Rearview System Braking Problems of Chevrolet Equinox

The Equinox is detecting objects in the rear camera that are not there and automatically applying the automatic emergency breaking. This is causing the car to completely stop and has now caused me to injury my back due to the force of the stop. There is no warning given that the breaks are being applied. I was backing up at 7 miles an hour and the Equinox just stopped dead and there was absolutely nothing near the car. The car was in for an oil change and they said nothing was wrong with it. This latest incident of 4 now happened today and caused me to almost be hit in the parking lot of my child’s school while backing into a parking spot.

Having issues with the windshield wipers clearing rain when driving and multiple camera malfunctions that I have an appointment to have both checked on 12/2. Wiper stops more than 4 inches from the edge of the window which I could probably just deal with, but when driving it pulls water anywhere from 3-8 inches further across the windshield making it very hard to see when it rains harder or you drive faster. I have owned more than 15 vehicles and never experienced anything making it difficult to see during inclement weather. The other issue is the cameras when backing up or going forward will malfunction for a day or two, then be good for a few weeks and malfunctions again sporadically. Have video of windshield wipers clearing rain issues, but it won’t let me submit, so if you want I can email. Pictures don’t show issue as well.

Backup camera not working and the display on dash shows triangle and a camera crossed out. Dealer has been advised 1 month ago. The camera is supposed to be on backorder.

This created a risk of being rear-ended in traffic, nearly caused an accident, and also risked injury to my dog who was inside the vehicle during one of the incidents. The sudden braking while backing out of my garage also poses a safety hazard. The problem occurred suddenly without any prior indication.

I purchased this vehicle in November 2022, with the understanding that it was not equipped with lane change alert with side blind zone alert and rear cross traffic alert, but the car would be retrofitted as soon as parts were available and that should be in a short time frame. To date I have not heard from gm or koons of white marsh on this retrofit, so I started asking questions. I also visited the sales lot at our dealership koons of white marsh and found that these safety features are installed on all 2023 Equinox models - so clearly the parts are available. Koons of white marsh is saying now that they do not know when or if these safety features will be installed. I wrote a letter to gm's ceo and received two calls from the executive support team. First call - we would have part by q1 2023; 2nd call said they do not know when or if we will receive the part. This missing part is putting my safety at risk as well as others driving around me as I do not have full alerts to the traffic around me.

I was on interstate 85 going 70 miles an hour when I got on the interstate the brakes were working perfect got to go on 70 miles an hour and traffic started stopping when I hit the brakes it was so stiff that I couldn’t apply it ammo divert to the emergency lane and pushed with all my mic and finally got it to stop if my wife would’ve been driving it which is her car she would’ve been severely hurt probably.

The infotainment/radio display goes blank or only shows random lines. This problem continues to happen several times per week. When this occurs, the back up camera does not work which I believe violates fmvss 208. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership twice and the issue has not been fixed. The first visit they replaced the radio/radio display and that did nothing to help the problem. The second trip to the dealership in October 2022 resulted in them stating the problem could be a usb cable and placed it on order and we are still waiting for the part, which was supposedly on back order.

I have noticed my car does not signal to me when I'm getting to close to something in my backup camera. In other words I backed into someone's garbage bin while reversing. I was going very slow. This is a problem for me as I don't feel the camera is very accurate. I was watching the camera and listening for a beep with no music or air going because I had noticed I hadn't heard the thing beep before. I was only in the driveway but this could have caused an issue if I was parallel parking on a side street in town.
