general problems of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox - part 2

The console dashboard lights remain on after the key is removed from the ignition! this has happen several times!.

My fianc� bought her 2011 Equinox used from a local dealer. She bought the 4 cylinder with 2 wheel drive. I think it's the plain edition? anyways it wasn't long after buying it that it started making noises that sounded like the vehicle was going to raddle apart any min. From day one it goes through oil like crazy! it seems like I put more oil in then fuel. Then she was coming home from work one day and the tranny stopped working. Pushing on the gas only made rps go up, like it was in neutral. So we towed it to a transmission shop with a great reputation. It didn't take long for them to find the problem and tell us the bad news. Whole tranny needed to be done and the bill wasn't going to be cheap. It ended up costing us around 3700 dollars after it was all said and done. Few week went by and it happened again. So we brought it back and more needed to be replaced. Thank the liars the shop guarantees their work because they took it for another week. We got it back a right away it was slipping going into 3rd every once in awhile. Once again we had issues with if and this time the guy said he going to order some aftermarket parts instead of using the cheap factory crap! the tranny has worked since then but I know that it's not working perfect either. Since then we have had to dump another few thousand replacing gaskets, the timing chain, and exhaust manifold. Now a new problem just came up and the center dash went blank and nothing works on it. The display is blank, no radio, can't adjust air flow and all interior sound stop making noises. Like the ticking of the blinker or dinging are just not working! we could have the car paid off with the amount of money we sunk in her car!! I hate everything about this vehicul and feel helpless. We still own on the car and I dont think it will ever be paid off before it dies for good!.

My 2011 chevy Equinox started having trouble when starting the engine. I would start the car and all my emergency lights would start flashing. Emergency blinkers, airbag service light, stability track and check engine light. I would start to drive and the car would just stall out. If I am driving below 10 miles an hour, the car will turn off. I was making a left turn and my car stalled out in the oncoming lanes almost causing an accident. I have been trying to get my car serviced for a while but all the chevy dealerships are booked solid around me. Reading the other reviews it looks like this is a common problem. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle and for a car to only be a couple years old, this should not be happening.

Sept. 09,2014 while driving with my 11 year grandson the engine turned off! we fear for our lifes.

2011 Chevrolet Equinox. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle suddenly stopped dead while driving and would not restart. The consumer stated it took him 20 minutes, to get the vehicle started again.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the volume on the radio decreased independently and then the radio volume increased to the maximum limit. The interior lights flickered on and off and the engine stalled without warning. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection and they were unable to determine the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.

On numerous occasions this winter, the vehicle displayed the message "engine powering down" & "service stabilitrak" while I was driving 65 mph at night on a very busy highway during rush hour commutes. When this happens, engine slows and the vehicle comes to a crawl within minutes - barely enough time to find a place to pull off the highway. When I shut off the engine, all electrical ceased, and emergency flashers would not work. Allowing the vehicle a 5 minute break then restarting (resetting the computer) fixes the problem. I researched this on the internet, and there are many Equinox owners complaining about this very thing.

Check engine light came on, had autozone run on computer, came back code p0011, found recall on code in 2011(11195a), car is doing same thing as recall stated, I called gm and they said it was not part of recall, I explained problem and they would not tell if part was under warranty, all they said was take to dealer. Gm told me so ES vins were recalled, but not all, couldn't tell me why this one was not recalled even though it is doing same thing.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the condenser, expansion valve and the compressor were defective. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 40,000.

The air conditioner stopped working completely, Chevrolet is trying to charge us 100-200$ but we have an extended warranty with the vehicle, not sure if what they are doing is legal, can they really charge to repair something that is still under warranty? I think the air conditioner malfunction is a symptom of a much greater problem, I. E. Electrical problems with the engine or computers onboard the car. Onstar says several things have been recalled on the car, but the government recall site has none of those items listed.

Vechile will shake back and forth everytime im about to come to a stop it will not allow me to press gas. Car odometer goes to 0 and I have no power to the vechile, the vechile just dies in the middle of traffic has been to the dealership twice already over issue this will be the third time.

I was driving my Equinox out of a parking lot and it stalled, I restarted it, drove it up the road and was going about 30 mph and it stalled again, I turned around back to the parking lot and it happened 2 more times. I have also be getting very poor gas mileage (15-18mph). The car was towed to the dealer and they said they reset the electrical control module because it had errors on it. This has thus far resolved the car from stalling but has not improved the gas mileage.

Two weeks after purchasing our 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, the engine light came on and the car lost a lot of power. We took it to the shop and they claimed there was a recall on the computer system that controlled the steering. Then, two weeks later, the engine made a loud, strange, noise when it started. It drove a bit, then completely died in the middle of the street. It was restarted, then it died and had to be towed away. Dealer said it is a faulty cam shaft. This car has 900 miles and it now 30 days old.

I drive a 2011 chevolet Equinox and on 3 separate occasions, it has shut off and would not accellerate right after cranking the car up and putting it in gear. No accidents have occured but this has happened over a dozen times and I have sent it back and forth to the dealership for repairs. The dealership says it is fixed but it continues to occur.

Shortly after purchasing this new Equinox, the dash lights would go off and then come back on after a period of time and variable miles of travel. I informed the garage where I purchased this vehicle and they said the little knob on the dash needed to adjusted. This did not work. I have had this vehicle to three different garages and told them of this problem and to enter it into the history of this vehicle. None of them have solved the problem and it is a safety factor when driving at night. The vehicle now is out of warranty but the problem still exists.
