1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2016

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Impala. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated without warning, braked independently, and the steering wheel was out of control and made an abnormal noise. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. The contact powered off the engine. Once it was restarted, the vehicle drove normally. In addition, while the gear was in park, the vehicle rolled forward independently. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 140,745.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2016

I was accelerating and merging onto a road and just got into the middle lane. Suddenly the car kept accelerating even though I had stopped pressing the pedal. The engine was revving and the car got up to 70 mph in a 55 zone. The brakes did not seem to help slow the car. In a panic I shifted to neutral and was able to pull onto the shoulder and stop the car. Even when I was in park, the engine was still revving. I turned the vehicle off and rested it about 5 minutes and was able to restart it. It did not seem to have any problems on the way home after that. It was an extremely scary and dangerous situation as there were cars very close to me. I noticed that my floor mat was much higher than usual and was under the accelerator. I don't know if that could have contributed to the problem. I do often use cruise control. I cannot remember if it was on at the time and I cannot remember if I was accelerating using the steering wheel button. I do not believe I was at the time but the cruise control likely was on. All I remember is it going out of control. It seemed best to report the situation. I am very glad nothing serious happened as it very well could have. I may get a ticket for speeding though. I don't think they would ever believe this happened to me.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

Traction control engages even on drive even surfaces. Abs also engage on smooth, even and dry surfaces.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2014

While driving my children to school, my steering wheel locked up, my gas pedal would not accelerate, and my brake pedal locked up, brought to my local dealership they replaced the ignition and the problem is still occurring.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2013

Brake problems.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Esc and abs turn on at low speed usually coming out of stopping position, or during braking. Have had front wheelbearings replaced multiple times to no effect. Wiring checks out. No codes that the mechanic can determine would be causing this issue. Eventually traction and abs turn off and service traction system lights come on. This is a serious issue for winter driving.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2013

First bought the car in 2011 with 160,000 miles on it and four months later my entire steering goes out so I had no power steering the people I bought the car from didnt bother to tell me about it and the car wasnt under warrenty so when we told them about it they didnt want to fix it. Then exactly a year later the same problem happens I dont have any power steering so we got the power steering fixed twice now so im thinking ok something is going on here then this year about the exact same time as the previous two times my power steering goes out again for the third time so we got that fixed again and I dont wanna sink anymore money into my car. As for my traction control and abs system I have nothing even though we took it to a garage to have it fixed and they said they fixed it now three days later the abs and traction control light are on again saying I dont have either and as of now I dont feel safe with my car anymore becuase the power steering has gone out so many times and since I dont have abs or traction control anymore.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2013

My Impala is having traction control and abs issues making it harder to feel safe on the road. Abs starts working for no reason when stopping lightly and the tracrion control also starts working when taking off in normal conditions making the car hesitant.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2011

My chevy Impala began shaking when I attempt to slow down on the freeway from speeds of 55-65 miles an hour. I have replaced the tires, brakes, and balanced, aligned, rotated and the shaking has not stopped. This is very dangerous when you need to come to a quick stop because when your car shakes like it's falling apart your first instinct is to let go of the brake. I have researched this problem and have come to discover this is a common problem with Chevrolet Impala's. I can not afford to keep dumping money into a temporoary solution.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

No events appear to lead up to the problem. It occurs randomly without warning, especially during backup operations. The abs seems to come on whenever it likes during braking, causing heavy loss in stopping power. This can occur regardless of road conditions or speed. Similar to this, the traction control system appears to come on during acceleration at random times, especially at low speeds or in reverse. This occurs on dry roads frequently and occasionally causes the vehicle to pull heavily to one side as neither side is actually slipping. An accident has not yet occurred but certainly can given the nature of the failures. A TSB is available concerning the abs. This vehicle has a whopping 75 tsbs! service bulletin number : 4615 NHTSA item number : 10023171.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2009

I was sold a vehicle from a car dealership that supposedly had a 100+ point inspection including safety equipment. After taking the vehicle to my mechanic, I found that the rear brakes had only 10% brake pad left and the power steering was compromised.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2007

Brakes had to be fixed three times under a defect. No notice was received by dealer. A local dealer let me know to bring the car back to dealer to be fixed. By the last time the brakes were fixed, warranty was out. Brakes should have been fixed for free due to defect in rotors. Now there is a problem with the steering and no safety recall notice has been received, but read about it online.
