Keys constantly stuck in the ignition. The air bag always turns on and off. Now, there's gas leaking somewhere and you can smell it well after the cars off. I think it may be the fuel pump, which is very pricey. All these were recalled in the past but none of them included my car. ?? ??.
Engine overheating "stationary and in motion" seems to be a common problem with most 2006 and above. I replaced the thermostat, the water pump, I performed a radiator flush, replaced the ect sensor, and still the car over heats. I did a compression test and it's fine, I checked the head gaskets and they are fine. The oil looks fine, the radiator fluid looks fine. I went through a car wash after replacing the water pump, thermostat, and ect sensor. The car still over heats, both at idle and after driving 2 miles or 10 miles. I've been told it's either an electrical issue, a radiator issue, or engine electrical issue. I can not keep putting money into a car that is only worth $2,500. Many other people I have noticed posted the same issue of over heating and nothing is being done about it. It should be a chevy recall, and repaired by the manufacturer. Here is an example of 1 other complaint:. . . . . . . . On November 17th the vehicle started to tell me that it was overheating and to turn a/c off. A/c was not even on because it was cold and the heat was blowing cold air. The vehicle then told me while I was trying to get to a safe location to pull over that the engine power was reduced and the vehicle stated to crawl along the road. When the vehicle was looked at where I pulled over there was minimal oil in the vehicle and it had blow coolant all over the driver side wheel well from what looked like the overflow tube. Oil was put in the vehicle so that I could drive it to a safe location. On November 18th I went to start the vehicle to go to work and without going any place but sitting in the driveway it started to tell me that the engine was overheating and to turn a/c off. The vehicle was towed. The dealership that I use worked on it and replaced the temp control and thermostat and did a complete oil change. Many other Equinox owners are having same issue.
We bought our son this vehicle when he got his license back in sept 2019. The front passenger seat sensor isn't working causing the passenger air bag to not be safely engaged. This is a huge safety issue and should be a recall and replaced immediately. Also, there is hardly any heat coming from the blowers. We had it in multiple times but noone can figure it out. We have replaced: heater core, water pump, thermostat, radiator, resevoir. Ect. . Flushed it a million times and had the heads pressure checked, nothing worked. It gets very little heat when idling, and gives "luke warm" heat when rpms increase while driving. Last winter my son could hardly keep his windshield defrosted/defogged and almost lost visibility while driving to school. Not to mention freezing to death with no adequate heat. This is a huge safety issue.
Key gets stuck in ignition , current and ongoing problem. Initially dealers instructions where to keep all other keys off chains which worked for years but no longer works reliably.
"takata recall" stability traction control indicator lights. No warning for brake problem. The brakes locked up and wouldn't stop or slow the car before entering a curve on a major highway.
Tamara recall. My key will not go into the off position on the ignition to remove it I half to wait until I hear a clickin noise before it will go to off an able to remove also I was driving down hill an my car shut it self off I had no power or couldn't steer my brakes was stiff I got it to stop an my car had shut off on me while I was driving down hill.
At a hundred thousand miles my car decides to have no heat so take it to a mechanic and he tells me it's a blown head gasket 2500 to fix I bought this car brand new in 2007 kept up with all the mechanical issues oil changes the car has been good other than this this seems to be the problem with these Equinoxes as I read all the reviews.
Nhtsa camp # 07v344000, seat belt sensor, NHTSA camp. # 07v242000 windshield mount I have a 2007 chevy Equinox, my windshield is leaking, and my passenger side air bag keeps going on and off depending on how somebody sits in the seat. I went to google and looked up the recalls for my vehicle. And those 2 recalls listed at the top are 2 of the problems im having with my Equinox. I called chevy corporate and they told me my vehicle VIN number is not part of the recall. If my vehicle is having the same problems as the one with the recall, they should expand the recall to cover the rest of the vehicles affected.
I have had a 2005 and a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox both were in accidents and the airbags did not deploy . The 2005 was a rear end crash the car that hit me was traveling approximately 60 mph. The second accident was a frontal crash I swerved to miss hitting a dog and children going on the road. The steering wheel locked up and hit a tree. I have had 3 Equinox all have ignition switch problems. The one I have now has major transmission problems. It has been in the shop now for 8 weeks.
The sunfoof drain tubes leak into the interior of the vehicle causing flooding of floorboards as well as headliner. The water drips from visors/headliner onto electronical componants and dome light, an obvious hazord. Dealer showed us the problem, but claims they have never seen it cause flooding. This problem is widespread on the internet and needs to be addressed. Other gm models have been recalled for the same issue. We informed gm of the problem and they were not willing to stand behind their product. This happens every time it rains stationary or in motion.
Ignition key will not turn in ignition causing vehicle to not start. Vehicle stationary. This has happened several times since we purchased, but is happening more frequently. Steering wheel needs to be turned sharply several times and gear shift must be jiggled with and it will usually start at that time. Very scary!!.
The ignition switch/lock cylinder is sticking and won't turn sometimes, causing the car to not start.
While driving either on city or freeway the car started shaking, jerking, and vibrating really badly when applied pressure to the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not gain speed, instead it would slow down and it felt like gas was not going trough. The check engine light came on. Sometimes the key will not come out of the ignition and I have to turn the car back on then turn the wheel, but sometimes it takes more than this to get the key out from the ignition switch. I had vehicle towed to a Chevrolet dealership and they could not find anything wrong or could duplicate problem. When I picked up the car I had drive it 15 miles and the car started doing the same thing.
In the month of February 2016 vehicle started to tell me that it was overheating. The heat was blowing cold air. Without going any place but sitting in the driveway it started to tell me that the engine was overheating and to turn a/c off. I could still hear the fan running while driving and once I parked it would run for a while. Why is this not a recall with all the complaints that I see on this subject any help would be nice.

The vehicle was towed. The dealership that I use worked on it and replaced the temp control and thermostat and did a complete oil change. In the few days after this work was done I could still hear the fan running while driving and once I parked it would run for a while. On November 25th I was driving and the vehicle stated to say engine overheating and to turn a/c off once again I had to travel a short distance to get a semi safe location to pull over since the engine power was reduced again and the vehicle crawled along. The heater was blowing cold air I could hear the fans running inside the vehicle as well. This was the second time I had to have the vehicle towed in a week. It is now November 30th and I still do not have my vehicle back because they are still "working" on it. I see a lot of 2006 Equinox's with the same issue not sure why this is not a recall because it is very inconvenient to not have a car and to miss work. I am sending pictures from the second time it was towed.
My son was driving his 2007 chevy Equinox around 50 mph and noticed a smell coming from the brakes. He got home and told me they were dragging. I checked them after they cooled down. My initial thought was worn pads. I pulled the wheels and calipers and pads were good. However I could not compress the dual pistons back into the housing on either side until I loosened the bleeder screw. Being careful to not get air in the system, I was able to get the pistons back into the housing to make sure they were not stuck. I reassembled the brake system and tires. I tried to put the brakes to force the front pistons back out, but I had no pressure. I started the vehicle to see if the brakes were working, no they aren't. Now I have no breakes, front or rear! fluid will not flow back to master cylinder nor will fluid flow to calipers. My question is, master cylinder or abs module.
Within the last month my car has started emitting a very strong gas odor and has been having starting trouble every time I try and start the car. In the past I have had it hesitate to start, but that occurred less frequently and never noticed the smell. Ever since I noticed the odor, again about a month ago, it is happening every time I try and start the car. The engine turns. . . But it takes a minute before it catches and starts. Sometimes it will not catch and start and I have to turn the key a 2nd time for it to actually start.
After lifting the lift gate it fell and hit me on top of my head and knocked me to the ground, the lift gate no longer pulls up easily.
I havent had this car 6 months when the stabitack is messsing up not on just mine I've talked to many who own theses cars some are 08 and 09 and 07 thats a bit much why is there such a problem, many cant complain they dont know where to go for help. I stumbbled across this site. . . . This is a big deal I'm putting this site on facebook so people can complain. Gm needs to do somthing this is expenisive for folks to repair when there on a fixed income. Ive aways drove a Ford . This is making me reconsider my decision. . And I cant keep a starter on this car ive had 3 put on in the last 2 weeks. . . Whats the deal? this car and others are a areal pain I can provide you with many on a list that has this car and the problems and what drop down box??.
Everything single time that stupid light comes on and says stabilizertrac,my car slows way down then comes to a dead stop. You cannot control the car, you cannot give it gas, you cannot put on the breaks, you cannot steer it. You cannot do anything to it. It stops on its own, ive been in the middle of the intersection, I could have been killed, if a semi or a dump truck were coming. That's pretty scary. I want to know how to fix this? what needs to be done? ive asked some mechanics and they had no clue what I was talking about. I need some help on this? anybody? I'm very frustrated, I bought that dumb car in October of 2014, on December 12,2014 it broke down, I just got my car back on April 9, 2015, yes you read that right. This idiot had my car all these months, he never returned any phone calls nor was he ever at the garage, then I finally got it out of there to ano5her place,n they had it a couple of weeks, I get i5 back and I drove it for four days and it breaks down again.
When car is parked gear shift is in "park" the ignition key will turn off engine but cannot remove the key. Must restart engine, put into gear and back into "park" and turn the steering wheel for a second try to remove the key. Sometimes it takes 4 attempts to get the key to come out! has been on-going for several weeks.
My passenger side airbag does not tell when somebody sitting there so if I have an accident the airbag will not go off I don't think the sensor is working it has been replaced once already. My key gets stuck in the ignition I have to wait for it to click to get it out of the ignition.
I was driving my 2007 Equinox yesterday when I had to hit the breaks a surge of water came from under my backseat soaking all the carpet. After that I looked in the trunk. The trunk was dry so I lifted it up to check by the spare tire and found a ton of water. My car has had a funky smell for awhile now. I am not sure how long the water has been collecting. But this is a major health issue. I have two small children and I have no idea how long we have been breathing in this mold and mildew. Gm please help with this issue. I have read many other cases here on the internet. This is a manufactures defect!.
Took car in for vibrations. Tried replacing tires to see if that was problem. It was not, it was u-joint worn into flange and center support bearing has excessive play. Replaced rear driveshaft asm with center support bearing.
The ignition key would get stuck in the ignition. The only way I could get it out would be to repeatadly shift from park to drive or reverse until the key was released.
When I put my vehicle in park and try to turn off my car, the key gets stuck in the ignition more often than not. I then have to turn it on, back up, pull forward, and turn it off again to see if it will let me take the key out. Sometimes I have to do this 5-6 times!.
I purchased a 2007 chevy Equinox at a chevy dealership in 2014. A couple of weeks after purchase I started having trouble with the key in the ignition. It would sometimes get so I could not pull it out of the ignition after putting the vehicle in park. I have waited for a year, because I believed the problem would get better. The problem has continued, and is slowly getting worse. I have even tried different sets of keys to see if that made a difference, it has not. It does not matter if the vehicle is parked on a flat service or on an incline, the key keeps getting stuck in the ignition. I have even taken all other keys off the key ring thinking that would make a difference, it did not. The only way that I can get the key out is by shaking the shifter on the floor and wobble the steering wheel back and forth. That does not always work, so sometimes I have to turn the vehicle back on and off again to get it to come out. I am afraid that one of these times I am not going to be able to get the key out of the ignition which will make it easier for someone to break into it and steal it from me. I have gone back to the dealership that I purchased the vehicle and told me that I would have to replace the ignition cylinder at my own expense since there is no official recall on the part.
I have been having problems off and on with the ignition, the key gets stuck in the ignition and I have to usually wait a few minutes and move the gears while in park to get the ignition to let go of the key. My worry is the fact that gm has recalls currently on ignition problems which have caused the vehicles to stop while driving. My vehcile although gm; is not currently on the recall list but it seems that this problem I am having can be in relation to this sort of thing.
Igniton lock up, could not turn off igniton. Motor still running, had to turn wheel back and forth to find a spot to turn off igniton continuing problem. We have already brought to dealer ship to have problem corrected. They were not able to find problem.
Several times ,I was not able to remove the keys from ignition switch,,the vehicle could not be shut all the way off.
The ignition locked up. It continues to jam up sometimes at unpredictable times. On this morning the signal for service air bag lit up. I continued driving and after a few minutes it turned off. I took the vehicle into my local dealer (james wood) on March 11, 2014, where I was informed the air bag may not function if I am in an accident. The service air bag light has continued to light up more frequently. Presently it turns on almost every day or every 2 days. Concerned the air bag will not work when it is needed. I realize that as the owner of the vehicle I am responsible for the maintenance of the car on parts that are used and worn, but in this case, the malfunction of an integral part of the vehicle associated to the safety and performance of the vehicle should be a standard functioning part that should work throughout the life of the vehicle.
The key started getting stuck in the ignition about 8 months ago or so. I can not remove the key on most days. I have to turn the ignition on and off and shift in out of gear to release the key.
The ignition key would get stuck in the ignition. The only way I could get it out would be to repeatadly shift from park to drive or reverse until the key was released. I took it to my local chevy dealer for repair. It cost $544 to get it fixed. I have heard of others having the same issue.
The ignition will not release the key. I have tried the shifter, sit and wait in my car to see if it will release with time, step on the brake for a long time then try to take the key off and hope it will release the key. I can't keep sitting in my car waiting for a miracle to happen when I need to log in to work and am stuck in the car because the key won't come out of the ignition. This should be recalled. With az weather being so hot sitting in the car waiting for the release of the key is making it hot to breathe. Don't want to roll down the windows because I need the key in to get the windows back up. Something needs to be done about this problem. This has gone on for several months I need something done about this. This is dangerous.
Vehicle purchased 2014 with 113,000 miles. Since, key is difficult to remove from ignition (doesn't recognize the vehicle is in park). Rpm gage rarely works when in motion. Passenger air bag turns off and on when a person sits in it of any weight/age.
