The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the air bag sensor indicator for the passenger side air bag flashes, even when the passenger seat is unoccupied. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle is not under recall. The current and failure mileages were 61,000. Updated 12/11/08 the consumer was told the problem was the clockspring in the steering column. Updated 12/11/08.

3 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2006

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the air bag light continued to illuminate on the instrument panel in warm weather. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing who stated the the air bag module needed to be replaced in the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received a NHTSA recall campaign 14v355000 (electrical system), however the dealer could not repair the vehicle because the parts are not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,000. Rg.
