/2014

1. 4 liter 2011 Cruze heater blowing cool air. Gm inspection done on 10/17/13 and they said everything was good. They told me not to worry about the intermittent check engine light that keeps coming on. This happened within two weeks. We added a almost a quart of coolant following the directions in the owners manual. Now a month later it is a quart low again blowing cool air from the heater and a strong sweet smell permeates the car. The car also fails to properly brake at times and gain speed at times. It has stalled while idling at stoplights. There is a oily residue on the plastic shield located near the oil pan.

29 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2013

About 4 pm on 8/31/13:pulling into parking space in front of sandwich shop and hair salon. Normal brake pressure applied but vehicle did not stop, then both feet pressed on brake, but cars momentum caused it to jump the cement parking block. To avoid crashing through salons glass front, steering wheel was turned sharply to the right and car crashed into, and came to a stop at buildings outside supporting structure. In so doing, a car parked in the space to the right, sustained damage to drivers side- front bumper. Chevy Cruze sustained considerable damage to right side door panels and right-front bumper.

31 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2013

I have two 2011 Chevrolet Cruzes that I purchased new in 2011. Both cars began to have a soft brake pedal at about 7000 miles which makes stopping difficult. Most notable at low speeds especially in reverse and trying to stop the vehicle. This occurred with one Cruze about a year ago and took three trips to the dealer to repair. It just started occurring in the second Cruze (about 7300 miles on this vehicle) this week. The fact you can not stop the car appropriately significantly increases the risk for an accident or injury. The fact this has now happened in both my Cruzes seems to indicate a significant mechanical issue and not just a one time malfunction.

32 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2013

2011 Chevrolet Cruze. Consumer writes in regards to brakes malfunction. On June 19, 2013, the consumer was involved in an accident. 34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2013

I was leaving my driveway when I tried to stop at the end. The brake pedal fell to the floor and the car kept rolling. I am so thankful that I was not on the interstate or having to make a sudden stop. I had it towed by aaa to the dealership. I was told by the dealership that my brake booster was bad and that there is a bulletin out about hard braking. They ordered the part as they do not keep it in stock. They are supplying me with a rental while I wait for the car to be fixed. I will keep you updated as to if them replacing the brake booster fixes the issue.

35 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2013

I had come from a red light that turned green, and as I approached the next red light, it had turned green before I got there. I was coasting in slowly as the vehicles that were already waiting at that light were starting to move forward. Though the light was green, the vehicle in front of me had stopped right as he got to the intersection - he was proactive in stopping for an ambulance that was leaving the station at the corner (it was not on the street yet and no sirens. ) I went to slow down before realizing he was actually stopped (at that moment, was unaware of an ambulance. ) when I realized he was actually stopped, I still had plenty of time to stop the distance I was from his car ahead of me, but my car would not stop! the car slowed down significantly, however, it would not stop. It just kept rolling forward at a very slow pace. I remember pressing the brake harder, and the abs kicked in, and I heard the "crunch" sound 3 times, even though the ground was dry, at the time I did not know why, I thought something was wrong with the abs, but the car never stopped. All I could do was watch in very slow motion as my car continued to pull forward and I eventually drifted into the rear of the car in front of me. It was a very slow-moving incident but I felt totally helpless as the car continued to roll. There was no damage to his vehicle, only to mine. I was upset bc I kept replaying the incident in my mind: why didn't my car stop? why did it feel like it was being pulled forward? I had my car repaired and found nothing wrong with the brakes or tires or fluid. A few months later, I rec'd the 12213 electric vacuum pump and found the description matched my experience. I want Chevrolet to refund me and my insurance company and clear this accident as my fault. I am also making a complaint to Chevrolet.
