general problems of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze - part 2

This car is crazy. Starts on its own if key left in ignition. Radio goes on and off constantly. Power steering tries to go out. Lights up like a christmas tree. I fear for my life and it needs a recall.

While idling at a traffic light I notice the "engine overheated - idle engine" came on. This has happen on a numerous of occasions. I've taken it in to be checked but everything works fine. It continues to do this at least once a week now. There has to be a recall for because I've researched and found that many other chevy Cruze owners have the same problem happening to them.

Over the last 3 years, I have had the same issues occurring. The engine overheats and a message that reads "a/c off high engine temp" appears. The hose was replaced, and it was ok for awhile, but the problem has reoccurred twice more. The engine gasket cover had to be replaced as well, and looks like it is leaking again, and over the last 3 years randomly, a message will appear that states to service stabiltrak. I've had a coil pack replaced and the message went away, but reappears every now and then, and upon start up of car most days, runs very rough and I have to wait a minute before putting into gear. The overheating and rough engine problems keep reocurring no matter what work I have done to it. Most recent issues with the ac off again, as of today, 12/8/2020.

Vehicle will lose power and shut off in middle of driving while trying to accelerate or slowing down, this occurs on highway, at stoplights, drive through, and city streets while stationary and in motion. Chevrolet dealership can not figure out the problem. This is extremely dangerous. Ecm has been replaced but still experience electrical problems as well. This is basically a death trap vehicle. It has happened numerous times with no solution.

While in drive, radio, dash lights and turn signals randomly shut off. Not sure if turn signals are working even though no sound - praying other drivers can see when I'm turning?? sometimes I'm just sitting at a red light and everything goes quiet. The length of time varies, so it can be startling when everything suddenly comes back on. This has happened many times over the past few months. Overall, may sound insignificant, but the (working??) turn signals is a safety issue!!.

The car will be stopped at a red light or a stop sign, the car will be idling for seconds start shuddering then stall out in the middle of traffic then the check engine light will turn on. We then have to shut the car off with the key, cycle it then turn the car back on.

While I was driving my car will say roll driver window up and down. Then it lost power steering for a few seconds. Parked it at my house went to start it and it lost all power but the flashers stayed on. It has happened twice in the passer two weeks. I talked to another person that had the same car and theirs did the same thing.

Radio goes out intermittently and can't here blinker while driving.

Not sure what's wrong. I've fixed things already like mass flow sensor, air filter, motor mounts a valve leak. Cars been in and out of the mechanics for months. Cars engine shut off 2-3 times while driving with my daughter in the car!!!!!. Another time it turned off right after I started it up. The car is unsafe!!!!!! I've had it had 2-3 different mechanics. And the chevy dealership. The car never turns off for anyone but me. This past weekend I was attempting to pick up my car from one shop to take to another and it wouldn't start. This shop had the car for a week and a half and it never turned off until I went to pick it up. Now they still can't find what's causing the problem. I've spent 2 grand in labor and tows in just the last 3-4 months. I can't keep doing this!!!!!! someone please help me figure this out!!!!!!.

When I drive the lights on the inside with go off and my car stops while driving or taking turns. One time I opened the hood and touch a hose or hire and it came back on. Sometimes I have to try and turn the key while it stops while driving and restart it in the middle of a highway or turn.

The radio goes off and on and the warning lights are coming on at the same time.

On the electrical part . . My car tries to start it I reported this before and now my airbag lights keep coming on and off.

With this condition,the radio/hvac display turns off and on; the antilock brake system, service traction system, service stabilitrac and steering vehicle messages may come on and off; the turn signal sound may not be heard; �battery saver active� and �service steering� were displayed in the driver information center (dic); and the interior and exterior lighting flickered. Recently power steering assist was also lost, and greater effort may be needed to turn the steering wheel at low speeds or while the vehicle is stopped.

The shifter will not shift from 56th and a manual on the automatic.

Nox position 1 sensor went bad. It was recalled on other chevy Cruze diesel vins but mine was not recalled and it went bad I took it to the dealer for a check engine light and they told me it was a nox sensor but that it was not recalled on my VIN so it was not covered.

It starts on its own.

Was driving on the freeway exiting the offramp that curves to the right. When I turned the steering wheel it locked up and the stereo turned off. I had no control over the direction my vehicle was traveling. I applied my brake, to keep from hitting another vehicle. When I pressed my brake the steering wheel unlocked briefly then locked again. Then a yellow ⚠️ warning light illuminated and my car began to pull to the right. The stereo powered on and the steering wheel returned to normal. The yellow warning ⚠️ light turned off. I continued to travel another 1. 5-2 miles more to my home and it happened again. This time a green dash light illuminated and said service power steering. I parked my car at that point. I am contacting the dealership to make arrangements for repair. The reason why I am filing a complaint is because of the danger associated with this type of malfunction. It put my life and other drivers life is at stake. This is not an acceptable way for a vehicle to function. This is not the only time I've had an electrical issue with my vehicle. In October 2018 after driving to mammoth California my vehicle completely turned off while I was on the highway. Something similar to a stall out.

While the car is in park and no one in the car and the key in the ignition but the key in the off position the car continually tries to start by itself. The car is not equipped with a remote start.

Everything on the dash shut off. Heat and air shut off. Service stability track warning comes on. Engine fan running all the time. Steering locks.

For a few weeks now, I have noticed that the radio and dash lights will suddenly cut off, and then come back on. I have had the vehicle inspected but no issue was found. I have not been able to narrow down what triggers the issue to occur, it will happen at random times. There is no way to replicate the event without just being in the car when it happens. Just in the last 30 minutes it occurred: 1. While accelerating to 40 mph; 2. While breaking to come to a stop sign; 3. Maintaining continuous speed at 30 mph; 4. While stationary, rolling up my power window; 5. And, while stationary, foot on break placing the vehicle in park. The randomness of these occurrences and the fact that there are no senor warnings/codes to notify the dealership concerns me. Depending on the type of commute, a potentially dangerous situation could occur without warning to the vehicle operator.

Sometimes while driving, if you hit the brake or hit the window switch, the power to the radio panel and drivers display will cut off, sometimes the "service stabilitrac" signal will come up and the power will come back on after a few seconds, when this happens it will also cut power to the power steering, if you are not prepared for it or your not aware of the situation it can surprise you, it can be especially startling while turning and all of a sudden power cuts out and you have trouble steering, the car will stay running and the power will cut for a few seconds, and then everything will go back to normal. Looking online this seems to be a common issue with the earlier chevy cruz. I am just not sure of the full extent of the issue.

All the sub-systems on the 2014 chevy Cruze are controlled through the radio system. When backing up, the backup camera, which is displayed through the radio entertainment screen, does not engage. Several of the other sub-systems, including the ac, the radio itself, and other systems are also intermittent while driving the car. In order to reset the system the car has had to be pulled over to the side of the road and turned off completely, let sit for several minutes, and the restarted. After doing so the system has reset, but has done the same thing days or weeks later. After bringing the car in to the dealer over four time the problems have yet to be resolved.

The page previous to this one would not let my check every box (3 max), the other things I would have checked that were affected are -lighting -speed control -steering -wiper -traction pictures show these two signals that pop up "service stabilitrak" and "service traction control". Whilst im driving some come things start to happen; the radio/ dash stereo will flicker on and off- all noise stops (any music or blinkers), the heater/ ac wil stop blowing if it is on. Sometimes when this happens my power steering will also go out, jerking the steering wheel while im driving, and happens alot when im turning (very scary). The dash will also flicker with abs, brake, traction, lights. Some days it will happen very frequently ,other days it will only happen a couple times. I am uncertain what I am doing that is making it act this way. When I am at a stoplight, or drive thru and the same thing as above happens my engine will suddenly shut off while my windshield wipers activate out of no where- very startling (this has happened while my gear shift was in park and while im holding the brake in drive). This has happened multiple times and while in different situations, stationary, in motion, city street, highway, turning, going straight, braking, none of this has happened until a few months ago. Sometimes when I start my car in the morning to warm I come back outside and then engine had shut itself off. The traction does not seem like it is gripping to the road very well, winter has just started, and I am scared to drive it. I am going to get it checked out at a chevy dealership as soon as I get the money. I have just now had the car for a year, myself. Thank you.

The car was being driven from one state to the next. It was a two in a half hour drive. Not even a hour into it the check engine light came on. The we made sure to check everything before we left home. It was fine. Than the auto start wouldn't work. Allied on start and they said you should be able to. But I can�t. Than it started making this weird sound whenever I drive. I went to autozone and they said there's nothing caught in it, it's the engine. Now whenever I drive and wait at a red light the car starts shaking a lot. It's raining now and I'm scared I my loss control.

Driving home at 9pm on a high speed/traffic highway, we had all electricity/steering suddenly go out, then when it came back on popped up with a "service stabilitrak " message. Luckily, it came back on before a wreck but scared all of us to pieces. The car was being driven at the posted 70mph speed limit, but started to decelerate when power was lost. This happened on 07/08/19. Today, 07/11/19 we had to jump the car and the turn signals no longer do the little "click" noise, and the dash screen/backup camera won't come on, although the radio still somehow works. Also on lunch break today, car was dead, key wouldn't come out of the ignition till the car was jump started. As this seems to be a major issue with the car, why hasn't it been recalled?.

My chevy Cruze is very unsafe. While driving, the stereo begins to shut on and off and the display starts displaying various warnings such as "service stabilitrack". Over 5 times now, when I begin a turn from being idle, the same occurs but with the added problem of the wheel locking up and not letting me turn it. I have had to stop almost completely while turning to avoid hitting something head on when the steering wheel gets locked. Please please look into this problem.

Radio screen loses power, goes completely black. Music stops playing. Warning lights on dash come on. Message appears on dash "service stabiltrack" shut off for 1-4 minutes, and then came back on. Loss of power steering. Happened 7 or 8 times in a 30 minute period.

I financed my car through drivetime in June 2019 and from the time I got the car I have been having electrical issues. My car has also been in a really bad accident prior to me purchasing it and when I tried to return it. They just kept telling me to go to pep boys because I had a 60 day warranty to fix any issues. I should not have had to take my car to any mechanic if I got it from a dealership. I now have really mad transmissin issues and I havent even had the car for 3 years. I believe this company sold me a lemon and I dont know how to prove it. I dont have the money to fix all the issues.

When I turned off my car and the keys were in the ignition my car tried to start itself. . . It now does it frequently.

I was checking a lot of the stats online for the 2014 chevy Cruze and there were already reports out safety reports that there were some issues with the vehicles ignition and power steering and there were numbers and codes and I'm a bit upset because they sold me this vehicle knowing that there was some things that were wrong with the vehicle and that could have been my safety at risk while I'm driving on the road and the engine just shuts down the way it's been doing.

The side detection went out and they fixed it then I had to have it changed again im going to start a law suit because I should not have to pay for something that keeps blowing out ive talked to a lawyer and they said I have a good case.

All digital electronic messages will spin if you turn key where you would read speed. Manual gauges are not working. Check engine, air bag, stability control system lights all on. Car started for less than 5 seconds and the smell of extreme electrical so bad. . Turn off immediately. Lift hood and everything too hot too touch. Can't get help from anyone! they say no recalls. The car is a recall where. I purchased it at, gallas Chevrolet, albuquerque nm told me before this di not drive could be fatal. But will not pay for a tow or diagnostic test. When I park my car and if I leave the keys in the ignition it starts itself I cant get a video I tried but I never know when its gonna do it it started about 6 months ago and now it's doing it alot more.

Nhtsa is number 11193552 I have the same problem as this customer to the t. The cars radio will shut off while driving after I take they key out while parked the key fob will not lock the car and then if put into the ingishon it will eat the key and lock up . This is a common problem that needs to be looked into there shouldn't be a youtube video with 50k views on how to get your car key out of the ingishon after the elitrical problems. Please fully read NHTSA number 11193552 report as it is the most detailed and reliable source of info for this problem . It happens more often then once so the date when this happend will be the latest accornce of this.
