I have been experiencing this issue for over 1 year, but my Impalas engine will just stop running while in travel up to 65 mph causing problems with inability to steer, or brake while in traffic. Numerous reports in online searches have indicated that there are many Impala owners that are experiencing the exact same issues, but according to them gm is not doing anything about the issue and those same owners are only paying high service fees at gm dealerships with the problem never being fixed. I suspect that in the future my Impala will be involved in a collision due to this problem, but I have no choice but to drive it as it is.

Failure Date: 02/26/2013

My battery was dead, so I put a battery charger on the battery, then went to start the car. I turned the key for about three revolutions and then the car exploded! 7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2008

As I was driving home from work I accidentally went through a red light and t-boned the other car. Although no one was hurt, there was extensive damage to both cars. My concern is the airbags never went off. I have always thought this was strange. Now that I'm hearing about the Impala recall due to faulty airbags it raises more concerns, because now this is my sons car. My understanding is the 2000 Impala's are not part of the recall but maybe they should be. There is absolutely no reason those airbags should not have deployed. Now I'm am concerned if my son is ever in an accident he will not have the airbags as a safety net. Should the 2000 Impala's be part of the recall also?.
