Door Latch Problems of Chevrolet HHR - part 2

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Hhr. While the vehicle was parked the contact attempted to open the drivers side door and the latch broke off. The front passengers side door latch broke on another occasion. The contact stated that in order to get out of the vehicle the doors must be opened from the outside. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be repaired. The vehicle will be taken into the dealer at a later time. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Hhr. The contacted stated while exiting the vehicle, the door handle failed. As a result the contact was unable to exit the vehicle. The failure recurred on three occasions. The vehicle was taken a dealer. The mechanic stated that the door handle was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Door ajar warning does not show until door is more than 3 inches open. This is on all doors except the back hatch. The door ajar warning should come on anytime the door is not completely closed. Safety hazard.

Door ajar warning inadequate, when door is a couple of inches open warning institutes, rather than when door is on first safety latch as it should be when ajar, when door is open prior to latch door is open not ajar!safety concern!.

2006 Chevrolet Hhr inside driver's door handle broke off. The consumer was informed he could not purchase just the door handle, but he would have to purchase the entire door panel. The consumer stated the door handle was made of plastic.
