general problems of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze - part 2

I was driving down interstate with no overheads no car in front or back of me and my sunroof exploded. Shattered glass filled my car and it was so scary. I have no idea why this happened, however gm needs to find out why their sunroofs will explode and shatter. I want it replaced, what do I do?.

Burning oil smell started after an oil change. I have replaced the intake tubing that leads in the turbo because when I replaced the throttle position sensor in the turbo area, there was oil in the turbo intake. It has lost some power since I started experiencing the burning smell. It now smells like plastic burning since replacing the intake tubing/gasket.

Since November 2016 at 56,000 miles the car has been constantly overheating. The engine coolant flange, water pump, and thermostat have been replaced 2xs. When this happens the car flashes sporadic messages such as a/c off high engine heat, service stabilitrak, change oil, etc. The car also has started leaking oil. Finally on February 10th, 2018 the car had these same issues again and this time the engine went entirely. The car had total engine failure at 83,500 miles and now requires a new engine. This is the worst car I have ever owned and I would never recommend it to anyone. Upon going online everyone has these same exact issues so I have no idea why massive recalls have not been made.

My husband has realized that my car is leaking oil and he can not find where it is coming from due to the cold weather. He was changing the oil when he found this.

The blend door actuator stopped working on my car and I've been told it's a common problem if it's common why aren't you guys fixing it.

Engine coolant leaked from the water pump while driving. The pump leaked, leading to a drip of coolant onto the engine and onto the ground. Over time, the loss of coolant reduced cooling performance and eventually lead to engine overheating. The �service engine� indicator light came on, an �engine hot, ac off� message appeared, a chime then the engine power reduced. This coverage should have been covered by gm service bulletin 14371a but we are being denied reimbursement because the VIN number is not listed as defective. I am seeking reimbursement approval since this repair was made by a third party. After speaking with a gm representative, they suggested escalating this issue with NHTSA. The gm case number is 8-3599435878.

This car has had issues since we purchased it brand new in 2012. Does not accelerate when merging on freeway or trying to pick up speed. It puts the driver at a very high risk of an accident. This car was purchased for my daughter to attend college and she feels very unsafe. We have had to have it towed and taken into shop several time for check engine light and loud shaking noise. This car has been nothing but a nightmare and seem to think based on reviews that these cars fall into the lemon category. We will be taking it to a very reliable mechanic this week and will wait to see what they find.

My cars over heating signal comes on and tells me to shut off the car all the time while driving, also the power steering locks up while turning.

Wipers started stopping when on. If you turn them off and then on they work for a very short time then stop again. When the wipers are in the off position they stop right in front of the drivers view. Took to dealer, dealer stated the body control module was going out and would affect more and more of the car and could pose a safety hazard.

In motion, after roughly 50-100 feet, there is a single "twang" sound underneath the frame. I don't know what it is, but I called gm, but they never heard of such an incident. . . I'm not complaining, I'm just notifying nhsta. . . On the "calendar" section of the webpage, it asks, "when did this happen?" I put in today, but it happens every time that I drive the car (it's a good car; I just want to know if there is something loose, or something else. . . ).

Driving a n 80west at 65mph, light comes on and says transmission hot/idle engine I pulled and let car cool for 30 minutes. Light goes off and I proceeded to drive again. After driving about 15 minutes, car started accelerate at a fast pace. I pulled over to shoulder again and and was towed to gray Chevrolet in stroudsburg, PA. They tried to diagnose problem but says it never happened when they drove the car. I now have to now drive my car home nit knowing what happened to the car and if its going to do it again. They gave me a lot of reasons what it could be but couldnt prove it. So it was released back to me.

Clutch smell very strong door dust all over engine car has 9000 miles on it also getting a engine code says cruise control sensor this car don't have cruise control dealer says clutch not under warranty I'm very dissapointed with the power in the engine car has no power for going up any slope or hills way under powered.

2012 Chevrolet Cruze. Consumer writes in regards to water pump leakage. The consumer stated the water pump was repaired and began to leak again the same day.

Tires light all the time, overheating all the time spend 100 of dollar on anti-freeze coolant ran in overflow tank spent over $769. 00 0n people giving false report on what wrong with vehicle. I tried to file for bankrupty but wasn't successful due low income. Stop on city street.

I was driving by myself down a busy road, luckily not too busy with traffic and the service engine soon light came on with comment stability traction. I immediately pulled over, turned the car off and called our chevy dealer. I was instructed to leave the car off a few minutes then turn it back on which I did. All the lights went away. I scheduled an appointment for several days later to have the car checked. The car was fine the rest of the day. The next day around 3 pm I was leaving work the stability traction light came on and then the reduced engine speed light came on. My car dropped to 10 miles an hour I was about rear ended. I turned on hazards. I right at an intersection, I started blowing my horn cause the light turned yellow. I turned into a parking lot. I immediately turned the car off and called the dealer again. The guy on the phone stated turn the car off and on for a few minutes and it did reset. He said I see you have an upcoming appointment. I said yes but I am dropping the car off tonight and he stated okay. Next day they phone me and the"throttle body" was bad. Many, many complaints online about this. He stated he also had to replace the outlet housing, something to do with oil. This was just re-placed 15 months ago but was now out of warranty. A day later I was out $1,053. 99. Luckily I had the money! my point is not only myself but others, many others all over the internet have issues with this throttle body. Why not recall it? do you realize what danger I was in??? thank you.

In 2014 my car had an issue where it started over heating. The car was previously part of a recall for the water pump breaking. This caused my car heating and cooling system not to work properly. This can be dangerous if driving and it happened while I was driving. I just had the same issue on October 20 of 2016.

I was taking my wife to work which is only 10 mnutes away, on my way home I had a display on my digital display saying engine over heat/ac off so I panicked and seen the engine light was on and it was super hot and panicked more! I had my 15 month old in the car so I didnt stop but I get home and check the coolant and its completely empty but I just filled it a week or 2 before this incident. Later on after the car is cooled down I fill up the coolant, I then pick my wife up from work and check the coolant after but it was almost completely empty when I had just filled it up. Called the dealership and they want to charge me $125 an hour just to find the problem and I know im not the only person with this problem they sent out a letter about this before but is techniclly not a recall and that needs to change! I take care of our vehicle and to have a problem with it that everyone else is having and not do a recall is just terrible! hope something gets done about this if not ill be sure to be anti gm when talking to friends and family and will never buy gm products again!.

Have a odor coming through hvac system strong odor of hot grease or burning oil on cold days with hear on gets very strong and over a period of time smell gets to you and get sickening feeling. Had dealership check it out and was told gm is aware of problem but is not under warranty or recall at this time, I feel this is a defect problem and it should be taken care by gm. Gm code #pi0935e (April 9 2015).

Ac off due to high temp, thermostat replaced 2014. Ac off due to high temp again, thermostat replaced may 20, 2015. . Dec 27th, 2015 ac off due to high temp again- car overheated in 10 degre weather. Thermostat being replaced for the third time!!.

My wife pulled into my daughter's driveway took her foot off the gas pedal and was going to put her foot on the brake when the car accelerated and ran into my daughter's SUV, my wife put the car in reverse and went to step on the gas pedal but she could not feel it, she look down and found the gas pedal and about 4 inches of the stem on the floor completely broken off.

Hello, I have issues with my Chevrolet Cruze eco about burning smell, coolant burning issue smel. After going through too much back and forth with the dealership and gm and they are busy playing blame game . I feel like I am going through too much and there is absolutely no body who is willing to help. The dealership here said that they performed everything possible things and there is no fix. I have all the paperwork. I have this issue for a while and its really sad that I have to drive the car with the burning smell and have my daughter ( 3 years old ) smell. Please help.

While driving on highway with my sunroof raised I heard an explosion and felt pieces of glass falling. When I pulled over I noticed my sunroof glass exploded from the inside out. Nothing hit my car. I did not hear a thud or see anything roll off my car. There is no dent. Just a hole where the glass exploded.

Strong sickening coolant smell inside car while heater system is on. May 7,2015 dealer pressure checked found no leaks. Can't find problem. No leaks visible. Smell still exists while heater is on.

I turned my car on one morning after I just had it in the shop to get the recalls fixed on it. Im seeing service stabilitrak and service traction and abs lights. I can no longer turn on or off my traction controle. My brakes are now grabbing really bad and im getting a really weird feel when I have my foot in the gas and turn my wheel. My car is not the same after the recalls were done.

Condensation/fog and/or frost on interior windows, will not clear. Recirculation air control not functioning properly. Actuator does not properly control the flaps in the hvac system, allowing moist air to recirculate even when the fresh air mode is selected. This causes excessive moisture inside the car, fogging the inside of the windows and reducing visibility. In winter climates this results in frost on the inside of the glass. In either case, clearing the windows is not possible and makes driving the vehicle unsafe and/or not possible.

Bad antifreeze smell entering car with heat on and engine at full operating temperature, but no antifreeze loss.

The electrical pad that you push to open the trunk is faulty and does not work anymore. Only way to get into trunk is to push key fob. If a child or adult got trapped inside it could be harmful due to fact that the push pad for the trunk open is faulty.

I have a very strong coolant smell inside the car when heat is on and a strong coolant smell outside of the car. I brought it in to my dealership and they determined the water pump was leaking and they replaced it. I've had my car back for a week now and again I have the strong coolant smell inside and outside of my car. The smell is actually making me nauseous. I have also experienced issues with my drivers side window not going down. I've had the dealership look at it and they cannot find anything wrong with it. My final issue I've been experiencing is my vehicle does not shift right. I have an automatic transmission and sometimes it shifts very hard out of first and into to second gear, the car feels like it's jerking. Other times my car hesitates while shifting gears. I have not brought it in for that issue yet but I will be bringing it in this week.

Coolant keeps leaking out of car.

Gm has a defective drivers side windshield wiper system that failed/stopped working while I was driving on the highway in the pouring rain. This situation can and will kill somebody. Thankfully I was able to pull over and had tools to remove the drivers side windshield wiper and plastic wiper motor cover to re-attach the windshield wiper linkage. Otherwise I would have had to call roadside asst. Below the plastic windshield wiper cover, there is the windshield wiper motor and linkage. There is a 6 inch arm that comes off the wiper motor with an upside down bowl. The half bowl attaches to a 3 inch arm with a half a ball at the end of it that faces upwards. The half ball then is attached below the bolt/nut that holds your windshield wiper on the car. Gm says it is not covered under warrantee. So does chevy dealership. Cup and ball attachment system in the wiper motor linkage with no clip to stop it from popping off. Gm question reference #140916-000069.

Vehicle turned off in the middle of taking a left turn. Caused the car to go off the road into a graded lot. At this point causing my tire to go flat and damaging the fender and passenger door. This is not the first time the car has turned off on me. I have had it in the shop 3 times in the 4 months that I have owned this vehicle and still nothing is resolved.

Air bag indicator came on 1 month after I bought the car and called to see if it was cpvered by the million recalls but was told my VIN number isnt on the recall list. How is it that my car is doing the very thing the other 40,000 recalls from chevy but mine isnt covered. Will never buy another chevy and I am counting down the days til I can trade it in!!!!¿.

Previously to the visit my car was running slow and kept marking engine speed reduced then about a week later the car sign removed and started running normally again. About a month or so passed and the same thing happened again then I took the car in and they fixed it but after that the bluetooth didn't work and the navigational compass stopped working. Ever since then the bluetooth and navigational compass has not worked and I just run the risk of the engine reduce sign to pop up again cause it comes up spontaneously.

Purchased the car on 28 April 2014 from knox Ford in radcliff, ky. Noticed a faint burning smell. Was advised that I rode the clutch during the test drive. Had the car checked out and was advised it was good to go. The car was delivered on 30 April. It was finally driven on 5 Monday 2014 down to fort campbell, ky. At that point the car reaked of burning ceramic and the power steering locked up completely. After resting it for a few minutes and restating the car, it reengaged. Contacted dealer and was advised to go to local chevy dealer for assessment. Chevy dealer advised that the power steering module was reading that it was out of center and disengaging. Was also advised that a part of the clutch assmbly had been replaced a few thousand miles previously and seemed to be rubbing incorrectly. Knox Ford advised me to return the car to their dealership (120 miles away) and they would work on the car. Upon leaving the other dealership, the power sterring locked up again and didn't reengage. Drove the car 120 miles without power steering and returned to knox Ford to have them take to to a chevy dealership. The power steering module was replaced and the car aligned. The chevy dealer couldn't find an issue with the clutch. Reclaimed the car on 16 may 2014 and drove the car back down to fort campbell today 19 may 2014. Once again, the burning smell has returned. Not as strong but it's still there.
