Abs is kicking back and traction control is coming on for no given reason making stopping the car increasingly hard at slow speeds. Inevitably causing the abs and service traction control lights to come on the light is now staying on as soon as the car is turned on. Took the car to the shop to attempt to find the problem being told it is an electrical grounding problem also makes the headlights flicker when doing this.
Car was parked I started it and began driving my abs just went crazy. The pump was trying to engage over and over again even while driving. When I hit the abs off button this problem continued. I feel this car could at anytime have something in the break or tire area just compeletly fail. Along with another list of issues including burning oil from the gasket. Please tell me if there is anything that can be done.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning, the brake pedal seized, and the contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and later taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the security system shutdown and needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v701000 (engine and engine cooling) and stated that the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Problem with starting has progress to a problem with the car shutting off during operation. Several times now the car has shut down with no warning and at different speeds. This causes a loss of control with the power steering and power brakes. I have been able to place the transmission in neutral and restart the car while moving. The last time it happened, I was making a right turn and merging into the flow of traffic. I had pressure on the steering wheel while trying to make the curve when I restarted the car. At this point, the power steering kicked in and I found myself swerving from the sudden snatch on the steering. We were lucky that we didn't cause an accident. If my wife had been at the controls I know it would have turn out bad! I see unlimited complains around this item. Do we have to wait on people to get injured or killed before the company is force to be responsible? if this was a foreign car company, the government would have already forced a recall.
Purchased vechicle that was fraudlently misrepresented as a safe vechicle to drive on public highways, which turn out to be the opposite. Fear, vechicle is unsafe to drive and could result in a fatality.
Have had "traction control" problems for 2 years. Was told many things could cause this. Now driving with no traction control and no abs, just regular brakes. Have replaced hubs and brakes. Have to file for waiver for inspection. Will try replacing abs pump next if can ever afford such a big repair. Dangerous issue.
Traction control panel would light up when there wasn't any snow. A few months later the warning would be to "service traction control", would shut down the abs. Car was serviced, bad wheel bearing. Cost $427. 00.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the two rear brakes were rusted and worn down to the point that only half of the brake shoes were used. The rotors and brakes were replaced. A few months after the repairs, he heard a noise and noticed that the two front brake shoes had split into two pieces. The two front brakes, rotors, and brake shoes were all replaced. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 50,000 and current mileage was 55,000.
Antilocks and traction activation. Sometimes the vehicle will not stop or go because of antilocks and traction activation. All the time the dealership wanted to replace parts at my cost. We took it to a service garage.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. While driving approximately 25 mph, the brake pedal would pulsate and the steering column turned slightly to the left and right when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and they stated that the rotors were warped and needed to be turned. The vehicle was repaired. Approximately seven months later, the rotors had to be turned again. The failure has persisted for the past three years. The vehicle has not been repaired since August of 2008. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls related to his VIN; therefore, they were not liable for the repairs. The current mileage was 97,000 and failure mileage was 25,000.
