2010 chevy Equinox transmission failure. I am surprise there are so many complaints about the 2010 Equinox and GMC has not responded. I have the 2014 and 2010 Equinox models and I bought both new. I am now worried that I have too many cars made by gm. I have had problems with my 2010 Equinox for years but nothing close to the current transmission problem. My current mileage is 92,222. I was on the highway when it appeared my car skidded. I then changed lane to be safe. Next thing I know, the car rpm soared but the car would not drive. Essentially, the car acted as if it was on neutral when on drive. I then turned of the engine and restarted it and the car drove about 2 poles but would not further engage the transmission. I was stranded with my 8 year old son by the highway shoulder. I had the car towed to the dealer. Several hours later, I am being told that the wave plate in the transmission was broke and that I had to wait several days to know what other damage resulted. With the same car, I have had numerous problem with the bearings and frequent airbag problems. The car does not ride well like the 2014 model. For some months now, there has been an annoying low rpm noise at low speed that the tech could not diagnose. I am now wondering if it was the transmission failing all along. The same annoying sound is now occurring in the 2014 Equinox. It begs the question of whether there is a pervasive quality problem with gm vehicles. To gm, I demand a fix to this 2010 Equinox transmission problem. My VIN would be readily available. I was shopping for a gm truck but I am having to wait and se.

This car started giving me trouble the very week I git it. It was stalling and has this loud raspy sound. The dealership basin Subaru said it is supose to make that noise. I had to have it towed to Chevrolet. The kept it for a month. Put a rebuilt transmission in ghe car. Still has the raspy sound, just had the fuel pump replaced after the check engine light came on. One day later the check engine light back on. They replaced some sylinoid sensor. The ac blws out a weird mist. Air condition not working prpoerly. That aweful rattle noise is still there. Just holding my breath for tne next thing to break down. Bought this care 2 years ago and I cant get rid of it.
Purchased 4/2010 1 at a red light, car idled really rough, then all of the dash lights came on. I drove straight to the dealership. They checked it out and said I needed a new fuel pump. I had about 47,000 miles. 2. Oil consumption - the first time this happened I was hearing a funny noise when I turned left coming from the engine. My boyfriend checked the oil the next morning to find no oil on the dipstick. We put in 2 qts then when the dealer ship opened I took it in. They told me they could not find any internal or external leaks so bring in weekly for oil consumption test (I was about 1500 miles since my oil change that was done at the same time the fuel pump was replaced) drove out of town to visit family (about 2000 miles after oil change) after driving 200 miles heard the noise again checked the oil. . . . . . . 2 qts low. Added oil and took to local dealership. No problems found related to oil, but did find another alert that needed to be completed when I got home related to the water pump tensioner. Gm customer service again , but only was told to wait until my next scheduled oil change and start consumption tests again. 3. I pod jack - worked fine for the first 2 years, but then would cause all center console lights to go out, could not operate radio or a/c. 4. Stalling - I have only had this problem once but it was as I was turning left across 3 lanes of traffic! 5. Jerky transmission - the first time this issue happened it jerked so hard I thought I hit something. Took it to the dealership and was told, like others it was the transmission "learning" me. The transmission codes were updated and problem only occurs occasionally 6. Drivers seat lumbar support airbladder - has popped and had to be replaced two times.
Have owned my car now for 6 months and nothing but issues. It sees the dealer more then I can enjoy it. If one more update is done and I am told the problem is fix and really it isn't then my frustration will continue. From the oil leak, transmission decline rough, engine noise, key gets stuck in ignition, fuel gage and starting issues I wish I could get rid of this car and never buy chevy again. If I had not sold my other car I would put this up for sale and walk away. There has to be something to fix these issues as this was not a cheap car. It only has 52 thous miles and I will go back to Mazda where my SUV went to 285 thous with normal maintenance not major issues or my tahoe that I sold at 189 thous and no problems. I wish I had purchased another Mazda at this point. How do we get this problems resolved once and for all? this is crazy!I am not sure if a lawyer is the answer but I would hope that its not. I am sick of getting renals, being late to work to drop it off and shuttle. I bought this to have a car to drive not to take to the dealer over and over. The engine seal was already replaced and the problems are worse or not better at all. Seems to be known problems with 2010 so why is it that they are not getting fixed on our cars. I am happy to get my 27 thousand back and get a car that is not a clunker junk. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
