Rear driver side door lock actuator failed. (door lock would not rise and release. Had to be manually pulled up. ) replaced. Ok since then. 33,300 miles. Current miles 44,200.

As filed by many other owners of a chevy Hhr, something needs to be done about the inside door handles. They are made of cheap plastic and mine broke as well. I can't believe a us company such as gm would make a cheap part that could end up endangering the lives of its customers. If you were to get in an accident or need to exit the car in any emergency situation, this could cost your life. Gm needs to recall these cars and do the right thing. Replace them with a more durable handle as soon as possible. Or will they wait until something happens before they take action?.

My Hhr driver's interior handle broke off a few weeks ago. I feel that gm needs to recall 2006 Hhr cars and replace the door handle. I do not have $400. 00 to give the dealership. A month ago I just paid for key ignition switch to be fixed for $400. 00.

2007 chevy Hhr interior door handle broke when trying to open the door. No longer can I exit the vehicle without rolling down the window and opening the door from the exterior handle. Unable to replace just the handle, the only way to fix the piece of plastic that is holding the door handle together is to replace the entire door panel. It is unacceptable that a cheap piece of plastic is controlling the opening of the door. With this piece broken, I am unable to exit in the event of an accident if the windows can't be rolled down.

2006 Hhr LS - driver's side door handle broke off with normal opening of the door. Could not get out of the car without putting window down and using the outside handle. If this was an emergency - I would have been stuck in the car. Power steering failure - power steering quits while driving - was going 55 mph. And the power steering just went off. . Pulled to the side with difficulty - shut the car off. Restarted car - and the power steering was working again. Very dangerous situation.

The interior door handle of my 2006 Chevrolet Hhr broke off during normal use. It's made from a cheap plastic. This is a serious safety hazard as a person cannot quickly exit the car if this happens. If my driver's side door just broke, how soon before the other three in the car break off from normal operation. This is a manufacturing defect and should be taken care of from the manufacturer. The dealer wants me to pay $400-$450 to replace a $10 plastic door handle that they poorly designed. This should be a recall from gm to replace these cheap handles before someone does have a serious situation.

2006 chevy Hhr . The drivers side door interior door handle snapped off in my hand when I tried to open the door, smacking into my knuckle and almost causing my hand to fly back into my face. The door must now be opened by rolling down the electric window and opening from the outside handle. Two dealers so far refuse to fix the issue, telling me they don't have parts.

If my battery dies I can not get in the car no matter what. My car is equipped with one lock on the driver side. Because the battery is dead the car will not engage the actuator on the lock even with key entry. I have to call a locksmith to get in the car. If I accidentally locked a baby in the car and the battery was not working I cannot get in the car. Key, remote whatever. I have to call a locksmith. In my case the actuator stopped working. So regardless if I have a key or remote I cannot get in. If this actuator fails on the driverside I cannot get in, but my baby may been the car.

The power steering doesnt work anymore, both of the front inside door handles broke off, water leaking in passenger front coming from the moter area somewhere I called the dealership but no recalls and I have read on numorus forums of other people having the same problem but gm still hasn't issued a recall.

The lock will not unlock when I use the key. It is as though the lock is jammed. Both keyless entries have stopped working. I keep onstar activated so I can get into my car.

In the event of a serious crash or accident the driver would be trapped in the vehicle. Gm's fix for the broken door handle is to replace the entire interior door panel at a cost of $450. The dealership does not stock this item and it has to be ordered which could take up to 2 weeks. Gm's poor design of the door handle mechanism could lead to an tragic event and is also a rip off to the consumers who purchased this vehicle. This door handle mechanism needs to be redesigned and recalled by gm before someone does become trapped and killed.

Front passenger door on 2006 Chevrolet Hhr will not open from inside or outside. Front drivers side door does same sporadically. No damage to doors from physical damage, they just stopped working.

2007 Chevrolet Hhr LS while attempting to exit vehicle, with interior door handle in open position and foot on brake, I shifted into park and the automatic door locking/opening mechanism feature broke the handle rendering exit from interior impossible without lowering power window and reaching from through open window to access exterior door handle. In the event of a serious crash this will in effect trap the driver in the vehicle. Gm refused to acknowledge this serious defect in design which has occurred many times according to public reports. The door handle is available only through gm dealers at a quoted price of 450. 00 dollars . For a plastic door handle that broke due to poor design.

2008 Chevrolet Hhr. Door locks stick. Vehicle has locked me in. Door locks still stick. Has been in dealer eight times where purchased to be fixed. Purchased new . Have all work orders . Also have had trouble with radio and tire pressure . We have video of me being locked in vehicle and door locks sticking. We purchased the 2008 Hhr in good faith the door locks have given us trouble from day one of purchase. Gm had people come from main office to dealer they have seen the work orders and video of door locks sticking. Rep. From gm told me I could always climb out the window.

Video of being locked in . Was purchased new. We feel we have done our part taking back to dealer to be fixed. They are unable to fix defects.

I currently own a 2008 chevy Hhr that I purchased in August. My complaint is on the back passenger doors. In several occassions my kids have not closed the doors hard enough, and the doors have stayed open. The car has failed to inform me. We only noticed because we can hear the wind as I am driving faster. Also in testing the car, the door wasn't even on the hatch and the car still did not warn of the door being open and the car was in movement. While no accident or death has occurred yet, this a is problem that could result in someone's death.

Drivers side door handle broke off when getting out of vehicle. Dealer will not repair unless I pay for the repair. This is a safety hazard because you cannot exit the vehicle unless you let the window down.

The key fob battery holder became detached making it impossible for the lock/unlock/remote start/panic buttons to work. This happened to both key fobs issued to me by gm.

I currently own a 2006 Chevrolet Hhr. On 1-13-11, I had the interior door handle break off in my hand making it impossible to open the door from the inside of the car. This is a huge safety hazard while driving the car. Upon further research on car forums online, I am not the only person that has had this problem.
