The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. While driving approximately 30 mph the vehicle accelerated on its own. The contact applied pressure to the brake pedal and was able to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer diagnostic testing. The contact stated that she had not driven the vehicle since the failure occurred. The cruise control also deactivated on its own on a different occasion and failed to function normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
Cruise control came on unexpectedly. It was the 2nd such incident on this car. The car had been in cruise, but I had slowed down for a reduced speed area. When I gave it the gas, the cruise came on without the resume button being pushed. The first time, the car was not in cruise. I had just started it in a parking lot, was entering traffic, and it came on at 15 mph. Both times, the cruise went off when I applied the brake.
Engine will surge, burble and loose power at idle after starting (cold or hot). No incident yet. GMC ccontacted. . . . No response. Dealer contacted. . . Presently in shop for 4th time.
