My wife was driving the vehicle home late when the service engine light came on traction control came on then service stabilitrak light came on and stayed. Made steering very difficult, like old time truck would have been. Luckily kept control or could have resulted into something very serious! bad part no early warnings, vehicle battery has never been jumped or used to jump (read something about blowing mega fuse ) vehicle 5 months past 5 yr. Warranty with only 64265 miles on it . I have read of this occurring to many others, hopefully no injuries. This seems to be a problem that needs to be resolved. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

When starting the vehicle I get 2 warning lights. 1: traction control off 2: service stabilitrack. I have also read that this is happening to alot of Equinox owners, and have since found out this issue has happend on 2007 Equinox models, as well as several other gm model vehicles. I am appauled that there is no recall posted for this issue!!!! I have also read that there could be vehicle fires, engine power reduction, engine power cut off, wheel hubs could break off!!! this needs to be recalled immediately as it is a major saftey issue!!!!!!!!!.

I bought a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox in 2010. It has a problem with service stabilitrak and check engine light on. I called service advisor at chevy dealership and needs to run diagnostic to find out problem with stabilitrak. The vehicle has over 71,000 miles, should be covered with drive train warranty. I will need to pay for diagnostic first, then the problem will be covered under warranty. I feel the warranty for drive train should cover the diagnostic charge and parts, labor. Now I cannot bring vehicle in to service until $$ are covered for diagnostic check. The warranty covers used cars drive train. Let me know, and let the dealership know about this complaint. I was running my Equinox 2008 when suddenly the light came on it was the stabilitytruck system service and we can't run it its the power stereering so hard we took the battery and is not working, I don not know what to do, tomorrow we have to take it to repair shop and it will cost a lot of many.

My 2005 chevy Equinox's brakes started vibrating when I would try to stop and then the abs and tc lights would come on. Replaced front breaks, was told back breaks were okay. Still had the same problem and after awhile the brakes would vibrate even when not breaking and sometimes have trouble stopping until the abs and tc light comes on. 1st diagnostic determined I needed a right front wheel speed scensor. Replaced it and 2 days later had the same problem. Next I was told it needed the left wheel speed scensor. Replaced it. 2 days later starting having the same problem. Then I was told it needed the right front wheel bearing. Replaced both front wheel bearings. Still have a problem only now the breaks only vibrate and lights come on on hills, when turning or going at higher speeds.

The vehicle was taken to a local shop who was unable to diagnosed the problem but advised to chance the air filter. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 44,000 and current mileage was 45, 000.

The t/c light stays on and acceleration is very slow. Car shoots forward with loud noise with acceleration. Nov 4th started. . . I took it to a car shop and they said I need to replace the transmission control system. . .

The vehicle abs system start to fail at 50,000 miles. When you start driving the vehicle it makes the abs diagnostic and fail the diagnostic. It's continue to make the diag. While your are driving until it fail. Then the vehicle continue operating normaly but without abs and traction control. The abs and traction control ligths is on. If you brake in bad wheather the wheels lock and abs don't protect. 3 diferent mechanics try to find the fault unsuccesful. They replaced, abs modules, some brake parts and other parts but the fail continue. This is a very dangerous situation.

C. 552(b)(6) on icy road surface, with traction control on (default in this car), the abs brakes on chevy Equinox 2006 would not stop the car. The wheels would not stop until the traction control is turned off by the driver. The condition is not described in the manual of the car and it was just pure luck that I avoided an accident after being in such a situation. Anybody driving this car with abs and traction control should know that wheels will not completely stop under icy conditions, no matter how they will handle the brakes. Chevrolet should warn about this very dangerous condition in the manual, (which otherwise has tens of useless redundant warnings, but nothing about the above mentioned situation). An important detail - the road was in a slow descending slope. Consistent with the abs and traction control working noises, the system seemed to work continuously - but the final result was the car rolling freely and not coming to a stop until traction control button was turned off. Please check condition with manufacturer and have a label applied on the dashboard about this condition - or post a warning in the manual. [xxx].
