I parked my vehicle ay home, and when I went to get out, the inside door handle broke right off. The only way to get out was to roll down the electric window and reach out to the outside door handle. From some research I did this breaking off is a common problem. What I was concerned about if for some reason like an accident I couldn't get the window down, I would be stuck in the vehicle.

Rear passenger door opened and handle would not let passenger out. I locked and unlocked door and passenger could move handle but not open the door. I went to the door and tried to open and the exterior handle would not open door. Tried locking and unlocking with remote, buttons in car and manually to no avail. Have seen many references to same problem but no solutions. Dealer wants $120. 00 to tell me how much to fix the door. This is something defective and not a workaround by Chevrolet. Other models in this year have had a recall but Hhr's I guess did not make it. Glad there was not an accident with a fire.

Front and rear bumpers are peeling badl. No other part of car is doing so.

I was going 25 mph when I crashed causing over 5,000 dollars worth of auto and property damage in addition to the medical bills which I have not received in full yet. The car malfunctioned while I was driving and I was not able to control it. I received the recall information in the mail, but the car had not been repaired. Also, the airbags did not deploy when the crash happened. I suffered a concussion due to the accident. I was the only person injured.

2009 Hhr. We have had so much trouble with is car, I don't have the space to tell you all the complaints. This is the latest happening; wife calls me from town, cant get out of the car, door wont open. Finally had to crawl over the consoul and exit on the passenger side. Quiet a feat for a 260 lb 72 year old lady. Now I read on the internet this is a ongoing problem for Hhr going all the way back to 2007. One person said the dealer charged $450. 00, because the whole door panel had to be replaced. Gm is certainly aware of the defective door locks and latches on the Hhr. When some gets burned alive because they cant get out of the car gm cannot say the were not aware of the failures of the door latches because there are hundreds of complaints about the doors failing to open. This is just the latest problem we have with this car. ,but right now this is the most important thing for me to register this complaint in case my wife is trapped in this car again and sustains injury.

My wife was driving we had pulled out of a parking lot on route 207 in the town of hamptonburgh,NY. No more then 20 feet from exiting the parking lot the car shut down and pulled to the right causing us to hit a telephone pole and totaling the car. It is my contention that power assist steering failed thus causing the accident. We where notified of the ignition recall had that taken care of in August of 2012. However chevy/gm contention is the ignition did not fail. The body shop mechanic and gm/chevy's own service advisor at the local dealership said that a catsophic malfunction took place causing the accident.

The front door handle broke on the passenger side of my car in 2013 we had taken the car to the dealership to inquire about this, since this is a safety issue not being able to get out of your car if something dangerous was to happen. At that time the dealership told my husband I that there was nothing they could do about it. Then again in 2014 the driver side door had broken also. So now I have two broken doors on my car that you can only get out of, if someone lets me out of the car or I roll the window down. I feel this is a major safety issue. If I were to get into a serious accident were I was unable to roll my window down and did not have someone riding in the back seat (say car caught on fire) then this could lead to major problems if not death. Also when my husband had an accident neither airbag deployed. And backseat passenger side seatbelt would not release and we had to cut my granddaughter out of seatbelt. So now I am driving a car that airbags did not deploy in, back seatbelt had to be cut and my front two doors you cannot get out of if unable to roll window down. Major safety issues. We had around 98,000. Miles when issues started with the doors. Which I believe the miles should have nothing to do with a safety issue.

Could not open drivers' side door. Nothing. . . No-how. In addition the radio would not turn off after key was removed. Took to dealer, they found a defective module located inside the drivers' side door that controlled all this. Not being able to open the drivers side door. . . . Having to depend on an electronic gizmo. . . . Is absolutely a very dangerous situation. There should be. . . . A simple mechanical over-ride. . . Or better yet, why is opening (and closing?) a door electronic at all? it was definetly fun to contort my 6'1" 250 pound body out the passenger side door. $441,please. . . . . . . . .

I was driving in the right lane going westbound approaching a stop light when I applied my brakes it did not slow down,I pressed the brake hard an car kept going into the rear of a truck that was stopping at the light . My car was not stopping. Like it had no control. The airbags did not deploy. Im concerned that the ignition turned off when I went over some pot holes in the road. My car is one of the vehicles on the recall list for the ignition switch, I had replaced ignition switch months ago due to same problem. What are my options to get this problem resolved?.

I attempted to open my 2010 chevy Hhr's rear passenger door. The door would not open. All other doors are opening ok. The rear driver's side passenger door would not open under any circumstances. This an extremely dangerous situation. Not being to exit a vehicle under emergency circumstances can cause serious injury or death. It is my understanding that although gm is aware of this problem they have done nothing about it. The gm dealer I brought the vehicle to told me it was my problem, not gm's. I have faced multiple issues with this vehicle; key stuck in ignition, power steering fail while driving, multiple sets of brakes burnt out, inside driver's door handle breaking off and now this new issue with the door. The NHTSA really needs to urgently address the multiple problems with this vehicle and hold gm responsible for their poor engineering and quality control, before someone else loses their life.

The left rear power door lock actuator is inoperative. The rear door can not be opened ( from outside or inside) either with power assist or manually pulling the lock plunger. I have to use pliers grabbing the door lock plungers ( pulling upward) to force the lock open allowing me to open rear door (excessive force required along with someone pushing the power door lock switch simultaneously). Once in the locked condition you can not operate the door from either the inside or outside. Rear seat occupants would be trapped in back seat without being able to exit the vehicle. I checked the child safety switch and it is not engaged. This is a safety hazard as rear seat occupants would not be able to exit the car in the event of an accident or fire. The right side rear door lock actuator failed similarly ( same condition) on this same vehicle while under warranty and it was replaced. Now gm dealer said it was my issue and gm would not cover replacement or cost to install replacement part. I want this saftey issue documented in an independent third party file in case of an accident.

Exterior "sun visor" started to vibrate at high speed (70 mph) . The 2 adhesive posts that are attached to the windshield detached from the windshield. Vibrations caused the windshield to crack.

My son was on his way home from college for the holidays and experienced the following: while driving on I-10 eastbound near sealy, TX from austin to houston he heard a loud popping sound followed by a gust of air. He pulled over to assess the situation and that's when he realized the glass from the sunroof had somehow detached itself from the vehicle and went airborne. If there has been a recall for this, can someone please inform me. Hopefully the flying glass did not injure anyone else.

I had the it replaced at coughlin Chevrolet dealership in circleville ohio. . In November of 2013, the door latches broke on the front drivers side and the passingers side. If we use the car we have to drive with the windows down so that we could get out if . The dealership told me that this is common on Hhr. . If an accident happen, we could be trapped in the car. There should be a recall on this.

While traveling on an interstate hgy, at apox, 65 to 70 mph I felt the car pull hard to the right, after going into a spin , it became hard to apply breaks and to try to correct or control the spin , there were vehicles including a semi all around my car. As I slid off the traveled portion of the hgy. My car impacted the wall head on. I was slammed into the dash . A moment later I calmed down and thought to myself why didn't the airbags deploy? I hit the wall at least at 35 mph, then I saw the car was not running, I saw the key had moved to off, I started the car and drove home.
