general problems of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze - part 1

My service lights keep popping on and start shaking etc.

According to my car being diagnosed the fuel pump needs replaced. The car is available for inspection. A warning signal is on my dash board, its the check engine light that is on.

My 2014 chevy Cruze has been having some major safety issues as of late. The powertrain has been one of the major components in this system that has failed. The engine has overheated 3 times in the last 3 months causing many safety concerns to others on the road as well as myself due to having to randomly pull over on the side of the road on the busy highway. The car has jolted many times due to losing power and causing my neck to have a severe pinched nerve. These issues are related mainly to the fluid cooling/management systems and related hoses. It is available for inspection upon request. The problem has been confirmed by independent service center. The engine light repeatedly goes on and off causing many issues to the car daily.

Well like everyone car has this nasty cloud of black grey smoke turns out I have a faulty catalytic converter. Not to mention the constant over heating. The change of the water pump thermostat multiple times. This is a nightmare. I drive with one eye on the road and the other on my needle gauge. I drive with my 2 kids and my biggest fear is catching fire. We inhale the smoke as we drive. Unfortunately this life is taking a toll on me. The stress of this car and always needing something is terrible. Get a new car right. Yeah if life was simple we wouldnt be struggling daily breathing in all thise chemicals.

I am writing to submit a formal complaint regarding serious safety violations and malpractice by slvalley Chevrolet, along with accountability concerns with general motors (gm). This complaint follows an existing case with the utah attorney general consumer protection division (complaint sr:9-1384660535) and highlights multiple incidents that compromise vehicle safety and public well-being. Summary of issues: 1. **electrical issues and unsafe repairs**: I incurred substantial costs, including a recent invoice of **$2,210. * dated **October 23, 2024**, for a supposed resolution salt lake valley Chevrolet was supposed to have resvoled for an electrical issue. Despite this, the electrical problems remained unresolved, indicating a lack of professional workmanship and charges for servces not rendedered. Also additional time and money wasted. 2. **damaged oil pan**: salt lake valley Chevrolet caused damage to my oil pan, and they attempted to charge me **$866. * for this damage. I believe this to be an unfair and unjust practice that reflects poorly on the integrity of their service. I authorized an oil change with the electrical issue and after service the car came home leakinig oil. They damaged the components. An oil change would not have been conducted had there been damage. The April invoice with this company will also show a previous oil change and at that time no issue. 3. **continued safety hazards**: I paid **$531. * on **September 23, 2024**, for a battery cable replacement, oil change, and tire rotation, which resulted in a new leaking oil issue and a flat tire. My vehicle broke down in traffic due to these unresolved problems, creating a potential accident hazard on the road. Tried to charge me for the damage they caused to oil pan and plug. 4. **carcinogenic smoke exposure**: I faced severe health risks due to inhaling carcinogenic smoke following a service in **February 2024**. A leak at the turbo line feed was noted, and d.

The car starts smoking upon acceleration and the engine light comes on. It also has a lot of oil on top of the engine. I took the car to an independent dealership and he stated the engine and gaskets are bad and this is a common problem with the 2014 chevy cruz. I've been told there was a recall and read online of a recall on the engine. However, I did not see a recall when I entered the VIN number on the national database. I need for a manufacturer representative to contact me as soon as possible to make this situation right.

My car smells like oil burning with white smoke . And the valve cover leaks and the head gasket is damaged I need help still an issue the air bag light on. This car is un safe.

Car all of a sudden started to slow down on the highway throwing all kinds of codes like service stabillitrac, throttle body position sensor, pressure intake manifold and lots of other ones.

The car would randomly stop working while driving. One of the times it stopped, it stopped while driving on the freeway.

Note: 628 safety complaints has been submitted to the NHTSA. Major complaints submitted by several consummers for the VIN: 1g1pg5sb9e7351745; 2014; Chevrolet Cruze and this vehicle has not been removed from circulation. This vehicle should be considered a sever safety violation and removed from the road. My son-in-law purchaed this vehilce for his daughter back in Aug 2023 and within the first week the car ran hot and could'nt be driven. The car was taken back to the dealer but the dealer refused to take it because there was no warranty added to the purchase. It has been sitting parked becuase we were told the engine was so bad it should be totally replaced. We'er positive the dealer was well aware of the vehicles condition (there was no visual indication) the vehicle was in such poor condition. The dealer even had an on site mechanic who assured the buyer that the car was in good condition but they bothe (owner and mechanid) decided to take advantage selling the car anyway. Can you direct us to whom ever can assist us in getting help in resolving this issue. Regaring the following questions, I feel is irrevalent as all past 628 complaints has been submitted in your system.

My reverse camera stays on for a few minutes after putting it in drive which is distracting. I keep looking down at the screen to see how long it takes to go out and back to my radio screen. The trunk randomly opens even when I am driving and then it won't open at all. The bluetooth randomly cuts out while I am driving and talking on the phone which causes me to become distracted while driving. There is an issue when I put gas in the car as well. I have bought 2 gas caps, the one on there now is oem dealer cap. The cap is on with 3-4 clicks, no check engine light but when I stop at a light, the car feels like it going to stall. No lights come on when it does that.

I have a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, and when I turn the ignition off it sounds like it's trying to start on it's own. It also has a faulty catalytic converter.

Several times the steering wheel mechanism locked up while driving and I was unable to steer it momentarily. During that time several warning lamp indicators intermittently illuminated, and the radio shorted, and the instrument panel flashed or blacked out. Also, there is a coolant leak. I have the vehicle at the dealership repair center and they haven’t reproduced the above problems, but did find a problem with a engine coolant leak from the water pump and a radiator hose in which they are repairing.

Vehicle will lose power and shut off in middle of driving while trying to accelerate or slowing down, this occurs on highway, at stoplights, drive through, and city streets while stationary and in motion. Chevrolet dealership can not figure out the problem. This is extremely dangerous. Ecm has been replaced but still experience electrical problems as well. This is basically a death trap vehicle. It has happened numerous times with no solution.

Having a coolant leak and can't find the source . . Had dye put in by mechanic told to drive for a couple of days . . Went back and everything is dry no leak detected but loosing coolant . . Fan comes on ac shut off due to engine overheating. . Sitting and or driving.

I was sitting at a red light and my vehicle began to move forward with my foot on the brake. The vehicle began to increase in rpm's like I was pushing on the accelerator but I was not!! later that day I went to the gm dealer to see what they could find and didn't find anything cause the computer had reset since I had shut the car off. Two days later the car did the exact same thing so I immediately drove to the car dealer. Told them how dangerous that was and I couldn't believe the car was acting like I was giving it more gas when I wasn't!! they hooked it up to the computer and found the problem this time. It had to do with a crack in my pollution canister. With that crack my computer thought my car needed more gas and would give it more gas. I can't believe they let a computer program give your car more gas and you have no control of it and without warning. The first time it did it I was not prepared for it and when the computer gave my car more gas it began to move into the intersection and almost caused a horrible accident. Since the dealer replaced the pollution canister I have not had any problems. I have warned everyone I know about what happened and to be prepared for it. It just amazes me that more people haven't been seriously hurt by this! hopefully that crack that caused my problems doesn't happen to anyone else!!.

Every summer the same problems occur. When driving upwards on an incline street the car loses all power. Pumping the gas gets it restarted very slowly. Also, in hot weather, when attempting to merge onto a highway the car will not accelerate properly fo a few seconds. The dealer's tech claims it is a design problem and there is nothing the dealer can do to fix the problem.

I am have issues with the p0420 error code. I took the car to a mechanic who advised that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. Not believing what he said due to the car being fairly new. I went to auto zone to have the codes read and of course the code displays with the p0420 code. I see that this was a recall on certain models but did not include my 2014 per VIN check.

This vehicle was bought brand new and is only 6 years old. Why am I having to replace the catalytic converter on this vehicle?!! I've been having problems with the car jerking and riding rough for over a year because the dealership (superior Chevrolet in decatur, GA) swears there's nothing wrong with the car. Now all of a sudden that I no longer have a warranty, I need to replace the catalytic converter.

I had my stabilitrak and traction control lights and my check engine light come on my vehicle while driving down a normal city road in sunlight on a clear warm day and my vehicle started idling very roughly while driving and I was right by autozone so they ran codes and found out it said knock sensor and misfire. Well I drove it home 5 mins down the street and park it. Well I take it to my mechanic the following morning and he does a diagnostic and piston check and turns out my spark plug burned so bad it was burned away where the l hook is. And found out that it broke in my combustion chamber somewhere . Now I have to get this all fixed and its costing a few thousand dollars.

Cat was sputtering and stalling after I had the oil changed and air filters checked. I got it diagnosed and the codes given were p1101 p0299 p0171 p0106 I was coming to a stop at the light when I noticed some squealing or whirring under the hood. I opened the hood and the engine is like . . . Moving.

"takata recall" catalytic converter not working properly. Check engine light goes on and off numerous times. When the light first came on, the vehicle was in motion heading south bound on hwy 167.

The catalytic converter went out. Got so hot it blew my head gasket as well as hoses and casing for water reservoir.

My car lost power and does not get up to speed as it should.

We have put over 3,000 dollars in this car and only had it a year and half. Every time we fix a problem someone else immediately goes wrong. We are currently on the 3rd turbo, replaced coilpack for a misfire, replaced plugs, pvc valve and cover, different hoes to the engine, sensors. It has 110,000 miles on it. Its my daily drive to work and its been broke down half the time ive owned it.

We have had to replace the entire def system twice, replaced two knock sensors, had to replace the diesel partilec sensor, among many other time being the shop. This car has not ran right since we bought it. Now, everytime we start the car and begin to drive it, we get a warning about the stabiltrak not working, then powersteering goes out, and entire car shuts down and goes black when the car is powered off. This seems to be a very common issue within these vehicles.

I've had my 2014 chevy Cruze for about 2 years now. Back in December 2018 it started having a lot of issues. Antifreeze was pouring out, it was spitting and sputtering, rough idle,and overheating, made an appointment with chevy dealership. They had my car about a week. The said water pump was failing,thermostat was out, cooler outlet hoses needed to be replaced. Not even 12 hours later I was taking it back in for the same problems. Engine lights were still coming on. This time they fixed the oil cooler line, and crankshaft. A few days passed and again I was still having the same issues. Took it back, and they fixed the crankcase ventalation, camshaft cover, intake manifoldintake air pressure sensor. Maybe 2 weeks passed and I finally got upset and took it 45 mins to another shop, within a few hours I got a call that my head gasket was blown. I was still having all the same issues as I did when it first messed up. I ended up having to take it back to the other dealership who had been working on it. They kept me car for 29 days while fixing my blown head gasket. They resurfaced it and fixed clamps. Well, Thursday July 11 I was at my bosses house trying to back up under a shade tree. When I started the car, it sounded horrible. It was just spitting and sputtering. I out it in reverse and hit the gas. My car started rolling toward! it would not back it. I went to hit the brake and it did nothing. I had to pull my emergancy break before I ran into her fense. I immediately got on the phone with the dealership 45 mins away. Set my appointment up. Later that night on the way to take my kids to vbs, we were stopped at a red light. While trying to cross over a main highway the car just started spitting and sputtering. It was barely moving even though I had the gas pedal to the floor. Got it to dealership 45 mins away Friday 12th. Anothe blown head gasket. That car is not safe.

I started having issue last year with the engine. I called chevy and was advised my warranty expired 12 day's before my complaint. After doing some research I learned that multiple consumer's across the country are having the same issues with the heating system and engine. I feel my car should have been recalled. The vehicle will just shut off mid traffic without warning. I have invested more than 1000 dollars and it's still having issues.

Faulty parts have caused issues with the engine, such as constant engine ticking, and squeaking when slowing down and below 1300rpm. Both of these problems I believe are causing the enging to have power loss and ultimately make this vehicle less powerful and become undependable. Beyond those problems I consistently get warnings about the traction control and stabilitrak. I am doing what I can to fix this thing but believe it should not have left the factory.

My 2014 chevy Cruze experienced a fuel leak in the fuel supply hose. The leak was spraying right near the air induction on the cowl panel and dripping onto the exhaust. Obviously this was a major fire hazard. The entire front front fuel feed line needed to be replaced. A quick youtube search shows that I am not alone in experiencing this. See the video below. . Driving home from work at 11:15pm on September 8th, nearing the toll plaza in gary, indiana the car made a sudden sound kindve like a bang, the engine shut off, all the lights on the dash came on, I came to a stop and tried several times to start the vehicle and it would not do anything. Every time I tuned the key to the off position and then turned it to accessory, the dash displays service air bag and service power steering. The windows, door locks, truck release will not work. I had to call my insurance company and set up a tow to get the car back home. I had to be at work at 7am that day, I worked 16 hours, and didn't get home till 1:30am on September 9th. The car is in my driveway, it will not start or even turn over.
