1 Accelerator Pedal Sensor problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2012

My in-laws were driving their car when suddenly the accelerator pedal was unresponsive. Luckily, they were not injured but were able to coast to a stop. They were towed to a service center where the accelerator pedal position sensor was replaced. Total cost was $317. 41. Part number 25830023 I retrieved this part and opened it up. I was startled to find that parts of the circuit board were never soldered. I am a licensed master electrician, have an aas degree in electronics technology and as a hobby have been doing automotive repair for 45 years. This part should never have left the factory. I contacted gm and they simply said the part is not on our recall list so we will not reimburse you or look into this any further. I have the part. I'm guessing there could be many more just like this. My in-laws are 80 and I'm pursuing this for them. They have sold this car. Thanks.
