The traction engine and stability error message stay illuminated on my car. The other day I was at an intersection where the cross traffic doesn't stop . When I decided to go the car would hardly move almost leaving me in the middle of the road where I could have been hit. This has happened several times, it feels as if it's a five sped and your trying to take off in 3rd gear. . . Very dangerous! I took it to a chevy dealer but they couldn't clear the codes . Sometimes the car has power and sometimes it don't. This is my 16 year old daughters car and she drives my other 4 girls to school . I give her my car because I know this isn't safe. I see there are hundreds if not thousands of people who are having these issues. This needs to be addressed before somebody dies! I have only owned this vehicle for 4 months ,this is my 2nd chevy I have owned and it will most certainly be my last.

The car starts to jerk while driving almost causing me to have an accident. The transmission jerks and the tractions control makes the car become undrivable. The computer in the car is defected I purchased the car last year in 2013 and the car computer transmission is no good.

Check engine light came on and car felt sluggish. Took to dealership and found throttle body asm/tps registers incorrectly. Replaced throttle body asm.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2013

During the winter I began to hear water moving around somewhere in my vehicle as I drove around but had no idea where this sound was coming from. I was vacuuming my vehicle one day and the carpet was completely soaked. I began to research online and found that many Equinox owners had leak problems and they had found water had accumulated in the spare tire well. I checked the spare tire well and sure enough approximately 9 inches of water had accumulated in there. I cleared out that water but water is still somewhere in the front end of the vehicle because I can hear it as I drive, water also leaks through the overhead lighting. I contacted gm and they advised I bring the vehicle to one of their repair shops for assessment, the shop stated the problem is the sunroof module at a cost $2600. After this assessment gm notified me that they are unable to offer repair assistance because the vehicle is out of warranty, something they knew prior to requesting I bring the vehicle to the shop and having me spend approximately $200. This is clearly a manufacturing issue which many Equinox customers have and gm is not accepting responsibility for. I find it hard to believe that they are able to get away with this. I am now stuck with a vehicle that holds water in the body, a carpet which has gotten wet and will more than likely continue to get wet so it has a constant odor and a vehicle which leaks through the overhead lighting, seems very unsafe. The water trapped in the body of the vehicle will more than likely cause the vehicle to rust and perhaps even cause more serious problems. This is not fair to the consumer, gm should be held accountable for the defect in this and other Equinox vehicles, to issue a recall for the repair of this defect is the least gm can do for their customers.

When I turn the vehicle off, the ignition key stays stuck. Even if I turn it back and forth it does not come out, I have to wait about two minutes before I can take it out. Sometimes, if I move the key extremely fast, I am able to take it out on the first try. I have seen this complaint on this vehicle before but there is still no recall.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2012

We were traveling 3-28-2013 and were about a hundred miles from our destination when the service stabilitrac, service traction control and check engine light came on. Less than a year prior to this on 4-19-2012 we had a similar incident, which happened to be the power steering control module. We made it home 4-2-2013 and took it to the shop and found out the egr valve need replacing. I replace the egr valve and cleared the codes. All was well till 4-7-2013 when the service stabilitrac and service traction control lights came on again. I have not had a chance to look into this.

Failure Date: 03/05/2012

The key will not release from the ignition when the car is in park and turned off. This happens about one out of every five times the car parks. I normally have to wait about 1 minute for the key to release. Sometimes, it will still not release and I have to turn the car back on, put it in reverse and go a couple feet, then drive forward a couple feet, put it in park for the key to release. I may have to do this 3-4 times before, the key will finally release.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

After vehicle is turned off. The key cannot be removed out of the ignition. I have been dealing with this issue for years! in order to pull the key out. You must either turn the vehicle on then turn it back off several times before finally the ignition allows you to remove the key. The other way it allows you to pull out the key is by turning the key without turning the vehicle on then moving the gears from park to reverse then back to park. It just continues to get worse and worse. It is a huge concern to me because I am afraid that I would be unable to pull out the key out of the ignition. I took it to the dealer and they said it seems to be a common issue.

2007 chevy Equinox. Water leaks into spare tire well. I never had occasion to look in the spare tire well as I have never had a flat tire so I don't know when it started leaking. But after checking on the internet I find that this is an ongoing problem with this vehicle from the very first time that gm started producing this vehicle.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2010

I have the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox which been a lemon since new. Among the many breakdowns over the three years the driver side power lock does not work and the most glaring is the sudden failure of the power steering assist motor. My wife was putting air in the tire and the battery failed. The battery needed a sudden recharge. Why pay on a vehicle with constant breakdowns. The repairs alone on the power steering assist motor are over 700 dollars to also get the stabilitrak light off. The recall of the power steering assist motor on the Chevrolet cobalt needs to extend to the Chevrolet Equinox as well. Now with no money to fix the motor, the driving has and is an adventure with no power steering. Even if I could fix the vehicle myself, the part is virtually unavailable.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2008

Extensive water intrusion in the spare tire well. This has been occuring more often in the last year. Approximately 4-5 inches of water is filling following a rain storm.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 90 mph, the vehicle accelerated to a high speed. The contact downshifted, which caused the vehicle to decrease to an appropriate speed. The failure recurred when he shifted gears; however, he was once again able to downshift the vehicle and it returned to a normal speed. The dealer stated that the floormat was caught in the groove and caused the unintended acceleration. The purchase date was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 2,160.
