general problems of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze - part 1

I was driving my car and all of a sudden out of nowhere my car speed gage starts to bounce up and down my engine sounds like it’s stuck in first gear and won’t shift and I can’t go any faster then 35 mph and I tried to make it to a spot to pull over and it altogether stoped accelerating so I was stuck pulling over right there because it wouldn’t accelerate. I shut it off and let it sit for a bit and it started right back up like normal and drove fine till I got to a certain length of driving and it was doing it all over again like it was in limp mode and all my electrical stuff was on the frits as well so I haven’t been able to drive it since because it keeps doing it and I haven’t spent hundreds of dollars putting it in a shop three times already only to have it go back and do it again and my brakes when I press on them make a squishing sound and then some clicking sound before it goes into limp mode I don’t know where to even begins to fix it at and it was all out of nowhere. It was driving fine then all of a sudden this crap starts.

A engine always seems to run hot smells like it's burning constantly leaks coolant even after repairing electrical problems reoccurring smells like weird chemicals inside of the car when you turn on smells like gasoline and coolant this occurs every day.

Turbo overboost unable to drive for safety or cause for more damage.

What happened 1. A dashboard message has been popping up since December 11 on my 2014 chevy cruz car. I only have 77,000 miles on it. The message indicates “service tracking control “ 2. I took the car to the dealer and they said they did a number of repairs and I was charged 900. Some odd dollars to fix some parts to re-zoll veve the tracking control issue. 3. I let them know that that message kept coming back up. 4. After several times of taking it back to the dealer paying another $78 for another part they still do not know what the problem is. 5. The main concern is that the message displays over the digital speed control and I cannot determine how fast I am driving. The dealer does not know how to fix this problem. It is a safety concern because I cannot tell how fast I am driving I have I cannot get this problem fixed, and the dealer does not know how to resolve the problem.

Hello, I bought my car used from a dealership called cody's classic cars in wisconsin. I bought it at 26,000 miles. I saw on the carfax report that there was a recall concerning the headgasket that was said to be repaired back in 2014. I have had the car since 2021 and have driven very little, currently I am less than 53,000 miles. There seems to be a coolant leak we cannot find. We replaced the overflow container and that did not fix the problem. The top of the oil dipstick has a bit of clumping which would indicate coolant leaking into the engine. I have not been in any accident and have maintained my vehicle. I was just wondering if there was any warranty on the recall work done. If the headgasket was recalled and "fixed" but it is an issue again, will the manufacturer cover the repair cost?.

I don’t know why my coolant is leaking.

I have had my 2014 chevy Cruze for 2 years now and have kept up with regular maintenance. My vehicle rocks back and forth while on the brakes, there’s an constant issue with the traction control system, my automatic lights don’t work (I have to many turn on the light in order for the brake lights to turn on), the vehicle shakes side to side when braked, and so much more. When I take the vehicle to be looked at every mechanic and shop tells me there’s nothing wrong or they don’t know.

Recall on my car has no remedy and has had a safety recall for 7 months. I have tried to contact both chevy and gm for a solution as I do not feel safe driving my car and they both told me I just have to wait. So now I am unable to drive my car out of fear for the safety of myself and others, and they will provide no solution other than to just wait and allow my car to be unused for an undetermined amount of time.

Leaking 90% of my coolant within a 60 sec time period.

Issue 1: service stabilitrak and flashing check engine light, has been repaired multiple times. Loss of power and shaking while driving. Replaced ignition coil pack and spark plugs. Check engine code misfire. Issue 2: thermostat sensor, check engine light, display on dash says ac off due to high engine temp, radiator fan constantly running, engine temp gauge stuck on cold. Thermostat has been replaced multiple times.

I was going down road and car shut off and immediately came back on and down road it did it again and all dash lights and interior light came on and had to restart car and dash said service sterilitrak soon.

My headgasket blow due to excessive overheating or other problems I’m not 100 percent sure. I’m not sure if my vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My head gasket blown on the highway, this is very unsafe due to cars around me going excessive speeds. Chevrolet recalled some 2013/2014 Cruze models due too problems with the head gasket. It’s unknown if my vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Right before my head gasket blown my engine light cut on.

My vehicle has under 80,000 miles and the catalytic converter is already bad. Its causing engine issues and the vehicle to jerk forward when stopped.

My front catalytic convertor has gone out at 160,000 miles heard it could possibly be die to ecm?.

Power steering forums say there a recall my car and light is on. So is there ? manufactured July 2013.

Failed catalyst converter due to hot exhaust overload. . Cracked ceramic lining in catalyst.

When parked and left to idle after driving for a while, the traction light comes on and the dash displays service stabilitrak and traction control. After this happens the car seems to lose power and sometimes feels as if the breaks are catching and letting go.

In the steering column it’s really hot where you connect to make a call and where you turn on cruse control. This part of the steering column should not be hot.

At 4:55 am on February 4, 2022 the alarm sounded on my car that was parked beside my front porch. I was confused ; as I never locked my car and did not understand why my alarm would be going off. I opened the front door and the front of the car and underneath the engine was in flames. It was burning under the hood and burning and sparking behind the passenger side front tire it was very close to my home so I woke my son and we grabbed a few belongings and went out the back door. I was sure the fire would consume my car and our home. I immediately called 911 and the local fire department arrived and put it out but not before the windshield and all the tires exploded. This could have been deadly. There is absolutely no reason for my car to catch on fire. The police dept was notified and they reached out to me asking if I had full coverage insurance on my car that had burned. Unfortunately I did not. The car was paid for and I had liability insurance so I totally lost my car for an unknown reason. I looked for recalls , I called the Chevrolet company and asked if they could do an investigation but no they did not. There are recalls on earlier models of this car for combustion fires but not this model year. I wanted to sue the company as this was very traumatic and if this car had been in the garage it would have been a terrible disaster. I did not have time or money to spend on a lawsuit at the time I am writing this now because this needs to be on a public forum for other owners of this make and model car. I have lost trust in the Chevrolet company and will never ever buy another gm product. Two years later I still have no answers and nobody seemed to care that my car caught on fire for no reason in the early morning hours while we were sleeping during a rainy cold February morning and had not been driven since 9 pm the night before. Coolant system constantly leaking on thermostat housing, water pump and hoses. I’ve had it repaired 4 times!!.

The heater blend door actuator and or lever gear for the blend door actuator that controls the windshield defrost failed and this raises a major safety concern as it strictly limits your visibility. This is becoming a known issue on the Cruze as I have seen and heard of the problem repeatedly online in the Cruze forums. This needs to be seriously addressed to general motors and be taken care of. Plus the cost to fix it is over $1,300. 00 as the entire dash needs to come out. Please address this safety concern.

My radio was getting hot all the time I had a touch screen the dash would get hot and the glove box on top got hot. The sides of consoles would get hot to. I think my car had no engine shield it only happen when my car was running other ppl with 2014 Cruzes say the samething.

When the car is stopped, the brakes and in drive or reverse, the engine jumps-hiccup. The car move slightly forward every time. It has no check-engine light or code. The mechanics all said it could be a manufacturer defect. It happens mostly in the morning. Most of the time it works properly. The car has 45,000 miles. Also the belt tensioner has been raplaced two times in a month, is still giving issues.

Windshield linkage fails while in use( driving in rainstorm) leaving driver with no wipers on drivers side.

When parking the car and shifting the gear selector to the p position, the vehicle fails to recognize the car is in park - an error message appears that states �shift to park�. The car will not shut off as it doesn't recognize the car is in park. I have had no choice, but to leave the car running while I went into work since it would not allow me to turn it off. Also, when this happens I cannot park the car in my garage as the exhaust fumes fill the garage. The problem is sporadic and happens about 70% of the time that I drive the car.

Over the last 3 years, I have had the same issues occurring. The engine overheats and a message that reads "a/c off high engine temp" appears. The hose was replaced, and it was ok for awhile, but the problem has reoccurred twice more. The engine gasket cover had to be replaced as well, and looks like it is leaking again, and over the last 3 years randomly, a message will appear that states to service stabiltrak. I've had a coil pack replaced and the message went away, but reappears every now and then, and upon start up of car most days, runs very rough and I have to wait a minute before putting into gear. The overheating and rough engine problems keep reocurring no matter what work I have done to it. Most recent issues with the ac off again, as of today, 12/8/2020.

The car is a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze lt that was just purchased from a used car dealer and within the first week the engine retards itself and throws a check engine light. The code reads p0325 when read. The wiring has been checked out and has nothing wrong. The knock sensor has been replaced twice. After being replaced, the code will go away anywhere from a few minutes to a month and then the same issue starts all over again.

When I drive the lights on the inside with go off and my car stops while driving or taking turns. One time I opened the hood and touch a hose or hire and it came back on. Sometimes I have to try and turn the key while it stops while driving and restart it in the middle of a highway or turn.

Transmission shifts from 5th gear to 2nd randomly at 70 mph.

My engine light came on and I took it to two different local mechanics and both confirmed the issue was the catalyst converter. One informed there was a recall and after some research found it was true. I called my dealership and they told me it was VIN specific and that mine was not pulling up any recalls. I search on this website and indeed no recalls. This issue started at around 50k miles and they did not want to take any responsibility. It is what it is but I plan to drive the car like that as long as I can.

We have a well maintained 2014 chevy cruise . It's my daughters car and it completely shuts down in the middle of driving it . . . . . Dangerous . There are a lot of complaints out there but no one seems to do anything about it .

Chevy Cruze 2014 will turn off when I turn on the ac. The car always thinks it is overheating. I bought this car new no miles on it in 2014. I always have issues with this car. Already had the battery change three times. I had to change the thermostat recently. The front windows motor stop working.
