The car shuts off while driving. Loose power steering hazardous while turning at higher speeds. . . Dangerous for. Vehicles in front or back . The car also jumps or jolts when driving. And looses power causing severe loss of control especially when icy or snow road conditions.
Internal security system fails without notice, car wont start. Security light stays on or flashes. Car still wont start. It can be hours or even days before this problem resets and car starts and works. But then will soon fail as soon as the vehicle is shut off. Has coasted me several jobs, loss work hours, and extra money I spent on starter, but came to find out it was the security feature chevy put in, I'm not the only one who has been having this problem.
Wont go into park, key stuck in ignition while trying to park.
I tried to start my car and smelled smoke. Something under the hood of my car must have been burning because there was a distinct smell of smoke when I opened the hood. When the road service attendant tried to jump the vehicle the next day, smoke came out of the fuse box and the car would not start.
When the car is sitting at a stoplight, or pressing on the brake for long periods of time, it shakes lightly and it shuts down. It starts up again after restarting the car. This happens frequently.
Car wouldn't start and we thought it was battery so went and bought new battery. . But that didn't work either. . So called a mechanic friend and ''he told us to run a wire to the small screw and large screw on starter, and it started!! but there's a recall on these ignitions and ours needs to be fixed as its our only vechile. .
My Impala keeps stalling!!! while driving it, and doesn't matter if I'm going 30 or 55, just stalls, its a death trap, but that's all we have to drive, and I have to haul a disabled person!!! am scared, have spent a lot of money replacing parts that it could "potentially" be! at a loss, please help!!!.
The key to my Impala jammed and would not turn. I called my local dealer tom gill because I had heard there was a recall. They informed that did not know about a recall affecting ignitions for chevy Impalas. I had my car repaired by a lock smith. I have now received my recall notice and they inform me they do not have the parts. Gm is not taking this recall serious. I will not buy another gm product.
I was merging and exiting off the expressway on my way to work and went to use my turn signal and it quit working. Upon arriving at work I tried it again and nothing. . . I then tried my other turn signal and hazard light also and they didn't work either. I do alot of expressway driving to different cities due to my job of which I have to change lanes and merge and turn quite frequently so this is a major concern with my turn signals and flasher not working.
This vehicle 2005 Impala was in a accident twice once when we first got it. And know 08/04/2014 with front end damage. Either time no aig bag was deployed!!!!! the last accident was a direct hit to the left front of the vehicle!!! no air bag deployed!!!!.
I was forced to make repairs to ignition system that Chevrolet refused to cover. My cost to dealer $969. 61 I was told by gm to wait for a recall announcement and seek reimbursement at that time. On 8/12 gm issued a recall on my vehicle for these affected parts. I have heard nothing back from gm concerning my claim for reimbursement. Is gm obligated to reimburse me for this repair that could have been avoided had the issued a prompt recall on my vehicle?.
Defective vehicle key switch forced vehicle to shut down while driving on southern parkway in islip NY. We managed to push vehicle to dealer where it currently is awaiting repairs. There is no current recall on this car - there should be! my family and I could have been seriously injured or killed.
Traction control engages even on drive even surfaces. Abs also engage on smooth, even and dry surfaces.
Right hand blinker -- has started flickering. . Very fast, when I put my right hand blinker to turn. . . . . It started early June. . . . But then suddenly went back to normal. Just last week/july14---it startered flickering very fast again. Is there a part that I can purchase and replace myself. . . . I am a senior citizen, would appreciate the assitance. . . . I purchased this car on December 2004.
The speedometer malfunctions. This incident is the third I've experienced in the last year. I researched this and found the problem to be widespread for 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impalas. The speedometer registers 95-110 mph all of the time from a complete stop to a slow roll. This is very dangerous because a faulty speedometer reading can and will lead to accidents.
Problem started first with car not starting and then it would start few minutes later, now car will shut off completely while driving low speeds/coasting even. Cel blinked several times once still giving 0300 code. Changed spark plugs and nothing changed. I have to shift car in neutral when this occurs and restart engine but have to push on accelerator to get to start and shift into drive. This is dangerous and could kill someone if they didnt know what to do.
This car has been down now since may without being driven because of the ignition switch went out and kept us stranded. We had to have this replaced which was 450. 00 in October and now we are waiting for the key from g. M. To even start the car and that was 2 months ago and we are still waiting for the key and it's now December. G. M. Should have to pay for this ignition switch and the months that we had paid for the insurance on this car without driving it.
I had to have the ignition replaced on my car this year! now the air bag light is on and stays on n won't go off! not sure if it's on recall or not.
I've heard a lot about the recalls regarding several chevy vehicles in regards to the ignition and I was wondering why Impalas are not on the list. You can look at numerous web forms with people having trouble starting their Impala's like my self. You can also read that there is really no explanation or fix to the problem. The problem in general is a good majority of the time older chevy Impala's have a hard time starting or just won't start for a good 15 minutes. From the many Impala owners I talk to a lot of them are wondering if this was the start of the issue with the recalled chevy vehicles. I have yet to experience any other described issue related to the recall but again I am worried if this is a sign of the issues or slightly related.
A sudden loud noise began while driving on the highway at speeds of 65-70. The noise lasted a few seconds followed by a louder loud noise coming from the top of the vehicle. I activated my hazard lights and pulled into the median to determine the cause. After opening the sliding cover for my vehicle's sunroof, I discovered the sunroof was missing and had flown off the vehicle while driving. I do not believe any vehicles were directly behind me. I am not sure if any vehicles hit the sunroof after it flew off my vehicle. I discovered a recall for the webasto hollandia 700 sunroof due to the sunroof flying off vehicles. I was not notified by the manufacturer of this recall. I will contact the manufacturer regarding this recall and to have the sunroof repaired.
Vehicle shut off while driving , this has occurred twice, able to direct vehicle to side of the road safely. At time had multiple keys and items hanging from keychain. Now drive with just key alone in ignition has not occurred since.
Ignition not workng properly. While driving security light comes on. Multiple times a week car won't start. Battery's perfect.
Driving 2005 chevy Impala on interstate 95 north when vehicle unexpectedly went off the road and crashed into the guardrail, vehicle bounced off of guardrail and spun around three times before coming to a stop with vehicle resting in the middle of the highway in the corresponding direction of traffic. The airbags did not deploy. The vehicle would not immediately start, but after two or three attempts, the vehicle started. The vehicle was moved to the shoulder of highway. The vehicle did not start again and had to be towed from accident scene. The vehicle was deemed a total loss.
My 2005 chevy Impala intermittently fails to start. It will restart after waiting about 15-20 minutes. This is a similar problem (potential safety issue) I had with a previously owned 2000 Impala, and other frustrated Impala owners express online. Certified technicians are unable to pin point the cause and gm customer service was not helpful when contacted on the matter.
Ignition problems. Sometimes vehicle will not start and the security light will come on. Other times the vehicle will have trouble starting and the ignition does not catch to start and takes multiple attempt to successful start. A few times the vehicle has started and after moving 500ft or more it stalled and lost all control of brakes and steering.
The transmission hesitates at stop and go traffic, tranny shop says it is a switch solenoid that is defective in the transmission itself. It is commonly reported by many consumers of this make, model and year. Seems to shift fine when driving on longer drives ie. Interstate driving. Could cause potential safety hazard when trying to pull out into traffic from stopped position.
From stop I would step on the gas, and the car would slam into gear. I have had to have the electrical cluster replaced $300, and the fuel control replaced (car always smelt like gas) now they think this slam is the tcc valve in the transmission which is anywhere from $600-$900. Also the steering knuckle makes a loud noise on sharp turns. Whats next? are any of these issues recalls?.
There are no events leading up to the passlock security system leaving a motorist stranded at any given time. The failure happens at least once a week leaving the driver stranded at whatever location he/she cuts the car off. Sometimes it will be 5min before the alarm will reset and sometimes it will be days leaving the motorist without a vehicle. Nothing done to correct the problem becuase in this instance the alarm won't reset so the only alternative I was given by a gm dealership is to have the system disconnected.
First just a few minutes, now security light stays on. . . Cant start. When the security light comes on my car won't crank and I have to let it reset before I can do anything. It has done me like this several times causing me to be stranded. I depend on this car to be safe and dependable and right now it is neither one. I take care of it, keep it serviced, and clean. This is a problem that I feel is beyond me and something that GMC should be responsible for fixing at no cost to me.
Speedometer stops working or shows a lower speed than actual speed. This occurs at least once a week, sometimes more often. So far has not caused an crash, yet.
The speedometer is at 35 mph when the car is at a standstill. The indicated speed is incorrect when the car is moving, showing a faster speed than the car is moving.
At 60000 vehicle had a transmission slip. Re-manufactured transmission installed under extended car warranty. At 120000 vehicle had a transmission slip. Worn internal transmission gears replaced under extended car warranty. At 160000 vehicle had a transmission slip. Re-manufactured transmission installed under extended warranty. So as you can clearly do the math the first transmission failed at 60,000, the second at 120,000 and the third at 160,000. Now at 180,000 in the month of June 2013 the trans is slipping again but I have yet to have the fourth incident evaluated.
