Warnings Problems of Chevrolet Equinox

Just after thanksgiving, my vehicle displayed a “service emergency calling” message. I brought it to the dealership and they documented the concern, referencing gm bulletin pip6077b, but no repairs were performed. On December 30th, while parking, I shifted into reverse and the vehicle would not reverse and instead moved forward. A “service transmission” warning appeared and the vehicle was towed. The dealer cleared the codes and released the vehicle without performing any diagnostics. About two weeks later, when starting the vehicle after work, several warnings appeared, including “service safety restraint system,” “forward collision system unavailable,” and a rear-seat alert despite no passengers. While driving, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and blind zone steering assist were not functioning. The next morning, the vehicle suffered a complete electrical failure. It would not start, the screens stayed off, and the doors would not lock or unlock. The vehicle was towed again. The dealer replaced the battery, claimed it had simply died, and attempted to return the vehicle to me. I refused because none of the prior warnings were diagnosed, and I was told the codes “erase when the battery is changed. ” after I demanded full electrical and transmission diagnostics, including a parasitic draw test, the dealership informed me the vehicle was unsafe to drive. They stated the onstar/telematics module was draining the battery and the replacement part was backordered with no estimated arrival date. I was told multiple customers are waiting for the same part, which means this is not an isolated event and needs way more attention than it's being given. This defect results in loss of essential safety systems and complete vehicle shutdown, creating a significant safety risk.

On three occasions, gas pedal went limp, and required restarting engine to reset controls to get gas pedal working again. On one occasion, brakes failed to operate leading to a collision. And forward collision warning did not activate.

My vehicle randomly turns off the foward collision system causing its supercruise system and adaptive cruise control to turn off while driving on the highway potentially causing and accident. I took it to the dealer in marlton NJ with the foward collision fault light on and they cant find anything wrong with the system as it resets itself after thr vehicle is turned off for two minutes. On our facebook page I am not the only one who is experiencing this I will attach some documents of similar issues apparently gm has been aware of this for a while and no fix yet.

While driving south bound on an early morning drive in bright sun, the forward collision avoidance/alert system and adaptive cruise control kept intermittently disabling itself. This continued to happen for 20 minutes.

On 10/9/2025 I pulled out of my driveway and less than 300 feet from my house I struck a deer. Weather was approx 50 degree and clear. There was no dew on my windows as I park my car in the garage. There was approximately $6200 worth of damage done to my vehicle and what concerned me the most was, the car never engaged the emergency stop. I mentioned this to the insurance company and they really had nothing to say. I have had bicyclists get too close to me on the road and my vehicle engaged the emergency stop. After repairs were done on the vehicle, they had a third party come in to do a calibration of all the sensors. He could not perform the calibration due to #pit6274: error message referring to vision camera system with dtc b1c48 - (Nov 4, 2024). I just dropped my vehicle off at the dealer and mentioned this to them and they are claiming there is nothing they can do about it. I started looking around online and have seen several other people complain about this and I knew it affected my adaptive cruise control as I have gotten this error a couple times before and I just thought my window was dirty. What I did not know is this also affected my emergency stop as it does not tell me that in the warning. If this is a known issue, this is a serious safety concern and to have the dealer tell me there is nothing they can do is not acceptable. If the camera was functioning properly that morning, there is a good chance that I would not have gotten into an accident.

When there is dew, condensation, or rain on the windshield, the front end collision warning system becomes inactive and displays the message: "front end collision system inactive-clean windshield. " this happens frequently, even with light moisture, and the warning system remains disabled until the windshield dries completely. Given that wet or low-visibility conditions are precisely when collision avoidance features are most critical, this failure creates a serious safety risk. I have verified that the windshield is clean and that three are no obstructions on the camera or sensors. Despite this, the system consistently deactivates whenever moisture is present. This issue appears to be a design or sensor calibration problem, not a maintenance issue.

I was pulling into the parking lot of my job. The one pedal driving mode was on, and my vehicle was not slowing down like it generally does. So, I immediately stepped on the brake, and it still didn't slow down, it felt like a brick, I stepped on it harder. It still did not stop! I ran into the barn/building I work in. I was terrified!! what if there was a person there, or another car, or kids playing, etc. I immediately called the chevy dealership in woodland at 8am, they had me tow the 2025 Equinox to them. I just talked to them at 4:30pm. They said there were no messages with regard to the braking system. They said they would install the update, and would continue to diagnose the problem. I do not feel safe in this vehicle, it poses a significant risk as a driver!.

They have the gear shift stick near the wheel like older models. You have to brake to move the gear shift and push a button in on the gear shift to park. However, when driving you can move the gear shift, which I have done accidentally. The gear shift does not lock while driving. Twice the gear switched to l2, which I do not know what that is but it causes my engine to over work. This is dangerous especially trying to switch the gear back to d when at a speed of over 50mph.

Telematic module system is malfunctions with a nationwide recall on the part. Chevy representatives have no date for when the part will be in. The computer system in the car is not working. I can't reach onstar the internet I pay for doesn't work. My car has been in the service department for a month this year for the same problem and it's out again. Engineers from chevy have worked on it as well. I need help with this situation. It's possible that the this failure could drain my battery causing it stop while driving. The service department and chevy customer service just keep apologizing with no real dates on when this part will be in.

My fuel pump just gave out randomly while driving on the highway. Unable to drive over 14mph. I head other 2018 Equinox’s experienced this problem often. I believe my vehicle should be included as well. In the past I’ve also gotten a random alert that my forward collision was disabled while driving on the highway with no warning. It always goes away on its own.

Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the vehicle braked suddenly and forcefully without cause. This created a risk of being rear-ended in traffic, nearly caused an accident, and also risked injury to my dog who was inside the vehicle during one of the incidents. The sudden braking while backing out of my garage also poses a safety hazard. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? the problem has occurred multiple times but has not yet been formally reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no, the vehicle or component has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning lamps or messages appeared prior to the braking events. The problem occurred suddenly without any prior indication.

Inappropriately activates forward emergency braking without a vehicle ahead or obstruction ahead. Inappropriately activates reverse emergency braking without a vehicle or obstruction behind. Inappropriately activating forward collision alert without vehicle or obstruction ahead. Gauge cluster display goes black while vehicle is in motion. Hypersensitivity of the left blind spot monitor. Activates without a vehicle or obstruction within the blind spot area. Causes distracting strobing during dark hours. Dealership claims to be unable to reproduce any of these issues. Claims there is no software update available to address these specific concerns nor is there a software update available in general for the vehicle. The unexpected emergency braking has left me stuck in the middle of a normally busy intersection as well as blocking another two lane road when my gauge cluster also turned off with a emergency braking incident and I could not change gears and did not know the parking brake engaged as well due to the display being off as well.

I manage a fleet of 12 of these vehicles for a veterans affairs hospital. I have had numerous complaints from the drivers about how distracting and invasive these systems are for the drivers. The red dash lights are blinding, the audible alert scares someone who is not used to these things and are very distracting in a tense moment when you need to be reacting, you cannot because you are too distracted by these systems. I myself am a disabled veteran with ptsd, and this system sends triggers my ptds to where I cannot operate the vehicle. Please design something less invasive for anyone with anxiety/ptsd/depression/epilepsy/light sensitivity. For someone with any of these conditions these vehicles are completely inoperable as soon as the red light glares back off the windshield.

My front collision alert system has stopped working, I have taken it to multiple dealerships within my certified vehicle company. Next, my automatic high beams do not function at all, which is difficult to navigate at night without them. I have tried to update my vehicle and sent it to other dealerships and they cannot figure out what is wrong. And lastly, my lane assistance system is not working either, every time I have tried to reset, nothing has happened. Due to all of these functions not working the automatic high beams, I have had to be extra careful when driving at night. The lane assist system not functioning at all has made driving in compact roadways more difficult. Lastly the front collision alert system not working at all has caused many incidents that could have led to multiple accidents. I have talked to customer service agents, mechanics, and car managers from dealerships and they can't figure it out either. Please help!.

I get a ‘forward collision system unavailable’ warning frequency when the outside temperature is high and the humidity seems high as well. I thought this was a one time thing but it has happened multiple times. I thought the issue was related to my old battery but the issue still appears after replacing the vehicle battery. The last time it happened was on July 31, 2023 at 3:20pm (eastern time zone). I live in newry, south carolina. The high for the day was 100 degrees.

Got hit at 40 miles an hour in a parking lot while a running dog came through and it was caotic.

My own words, that my vehicle didn't stop, the car driver in front stop short my vehicle just ran behind the car. My 2018 chevy equniox I have purchase last year for it safety reason pay extra now and days, those safety is not there very disappointed with gm what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? automatic emergency braking - together - forward collision warning.

I am deaf and this have problem engine and oil keep leak and show road ice but outside warm. I try use collision road it not show light on nothing. .

I constantly get error messages when the ambient (outside) temperature exceeds 100 degrees. The lane keeping assist, the forward collision sensors, etc. When it gets below freezing, the forward collision sensors, the brake assist and the service indicators go bonkers.

After purchasing the vehicle in April 2021, 3 months later upon traveling home and entering an exit ramp the brakes completely locked while going 35-45mph into ongoing traffic downhill and would not allow me to press down on them so that I could come to a stop. I press the emergency brake and that did nothing. I had to glide through traffic into a gas station parking lot almost slamming into a gas pump. The sewer dip allowed the vehicle to slow up and come to halt blocking the traffic. This happened after midnight so I took it to the dealership in which I purchased. No lights appeared on the dash. They advised me the brake booster pressure sensor, brake booster vacuum hose and then after doing so they said non of it fixed the issue, I would need a new brake booster. All totaling over $2000 for a vehicle I had less than 6 months. Shortly after the month following July or August, stalled and the push to start button wouldn’t activate. I waited a few moments and then it turned on, with the engine light lit. I took it directly to dealerships service department and they had it a month, they eventually said it was the oxygen sensor and it needed to be replaced. I reached out to gm about all of the issues. They stated there were recalls but not for my VIN. Crazy now less than a month, a slight fender bender, another vehicle crossed into my lane, the sensors did not initiate, I had to swerve to Dodge from causing any major damage and avoid on coming traffic. My vehicle sustained minor scratches on the front passenger side. Initially 30 minutes after it was running fine. Then the light sensors on the mirrors both sides remained on. No engine lights, no warnings. I’m traveling down the 5 lane highway @75mph and the vehicle just shuts completely off. I had to get across traffic and avoid causing an accident. The vehicle would not start. Got it towed back into town. Back to the dealership and was advised I needed a new engine! now I’m without a vehicle.

While driving vehicle, received "service esc" warning on the dashboard with 4 "lights" on the dashboard. Abs light, traction control light, stability control, and parking brake light. Lane keep assist has been disabled, front collision warning has been disabled, and front pedestrian braking has been disabled. All of these lights turn on and off continuously while driving and sometimes will turn off for a couple of hours and turn back on.

Vehicle has 55000 miles and check engine light is on. In scanning the car I was told that p0010 the intake positions actuator circuit and p0013 exhaust camshaft position actuator circuit needed to be serviced to the tune of between 1200. 00 and 1500. 00 dollars which is normal for these cars I. Think this is bs I have oil changed every 2000 miles or 3 months with castrol dexos 5w30 and lucas oil stabilizer. Sounds like this should be covered by yhe manufacturer.
