Tire Problems of Chevrolet Express 3500

General hts 10 ply e rated tire failure; separated belt.

This is the 4th general grabber hts tire failure I have experienced for this vehicle. I have reported the safety issue with this tire in previous failures, although the website shows no failures. General has a problem w/ the manufacture of it's e rated 10 ply tires. Please kindly investigate the safety issue of belt separation at approx 10-15k miles, operated at speed of 70 mph or less.

2005 Chevrolet Express 3500. Parking brake cable on rear, drivers side, rubbing against side of tire. Tire rubs down until it breaks. Tire was totally shredded but I was able to slow and steer to side of road. New tire put on but they did not see the cable in the way or rubbing! I only saw it because I was looking under the car for a new metallic clanking noise (that is something else). My new tire was almost rubbed through after only 3 weeks. I pulled the cable way back into its retainer but the retainer is about 1. 5 square inches and the cable is only 1/8 in so is not firmly held in place (only by some friction). If you have a chevy express, check your cable and tire.

August 2011 our ambulance department purchased 6 new tires for our chevy ambulance. January 2012 we had a belt seperation on a front driver tire. April 2012 we had another tire have a belt seperation on the passenger tire. Then December 2012 we had a back inside dual tire have belt seperation. I have now replaced all the tires with a production date of 2311. These tires are the lt22575r16.
