The car when I drive over the 60 miles, make auto break by self. Is really scary.
Car slows down , brakes lock up and get real hard, car want move. Try to put it in drive, brakes to hard , want move at all. Let it set for 35 min. Then car will move. Very dangerous, when car slow down and just stop, someone almost hit me.
Brake pedal kicks back when slowing down to break at slower speeds. Abs seems to not be working properly when driving at slower speed (5-10mph) and break pedal does not go down/press down when breaking. Breaks squeal when starting to drive.
Traction control antilock brakes self apply often even in heavy traffic.
2997 chevy Equinox - the car was in motion around 60mph, while driving the brakes activate by themselves and the abs, stability track lights come on. The vehicle stalled in the interstate several times. The car would not move when I accelerate. It seems at if all the brakes are active and not allowing the car to move. After almost getting clipped by a semi I had to think fast. I read the manual and found the abs fuses. In order to move the car I have to remove the abs motor fuse and the abs system fuse. This bypasses the system and the car is able to move. I have taken to a mechanic and they replaced dealer parts abs module and abs modulator "motor". I paid $1800 for the repair. Car has same issue as I drove a way from shop. When it stalled after repair I removed the fuses again and drove it back to the shop for repair again. Shop says these parts replaced are dealer parts and they will replace again with new parts. Called the Chevrolet dealership on this and they mention that there is no issue/recall with this at the time. The car has $80k miles and has been at the shop for two weeks still under diagnostics to try to determine the cause. Frustrated!.
On 7-7-14, while driving home from the doctors' office, the vehicle slowed down. It was like I was driving on a washboard and was very hard to steer. When I pulled off the road and was backing up to park, it was as though I had no power steering. I turned the ignition switch off for a few seconds, and when I restarted the vehicle, I pressed on the brake pedal and attempted to move the shift lever, it would not move until I pressed the brake pedal as hard as I could. Then the vehicle responded normally. This problem has occurred on several occasions. In June 2014, we took the vehicle to the dealership in an effort to correct the problem. They readjusted the brake pedal switch. I had no problem until 7-7-14 . We took the vehicle back to the dealership and they quoted us a cost of over $600. 00 to replace the traction control module because they told us that it was unrelated to the first incident. However, the vehicle was doing the same exact thing as the first time we took it in. After reading other complaints identical to mine, I'm not very comfortable with what I'm being told regarding this problem. I'm the primary driver of this vehicle, since my husband suffered a stroke on 2-18-2013. Too bad you buy a vehicle and do not feel safe driving it. I hope no one is injured or killed before something is done to correct this problem.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while traveling 15 mph, the traction control light illuminated and immediately after the shocks and the brakes engaged independently. The contact mentioned that the vehicle decelerated and the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure recurred only once. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 86,000 and the current mileage was 86,000. Updated 8/19/cn.
The vehicle just started to slow down, it was difficult to steer to get off the road. It felt like the car was locking up. There was a strong burning smell. I was concerned that there would be a fire. The vehicle would not go backward or forward. A tow truck had to be called. The diagnosis was the power brake booster, which they replaced. Two weeks later the car locked up again. Now they are saying the entire braking and stabilizer system has to be replaced.
I took my car into a power Chevrolet dealership back in September, they said there had been a recall for the coils/spark plugs. They fixed the issue, as my car had been stalling as I accelerated. Now, recently my electric stability traction light came on, along with my engine and "service brakes" light. I had my brakes done back in October at the same time as they replaced the coil. My car is starting to stall and do the same as it was back in October. I am not sure why chevy is not recalling or sending out notices about these issues. It's hazardous. I contacted a lawyer.
It happen at an intersection. I stopped at a red light. When I went to pull away the brakes were solidly applied without my foot being on the brake pedal. I ut it in park and pumped the brakes. When I tried to start driving again everything was released. It has happened a few times since and after reading online it seems many people are having the same issue.
The brake booster just stop working on my 2007 chevy Equinox. Brakes get stiff and not braking on contact, slides a while before it stops. Took vehicle to multiple mechanics and part is on nationwide back order for at least 2 weeks since multiple Equinox have brake booster malfunction. So now I have to drive unsafely for 2 weeks since unable to rent a vehicle for two weeks. Since so many people are having these problems maybe there should be a recall.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the brakes squeaked excessively when the pedal was depressed. The dealer could not remedy the failure. He is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 10 and current mileage was 5,284.
After the vehicle has been parked over night or for a long period of time ( a couple of hours) the brakes make a loud pitched squealing noise. This happens for the first 3 to 4 times you hit the brakes and then stops. I have only owned the car for a month and bought the car brand new. The noise is getting progressively worse and when I took it to the dealer they told me that this noise is normal.
