2007 Chevrolet Impala. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle emergency brake failure. The consumer stated the vehicle suddenly stopped operating. He tried to the stop the vehicle, by applying the brake, but to know avail. As a result, he collided with another vehicle. Also, the air bags failed to deploy. The consumer attached a recall notice, regarding the ignition switch.
Parking brake will not hold in reverse. Dealership and gm states this is "normal. " does not even hold on a slight incline, and on some drive ways the car gets stuck in park because of this. Known as "torque lock", the car will not disengage from gear because of load on transmission. I have to have someone rock the car back and fourth to disengage transmission. Fear the transmission is experiencing excess stress and may not hold causing accident or injury to unsuspecting people behind the vehicle.
