Recall/loss of power I am filing a safety complaint regarding a 2023 chevy Equinox. The vehicle began losing engine power and will not go over 40 mph. This creates a dangerous driving situation because the vehicle cannot maintain highway speed. The vehicle has a fuel system recall, and the issue appears to be related to the fuel system. The vehicle is currently at a Chevrolet dealership and has been there for almost a month. The vehicle is currently inoperable. This is a safety concern because loss of engine power while driving could cause an accident. I am requesting that this issue be investigated as a safety defect. Sincerely, [xxx] VIN [xxx] mileage: 63,000 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
My car has been shutting down or going into limp mode. It has happened 4 times now and has left me stranded. The second time it happened I was going highway speeds and car lost power causing me to almost get rearended trying to pull my car off road. The 3rd time it happened my car stahled while idling and I could not get it to start back up in the middle of traffic at intersection. I have had injector and pipe replaced, ecm updated and now its going back to dealer as it is currently broke down again.
The fuel pump on my 2023 Chevrolet Equinox began malfunctioning on [xxx] when the check engine light came on. Less than 24 hours later, the light went out. On [xxx], while leaving a cvs pharmacy, the vehicle jerked, then the engine shut off. After putting the car in park, I was able to restart the car and continue on. On [xxx], the check engine light illuminated again. While sitting at a stop light in the turn lane, as I began to push the accelerator, the vehicle once again jerked and the engine shut-off, almost causing the vehicle behind me to collide. I was able to restart the car and continue on my way. On 3/21/25, I took the car to the local Chevrolet dealership (integrity Chevrolet in chattanooga, TN). After inspecting the car, the dealer informed me the high-pressure fuel pump and fuel pump module was bad and had to be replaced. The service manager agreed this failure was not the result of operator error and should not have failed after only 2. 5 years of normal use. The conditions/symptoms are almost exactly the same as those described in gm recall notice n222372310 (dated 5/23/23). The repair cost $1,113. 46 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after two or three attempts each time. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the onstar app notified her of fuel issues. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump and the feed pipe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,000.
No.
Traveling 75 mph on a 3-lane highway when the car jerked (as if it was downshifted), started to rattle, and then ultimately a ce came on with the "engine power reduced" warning on the dash. After a few close calls trying to merge over to the breakdown lane, I was able to rest safely and call for a tow. Unable to turn the car over after a few attempts, the car finally started back up after 5 seconds of cranking. Tow to certified dealer where they confirmed 4 codes were being presented by the car. The codes are: p0089 - fuel pressure regulator performance p00c6 - fuel rail pressure low during engine cranking p228c - fuel pressure regulator 1 low pressure p0171 - fuel trim system lean the dealer was unable to replicate the issue and is unable to fix or repair any part. Clearly, there is an issue with the fuel pump in these '23 Equinox's - just like the past model year!.
Check engine light on after picking it up from dealership.
Purchased a chevy Equinox on 2/17/23 new -0- miles @autonation Chevrolet doral, 10/28/23 while driving on i75 at 70mph the engine stalled by losing power all of the sudden, the accelerator pedal didn't work & acting quickly I was able to move to the right shoulder & get off the hwy. This situation could have been fatal if I had not acted quickly & the vehicles behind me had a chance to move away from me. Vehicle was inoperable, was towed to the same dealer, they determined it was the fuel pump that had failed. Took them 15 days to replace the fuel pump for a new one because the part was in back order due to several of these vehicles having the same issue. There were no warning lamps before the event they lit up after the vehicle failed and a message came up advising: engine power reduced. 10/12/23 had to pick up my vehicle since I have a financial obligation & also the dealer could not take it back and gm will not respond to the complaint. 5/18/24 my vehicle's engine failed again. I was driving on north us hwy 27 close to mile marker 36 at 75mph the engine lost power again & the accelerator pedal stopped working without warning. After the failure a notification came up advising engine power reduced. The vehicles behind me came close to hitting me, I was able to avoid them & made it to the right shoulder until a tow truck arrived & took the inoperable vehicle back to the dealer. This time the vehicle would not even stay on & onstar sent me an email notification advising battery & transmission also failed & suggested to take vehicle back to a mechanic. 5/19/24 the dealer determines again that the fuel pump they had installed as a replacement failed again. They will order another to replace it. I asked them not to repair I'm not taking the vehicle back I don' want my kids & me to die. I filed a claim with the general motors both times, the first time nothing was done. The second time I filed a claim with bbb auto line too. Still waiting for a solution.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving uphill, the vehicle lost motive power with the check engine warning illuminated. The contact immediately depressed the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle accelerated, and the light turned off. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The contact stated that two years later, while driving approximately 40 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred 9 days later. The contact believed that the failure was associated with an unknown recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,200.
While attempting accelerate on the highway at 70 mph the car entered "engine power reduced" mode resulting in the car to slow down. This reduced speed resulted in a few near misses on the highway. The check engine light than began to flash for about 15 seconds before all the messages went away and normal driving conditions occurred. Taking it into the dealership they pulled from the computer the issue of "multiple cylinder misfire" but could not replicate the issue. I also filed a ticket with gm letting them know of a potentially deadly issue but they sided with the dealer stating the car was operating within normal parameters since they could not duplicate the issue. The weather prior to the issue was rainy.
Getting vibration and loud noise at 35 to 40 mph since taking delivery. Have contacted dealership and they are waiting for gm to respond. I have seen similar complaints about drive line and drive axle complaints for earlier model year Chevrolet Equinox.
